We are not switching names around either by default you typically use the same setup when going into battle does not mater the order you put the skills into the bar. That would all be different if that was the case but again seeing as how I seen many people play most people typically do a similar setup given they have the max amount to use at any given time.
Lol stop nuking it really if by choice you have only 8 that's up to you in prior titles however having only 15 skills and using the max 15 skills and say only being able to use 8 skills out of say 15 skills gives you more to be different then other players if all players have all 15 in a bar then all players will have the same setup how does everyone having the same skills in the bar make higher variation. We are not talking about total skills we are talking about the difference in gameplay how each individual will have a different play style due to the limited skill limit then all be able to use all the skills at once. Before you attempt to correct me you should be able to see what this is about before you say go back to school maybe you should do it yourself nice try
Imagine that you are conducting two experiments. During one you test 8 people and in the other you test 15 people. Which one do you think has the possbility of more varied outcome?
You keep saying that an experiment in which you test 8 people gives more varied outcome. Thats borderline trollism.
Are we fighting over the ability bar again? Hasn't this been beaten to death already?

No its the same test you have 8/15 and 15/15 you are reading it wrong the outcome of difference in 15 out of 15 is still 15 with say 8 you can never exceed 8 however you can add and take away from that 8.

You can do the same thing with 15.
There is nothing stoping you from using 8 out of 15, or 9 out of 15 and swapping as you please.
The last poster before "lock" wins the argument.
edit: I think the 8-abilities thing will work out alright.
what i'm not sure about is whether or not we can change them up in battle or afterwards.

Exactly. How hard is it for people to understand ?
Again, going back to my previous example to make it more clear
"up to 2 skills from 4" is subset of "up to 4 skills from 4"

can only change when not in combat. Otherwise if we could, there would be even less point to have that restriction as the only reason would be just to make it a hassle mid-battle.

I see. I guess I'll judge this system after release. I can't really speculate on how good/bad it will be until I'm exposed to the other game mechanics.
The power of PR is amazing. You are practicly follow a script for your answers. It makes me wonder how many people on these forums are actually hired posters to spread the PR message. I also wonder how many people swallow PR message, accept it without a thought and spread it. Almost like voluntary PR posters.
They are obviously paying attention to the forums. When this thread first exploded they organized emergency gameplay stream to give people something else to talk about.
I really fail to see how a fact (only mages have less talents) combined with a complaint (all classes should have got an extra talent tree) and a hopeful statement (that Bioware will improve on this for further games) makes it blind PR. Shall we next declare that every post even vaguely negative about the game is obviously paid by (insert EA competitor here) to trash the game?

So if we complain about ME3 but then act enthusiastically about DA:I someone owes us 2 paychecks? I could get behind this idea.

Praise The Witcher somewhere in there and you might even get 3 ![]()
I just don't understand the mindset that if someone is enthusiasic about a game, they are automatically brainwashed or on EA's payroll. Bioware have let the game speak for itself with several streams and stuff like the videos from Youtube personalities not too long ago. It's not like people are mindlessly swallowing things that haven't been actually shown yet.
Being a discerning consumer doesn't only mean acting like a perpetually dissapointed smarter-than-thou jackass. There is such a thing as actually liking what you see in a promotional campaign and making a decision from there.
15, give or take. Not all talents are active ones and the level cap in Origins is 25.
I had 20 active abilities in DA2.
I had 20 active abilities in DA2.
Unless you're intentionally underpowering abilities - and there are only a few that aren't worth the upgrade - it seems pretty hard to get up to that point even with the free ability points.

Thing is, I was fully on the DAI bandwagon until about six months ago. Then Bioware started delivering one kick in the nuts after the other. It's a little hard when damn near every bit of news since July has been disappointing.
Actually, the rogue's have nearly doubled. Warriors also got about a dozen more talents.
Mages are the only class who lost talents in Inquisition. A grand total of four talents, going down from 88 to 84.
Is this documented anywhere?

I'm in the same boat.

It's in the other thread on skills somewhere. We did a count.

So is it active abilities? Cause all classes had the same number of abilities overall in DA2 IIRC.

It's actives + passives as I recall.

I had about 20 as well, wasn't really underpowered as some, like you said wasn't worth the uprgrade.

I am in that same boat as well. couldnt wait till release, then summer hit and just one middle finger after another. MP (oh which never is good news when introduced to an SP franchise and other decisions only seem to reinforce it) no ViVI romance, same ol DA2 animations and worse ninja flipping, 8 abilities, same crap weapon restrictions, no manual allocation of attributes, during level up. They'll let you change your drapes, but your force to wear the ugly blue clothes with skyhold. No auto-attack (holding down the button doesn't count and its just a big middle finger to those that are handicapped)
