If you judge everyone from the popular mods on DANexus we are all very superficial(personally I hate that "pretty" hair and face mods on there >.<).

I made characters for my last heroes from messing around with character creator. I will end up doing the same with my Inquisitors as well, they don't have to be pretty as long as they look like interesting characters :)

i usually try to make my PC attractive (at least to me). Coz you gonna see him/her for the rest of the game. But the adventures of Ugly Shepard is always good for a laugh.

I make all my characters as beautiful as the character creator will permit.

Young, smooth skin, scars, tattoos, and long colorful or black hair. Or just hair with interesting things in it.

As ugly as possible to prove even ugly people can save the world!

In my playthroughs they can't.

im not gonna make my pcs so ugly that i cant stand looking at them....  i usually do something aesthetically pleasing to the eyes.  usually go younger pc, decent looking hair, some tatoos, and if the scars are tasteful or badass, then i add them.  Im not gonna go a full game with a character i cant stand to look at.... plust do you really want cassandra to have to settle for some ugly dude, no, we want normal looking or better for her....

Looking back at my ME3 and DA:O characters, they are not very attractive. At least I don't think so. But I never really noticed during the game. They were distinct, which is probably most important.

In general, I make my characters at least good looking, at least to me. I made my dudeShep so attractive that I used him for three full playthroughs (and a couple more where I didn't like the character class and bailed). He was bald and kinda grumpy looking, though, so YMMV.

In Inquisition I hope to make a character that looks like me - the closest I've ever got to succeeding in this was the Saints Row IV character creator, which I was pretty impressed with, so fingers crossed for DA:I!

For my Dorian romance, though, I'm gonna make a big ugly scarred Qunari warrior with a face like a crate of a*****les.

Personally I want my characters to look cute but have personality.

For example, in ME1 my Shepard looked young with dark skin and big brown eyes and natural hair but also had some deep scars across her face because of her background having been the only survivor of a Thresher Maw attack.

If my DA:I character is a Dale, or a Carta Dwarf or Tal-Vasoth, they're not gonna get through life without scars. If they're a noble or a Circle mage, probably not so much.

But that could change too. It all depends on the character and their backstory.

I don't tend to make my characters look old in these rpgs because the npcs always treat the characters as young and good-looking.

Attractive but not fabulously so, no makeup or overly elaborate hairdo's.

Male PC: Russell Crowe in Gladiator without beard.

Female PC: A chick, who looks hot.

I make my characters to look good, because I will have to be looking at their faces whenever they talk, and I'd much rather not have nightmare fuel staring into my soul, questioning why I was such a cruel god, every time I pick a dialouge option.

Of course it's important, who wants to stare at an uggo all day.

Depends. If I'm playing one of the conventional races - humans, dwarves, elves - I tend to pretty them up.

But I generally prefer more monstrous heroes: gnolls, lizard men, the undead, etc.

I usually go for a character that could be called attractive, but not 'cute' per se. I've had exceptions before, but I prefer them to look the part. I'd say my Warden was pretty, but I tried to get some rough edge to her at the same time. She was Dalish, so while she had attractive features I thought it would be best to beset that with some things fitting for someone who's lived outdoors her whole life, like a fairly nasty bear-claw shaped scar down the left side of her face via mods.

My most recent Hawke, post-act 2, meanwhile, I think was just a downright smexy mofo. Didn't really go for anything there. He was groomed and noble. :S

*snip*

I guess my female Qunari will follow a similar mindset as I had while making my Warden. Hence why I don't really mind the hairstyles tbh.

Your Hawke looks a lot like my sarcastic Mage Hawke.  ^_^

No scar and different hair style and color, but otherwise very similar.

I think scars are beautiful.
I'm gonna put the nastiest looking scars on my femquisitor.

Enough to make an orc jealous

i always aim for high conventional beauty, because why not? By that i mean through ratios and proportions that are pleasing and balanced plus facial features that signal a high level of femininity. When it comes to hair styles i pick the ones that frame the face beautifully and maintain the ratios im looking for,  which means that most of the time they are very simple. With makeup i keep it minimal. I never understood how people can think its unrealistic for our characters to have nice skin and to maintain a certain standard of beauty, when they have the power to shoot fire and lightning from their hands, heal their wounds through magic and potions, revive etc etc. Somehow its completely unbelievable that they would be able to use magic and potions to make themselves prettier.... If anything their ability to maintain and accentuate their looks far surpasses ours. We  have man made makeup and medicine that can only do so much.

I aim to make my rogues paragons of sexuality since they are vain bastards and like to use their looks to their advantage, well at least thats what my head canon is. My mages and warriors I just aim to make them not ugly. Was easy to do in DA2 since I used default Hawke, but DA1 character creation made me want to punch children at times. Nothing like having a decent looking face only to find out the character had this massive hooked nose that looked like something a clown would have.
