Personally, I feel that some kind of reward should be incurred for reading the codex on certain things. For instance, in a scene where my character has to ask about a certain species or custom (so on so forth), the option shouldnt exist if I have read up on said species, instead it should be replaced with some kind of acknowledgment that I do indeed know something about it. Whereas had I not read the codex, then it would be the default question.
Should the game reward you for reading codex's?

I like the idea, although in this case I think Inquisition perks are taking the place of that.
I hope we have some of those unlocked from the start if class appropriate. It would be really dumb if a mage didn't already know about the arcane and the fade

Cash for literacy!
Somehow I think this would make some people have at least a small amount of intelligence in real life. But on topic I always read the codex anyways but you shouldn't get extra stuff for it.

What are you talking about. I don't need Literary. I just let Fox news do all my reading for me.

The reward should be the great writing in them

If there was an investigative element to the game, it'd be cool if you had to keep up to date with codex info that possibly helped solved puzzles and such.
That said, Dragon Age hasn't had much investigation in their quests yet, so I don't expect it.
