I equipped the bat glove on the paladin yesterday and his light melee shield bash was decapitating mooks, Primes, and even Praymaxians.* There was also that satisfying crunch that goes with the falcon punch and targets were still primed for fire explosions.
He's still capable of deploying his shield if you hold the melee button while sprinting.

b. In terms of hours spent playing, I've probably figured this out twice as fast as you. 
iii It's more quirky than useful. A bunch of players probably noticed it but never mentioned it.
For the benefit of the unwashed masses, uninformed serfs, et cetera, et cetera:
It works similar to the krogan.
Light melee tap: Shield bash. Can decapitate. Sounds crunchy. Paladin base damage is 800 (1.5x to armor)
Standing heavy melee: Falcon punch. Batglove base damage is 800, but 0.75x to armor.
Running Heavy melee: deploys shield, which has a base damage of 400, 1x to all. A second tap does shield bash as above.

Not that I noticed, but it's possible that it primed for fire explosions.

Seems to prime fire explosions. At least it sets off the effect. Had a fire explosion once not centered on me - don't know where that came from.

So, you're saying that the falcon punch animation (i.e. standing heavy melee with bat glove) primes fire explosions if your paladin has upgraded to fire shield? That's pretty cool if true.
Regarding the paladin bug:
Fire explosions not triggered by Snap Freeze should work just fine.
Working as Expected:
Fire Shield + Incinerate
Fire Shield + Energy Drain (on shielded or synth enemy)
Incinerate + Energy Drain (on shielded or synth enemy)
Inc Ammo + Incinerate
Inc Ammo + Energy Drain (on shielded or synth enemy)

No the shield bash (LM) rather doesn't seem to lose its capability. Should have made it clearer. I didn't pay attention to what happened with the HM.

I think that this didn't cover snapcheese primings, but with the exception of 4th and 6th evos it's somehow within "expected" territory I think.

No offense, Shampoohorn. But yeah I thought this was pretty widely known?
Melee is a pretty awesomely nuanced ability though. Melee takes on different properties when executed from normal speed versus storm speed especially awesome with the Bat Gauntlet on AOE melees and also on the Volus with manipulating their cloaks CD, the multipliers against different defenses, DR, etc. I'm not sure whether BW intended all of these unique properties but it made for a very diverse and interesting approach for someone who enjoys beating the enemy to death.
