I regret half my Steam library. They taunt me from the "Hidden" subsection, with mere hours of playtime.
What are the games you regreted/didn't regret spending your money on them?

Haha.
I also have a "junk" category for all the crappy indie games that I got for free.
Damm you slickdeals!!

Pretty much all my other games were either good buys or gifts of some kind; I don't think there's any point in listing them. Nor is there much point in listing the games that modding 'saved' for me that would otherwise have been a total waste of money. However, there are some games that I wasn't expecting to be particularly good that I took a flier on and ended up absolutely loving to my great surprise. Those are:
Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies
Saints Row 2
Mass Effect
Command and Conquer: Red Alert
SimCity 2000
Advance Wars

Seeing as I'm a thoroughly negative person, and seeing as I can't list every game I was really glad to have bought, I'll just focus on some of the games I regretted buying:
Borderlands 2: Too much inventory management, too many bullet-sponge enemies, and too much 'zany' humor. None of it worked for me at all on any level.
GTA IV: I'm just not the audience for this kind of game; I feel a compulsion to try and not run over civilians willy nilly, not crash into other cars, etc., and when you play that way, it's just really boring. Plus, even though shooting is not the core mechanic of this game, it must be said that GTA IV had some of the worst shooting mechanics I'd ever seen.
The Witcher 1: Didn't much care for the combat or the character of Geralt as a protagonist. I dunno, he just seems kinda generic.
Risk of Rain: Like Borderlands, this game has a large number of enemies, and each takes seemingly forever to kill. And your Megaman-like inability to aim up becomes a huge problem when a significant number of enemies are coming from the air. The whole time I was playing, the HUD was prominently displaying that the difficulty level was "easy." Seeing as I never got out of the first stage in the time I played the game, I just felt like the game was trolling me pretty hard.
Kerbal Space Program: It's not necessarily a bad game, but probably not for me. It seemed like the tutorials had about 25% of the information you really needed to know to play the game. Other than that, I felt like I needed a PhD in rocket science to have any idea of what I was doing. All I could do was apologize to the game for being such an ignoramous.
I will mention one game I was really glad to have gotten for free: The Guardian Legend. It's an old NES game I got as a hand-me-down from my cousin way back when. The Guardian Legend is a hybrid between a Zelda-style game and a vertical scrolling shoot'em-up. For a NES game, the depth of gameplay was pretty shocking, with numerous selectable weapons which could each be upgraded multiple times, along with all sorts of other goodies. This game also features a pretty awesome OST and some truly crazy boss fights; I think the developers may have a strange fixation on eyes.

Games I regret buying:
Lost Odyssey - bought it from the recommendation from a good friend. Ifigured out the story in about 3 minutes, but then spent another hour trying to figure out why my friend liked the game. I stopped taking recommendations from him.
Kingdoms of Amalur - Again bought off the recommendation of a friend. The voice acting was atrocious, the lore of the world was horrible as per the writing of R.A. Salvatore, I fought the combat uninspiring as well as the class system.
Red Faction: Guerilla - Yet another recommendation game. Is anyone else sensing a pattern here?
Guild Wars 2: While I enjoyed Guild Wars immensely, and spent a ton of time playing this game for the past year and a half, I forgot how horrible ArenaNet was at balancing their games. It gets annoying when the "meta" of the game switches randomly from patch to patch...
Games I would regret buying if I didn't get them as gifts:
Destiny - While I do spend a ton of time playing it it really belongs in the "regret" area. It's boring, tedious, and lacks any semblance of a story. Unfortunately, it is a major time sink while I wait for something interesting to come out.
Borderlands 2: It never really caught my interest like the first one did. I don't think I even made it to the first town. Of course that may be because the friends I were going to play with instantly ditched it for Torchlight 2. Perhaps I need to get better friends?

The hell are you talking about? It's a ' play once every few weeks' kind of game. No one plays it 24/7.

Destiny is an epic fail caused by greed. Borderlands 2 is one of the best FPS experiences in the last 4 years. You don't need anyone to enjoy this game. Lots of diverse areas and missions with supercool weapons. It has a good story. Nuff said.
You don't like Borderlands 2 for those reasons? Go play COD:MW3 which doesn't have any of them.
Can't kill in GTA IV? Just grab a MP5 and headshot everyone!
And...

Regret buying.
Mindjack it's ****** mindjack what needs to be said.
That's about it really. I could probably talk about GTA 4, the last of us or tomb raider and how much I hated them but I only spent like £10 to £20 on each so I didn't really regret it that much.
When it comes to not regretting. Well everything I haven't sold off.

Games I don't regret buying... LittleBigPlanet. It had a more robust single-player than I expected, and the Level Editor was delightful. Dark Souls. It was on sale for all of $7 and I got roughly 150-200 hours out of it. Planescape: Torment, because Planescape: Torment.
