If you bought Daikatana when it first came out, I can kind of understand.

But if you bought it just to see how bad the game was, you deserved that one.  :D

Nah, got it when it first came out. It was one of the first games I bought Myself, funny enough. .-.

I can add to Regret list:

- Empire Earth II (somehow) & III (absolutely). Their graphic was better, but everything else was screwed up.

- Loki

- Heroes VI

- Civilization IV (gameplay/AI is broken/unbalanced)

- Rise of Nations (complex, but not likeable strategy)

King's Bounty,

If you were expecting a masterpiece you were wrong. (The Legend) It's a solid 8/10. Gameplay is the best aspect, plus artstyle and exploration. There are many huge lands to explore and interesting enemies and bosses. It's an alternative Heroes game with some differences. It has proper amount of dialogues . Story is existent, not praiseworthy but OK.

But what is there not to like?

King%27s_Bounty_Armored_Princess_cover.p

Is even better.

But what is there not to like?

The game eventually gets repetitive.
The quests often feel hollow.
The gameplay is entertaining for a few hours, but didn't engage me enough for the whole thing.

It's not a bad game, but I regret buying it. Maybe I'm too much of a cheapass these days :P

Regretted:
Red Faction: Guerrilla(Not a bad game, I loved it on the 360, however I wasn't able to play it on the PC due DRM bullshit. 4USD down the hole.)

I know this is an epic thread necro, but...

Nordic has done a lot of patching on RF Guerrilla, Games for Windows Live is GONE (replaced by Steamworks). So the DRM issues you had are probably gone now (Steam has its issues, obviously, but it's better than GFWL).

I deeply regret these purchases.

  • Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. My love for this series made me purchase it on a whim. It was absolutely terrible, and Phantom Pain better make up for it.

Word?

Hmm, games i regret buying? This one "Rampage" game on the gamecube  immediately comes to mind. Can't think of others ATM(extremely rare of me to buy a game I regret getting nowadays).

As for games I don't regret buying, uh.... all of the ones I enjoyed?

Yeah, GTA IV is kind of weak. More so when it's following up San Andreas. Add on Saints Row 2 being a more entertaining game all around and Rockstar dun goofed with it.

I think IV has its own charm to it, particularly if you're into a more slow-paced, grayer GTA. I found some of the missions and multiplayer being pretty enjoyable. The story was pretty sweet and even fun with some of the choices. Plus, Niko was a better protagonist than all three of the stooges combined.

What I couldn't stand is the lack of jets and the turrible PC optimization. I'm still amazed Rockstar managed to learn from that with V. Here's hoping for a RDR port.

But yeah, I think SR2 was superior if you wanted a follow up to San Andreas.

I regret when hype takes over and I get a new Madden, I haven't done it in a few years so I think I'm cured. I would say I regret getting Destiny since it should of been so much more. Also I regret getting MW3.

Any Ubisoft game that requires Uplay. I have an issue where it crashes on start up and I have no idea how to fix it. I bought Anno 2070 at full price and have yet to play it.

Probably the only game I've bought at full price in the last 2-3 years where I haven't been able to etch out some level of enjoyment.

I'm sure there's a fix but having to deal with buggy DRM (Uplay) within DRM (Steam) cheeses me off.

Buy a console, buy said game on console, problem solved.

I have a feeling Ubisoft hates PCs...

Dynasty Warriors 8 - Empires

It's not a bad game, but the fighting is so simplistic.

The Ubi games I want to play most (Anno 2070 and MMX Legacy) are PC exclusives.

As for games I didn't regret, Rome: Total War.

Thank God I played it before I had Steam. I'd easily have 3000 hours in it or something. It's the one game I always keep on my HDD regardless of anything else.

I don't regret Medieval 2 (Probably over 600 hours), Mount and Blade: Warband and New Vegas (Both 300+).

I regret getting Empire on launch. Yeah, Darthmod is pretty cool but the damage has been done.

Ya, they're just so much improvement they could do for the Empire's games.   :crying:

EB? RS? RTR?

RS is the one I've spent the most time on, but I used to play EB quite heavily (dozens of unfinished campaigns  ) and SPQR before that. Never tried RTR funnily enough.

Nice. I'm an EB fangirl who still hasn't fully migrated to M2TW/EB2 yet.

I wouldn't see why you need to. EB I is stellar and EB II doesn't (yet) have any amazing unique features that demand migration beyond graphical upgrades.

Beyond that, I personally just like how soldiers and movement feels in the RTW engine as opposed to M2TW. Formations feel "snappier", "tighter" and easier to control.

That said, if you don't have M2TW, there are some really amazing mods there too.

Honestly, the Total War community (along with Bethesda's community) have shaped how I view modding and I'm flabbergasted that people don't appreciate what mods can offer. Shame that CA have made their games much harder to mod since ETW.

Any favourite faction(s) in EB?

I blame Sega.  :bandit:
