I mean beside the Inquisition possibly supporting the mages in the war, what other major political power in Thedas is going to openly side with mages over the templars. Tevinter would be the obvious choice but I'm not sure that their southern cousins would be alright with their slavery and blood magic policies. Also being in cahoots with the "evil" mages might not be the best PR move on their part. Beside them I suppose Rivani's mage-friendly Natural Order or a few Dalish clans might come to their support.

Anyone else have theories or ideas, because I can't see Orlais, Neverra, or Feleren helping the mages out.

I'm going to raise a banner for mages, Templars, and all the common people (elves, dwarves, and humans) that live in Thedas.

I think Alistiar's voice actor said in a tweet that if Alistair was King then he would support the Mages.

Hey, thanks I didn't know that. I suppose that would make sense that Alister would support mages, it's not like he was very fond of the Templar Order anyway.

It really depends on the circumstances I find when I get into the game. If I get into the game and every other mage I run into is eagerly slashing their hands and jumping straight to abomination status at the drop of a hat like they were in Kirkewall, I'm going to have a real hard time supporting that. If things are different, I might fall out another way.

Basically, there is a lot of wrong on both sides in this issue.

Please no.  <_<

I think I'm fine with Alistair-led Ferelden.  I don't really expect any other nation or group to be gung-ho about increasing mage freedoms, and I'd rather have as little to do with Tevinter as possible.  Being associated with the empire and the Black Divine would just make my Inquistors' jobs more difficult.

I'll be up for helping both sides and not helping either.

- If the mages are ,as another poster said , Slashing wrists and going abomination on us , then i'll be putting them down.

- If none of the templars are willing to be reasonable and compromise? they go down as well.

Both sides need to compromise and find a good middle ground.

My inquisitor will be waving his Mage banner along with Hawke and Anders. He'll also be waving his Dalish banner too. It's about time the people of thedas find out the oppressed are pissed off. We're not going to take it anymore!!

Fiona and Adrian seem like the prime candidates from Asunder. Dunno how the blast will affect things though.

Yeah, I'll probably be raising a few banners for the mages. I mean you got to hang them from somewhere right? Might as well make my banners look kickass while I'm at it.

(Sorry, couldn't resist :) )

Every outside force except for the Inquisition appears to be staying out of the mage/templar war, due to having their own problems to handle.

Alistair and ferelden wouldnt surprise me one bit, for all the stupidity he had in his head, he was quite level headed when dealing with mages.

Tevinter, mages well duh.... wouldnt be surprised if they are helping the red templars get red lyrium though.... u know, to help degrade the templar image more.

Anders, nope... hes dead... and good riddance

Orlais, i dont think will touch the issue as they have their own issues

Inquisition....  as much as i hate to take a side in this stupid war, we have been told that we have to pick a side.  Without any context, i would have to support the mages as they have a broader array of uses even outside of combat, where as templars are only good for fighting mages and demons....  usefulness points to mages... and since i have no context on who is doing what, i have to go with usefulness at this point

Mages and Templars are villains. They both split from the Chantry, not good PR with the commoners, and openly wage war in any nation they are in, bad PR with the nobility and other land owners.

I can only imagine any support for mages being for those mages who join up with some noble house or swear fealty to the kingdom they are in. I don't see why the nations of southern Thedas would support an independent Circle... a carved up Circle that is split among the nations, perhaps, but not a whole, independent Circle that empowers mages which could then carve up its own territory.

Their faith still dictates that magic needs to be controlled/managed/policed. Unless other nations adopt Imperial Andrastianism, I don't see them supporting the Circle, just their own Circles and mage citizens at most.

Ahh I may have a problem with that then as last seen he was being dragged drunk from the Hanged Man by Teigan
