I changed my view of the game after watching livestream with laidlaw.

I think I may have been too quick to judge the game based on youtubers footage who didn't know how to play. Although I still think the game doesn't look as good as the original demos a few years back, and I still do think the combat is too quick as well as certain particle effects getting in the way of visibility.

However, I feel more confident about the game now after laidlaw's livestream from here http://www.twitch.tv...are/b/576420619

So I am sorry I judged too quick. The game was not fully up to my expectations from impressions but don't think it will be a bad game in any way.

May be true but in the end all we can do is wait till it releases.

All I am saying is that not all of my criticisms are gone but I feel like its not as harsh as before.

Not doing an 180 here, there are still some criticisms I stand buy including the attack animation issues and obscured view due to flashy effects

Spoiler

So the same crap diablo 3 pulled? I thought this was a tactical rpg and not a action rpg. Can we at least make rogue tanks by giving them equipment with high defense stats or high strength?

I don't have much much problem with this if that is the case since equipment is level based and not stat based.

Pretty much.

And as for whether you could make a tank out of a Rogue...perhaps?  I mean, it might be possible through item crafting.  You won't see any heavy armor on your Rogue, but you could still give him the stats.  Depends on if the class armors are preset for certain stats, or not.

We'll either have to wait for more information on the crafting system, or for the game to come out, to be sure.  I haven't seen anything suggesting it being one way or the other, but then again, this forum's my only real source of DA:I info.

Which recent news?

increased difficult, lack of healing spells, no attribute point allocation during level up, probably needing to craft most of your equipment to do decently in the game, the button layout for abilities/attacking, having only healing potions to heal since there is no regen outside of combat. the list goes on. game play seems like its gonna suck.

Best guess?

He probably meant that we're only allowed to carry a limited amount.

Bioware wouldn't completely take away our sole form of healing; that would be insanity.

Healing magic still exists, it's just high end and requires Focus to cast. Attributes still exist, you just don't spend them yourself.

And health potions absolutely still exist. Sure they're capped, but they still exist.

They also replenish every time we return to camp.

The lack of healing spells bothered me until someone pointed out that this means we're no longer required to have a healer in our party at all times.  It actually gives us more flexibility in party makeup, by giving us options other than "spam healing spells."

To be completely fair, the DA:O combat animations were also pretty bad. Whether the new animations are an improvement depends on who you ask. But the horrible side step shuffle in DA:O was so annoying.

More flexibility would be very welcome, but I'm not so certain of that.

Warriors bash down locked doors or gates.

Rogues open locks and probably disarm traps.

Mages repair bridges.

Leaving any class at home can result in your party facing an obstacle during exploration that they can't get past.

True, but you also don't need to make that mage a healer.  They can be a necromancer or rift mage.

I'm also not so certain that we need to take all three at all times, considering how many devs have mentioned doing playthroughs with 2 rogues or 3 warriors.

Hm... I don't recall seeing it outside of the old Redcliffe demo, but I think it's still in the game.  If not that, they have other mage-specific abilities like creating Veil Fire.

This. Yes, I as well was kinda surprised about "no more healing" ...but really, I played DA2 recently, and currently DAO again. DA2...Anders is mostly a musthave for me on higher (otherwise way too easy) difficulty, and he always blocks a spot. It is even worse in DAO though ... warriors go down so easily there without mage-healing support it's almost not funny, and I find myself using either ye olde Wynne or Morrigan with healing-specs and some cold spells for good measure...but most of the time I simply try to keep my chars alive

And its teh same in other RPGs quite often... D & D ? Most cleric spells are ... just kinda there, while bigger healing spells are always superior, so why even bother with other stuff that might even fail when you cast them (saving throws etc) ? Its a bold move by Bioware, and I am curious if it turns out to be good. Have to play it though for that ...but I am positive for now and don't see it as dumbing down, more of a challenge to commonly used and traditional gameplay-approach to RPG-Combat

One thing i am wondering about. Are we gonna have armor and equipment that has some kind of healing element? Like +2 healing per second until 50% health.

EDIT:

Looks like I got my answer:

https://twitter.com/...699849311002624

So we will have rare equipment that replenishes health after kills.
