Qunari.

When my Inquisition is done with that slight distraction called the breach, then the real war begins.

The annihilation of Par Vollen.

Quit your pointless fighting. Your struggle is an illusion. Everything submits to the Qun!

I don't think that other nations of Thedas can actually beat Qunari. Divided, with conflicted leaders, various religions and ideologies, they'd be no match for perfectly organized and determined Antaam.

As Fenris said, if Qunari truly wanted to conquer Tevinter, they'd already have done so.

Inquisition (post/mid DA:I), while probably powerful enough to challenge major nations of Thedas, is very unlikely to actually be able to unite all humans - and that's what it'd take to defeat the Qunari.

Dragons. They already almost went extinct and were only saved by the refuge in The Silent Grove. The dragon population that exists now is very limited and still hunted.

If there is one group I would target it would be those who use lyrium. It's been the root of so much trouble in Thedas. If I could engineer a weapon that ignites lyrium from afar, killing people who have ingested it, it would be the start of a new day. The Tevinter magisters would be wiped out. Dwarven trade would crumble to scraps. Templars and mages would die together. It would be glorious.

That's my genocide pitch.

Sorry for necroing my two-month-old thread, but I figured in light of certain ~revelations~ this topic might be worth addressing again.

Solas says the ancient elves' immortality was NOT due to blood magic. It was just part of being an elf, I guess. And with Solas being who he is, and Arlathan having fell to itself and not Tevinter, and OGB Kieran saying an elf PC has "ancient blood"... what are the chances the elves (or.. some of the elves) will gain immortality again, and thus be in no danger of being bred out of existence by humans..?

I figure the dwarves are definitely screwed now, unless the veil gets parted and they become capable of magic again. We've seen enough hints of that.

Also with the Wardens trying to stop the Blights before they start, is this gonna screw the dwarves over somehow? Methinks so.

The Geth, obviously!

But Dwarves, definitely dwarves. Maybe Qunari if they go to outright war with all of Thedas?

My opinion is that the dwarves are the worst off. Not only is there the ever-present darkspawn threat, they're rather insular as a society. Although I suppose that if there are enough surface dwarves, they might outlast their underground brethren - heh.

As it stands now, the dwarves are more likely to go extinct than the elves. Most of them live underground in cities close to the Darkspawn and the Blight, which, as others have already stated, seriously affects fertility rates. That doesn't mean that they're on the verge of disappearing, however. With all the surface dwarves breeding amongst themselves, it would take a while for that to happen.

But seriously, I don't believe that any of the races will go extinct. I fully expect that within the next couple of games, the Dwarven cities will be visited, their caste system seriously adjusted (and if you made Bhelen king in DA:O, he's already taken back a few thaigs and given the casteless power and acknowledgement, so you've got that going for them) and some solution to their failing lines be found. I would love it if the surface dwarves and the "true" dwarves united again. From what I've read, the surface dwarves don't have the problem reproducing that they do below ground, and with the entire race combined, the Darkspawn could be pushed back even further.

As far as the elves go... I don't believe they will ever regain their fabled immortality. They have lost too much of their history, and have little to no knowledge of what they once accomplished. I believe they will make a new culture for themselves, and perhaps find a new home elsewhere. They're too distrustful of humans to ever truly be a part of their society, and many humans wouldn't want them to.

How are elves supposed to look in the lore?  I can't see many people being attracted to my concentration-camp thin Dalish Inquisitor with small man boobs or the Avatar bunny-rabbit looking elves in DA2.

Supposedly the most attractive race, but only in the Last Flight. Otherwise just very attractive to humans everywhere else.

Number 2 pick is Archdemons. I am fairly certain there are more Elves and Dwarves. Just don't quote me on that.

I would say the Dwarves. Living underground doesn't really allow for much in the way off fall back. I know they've slowly started reclaiming lost land but that doesn't really help population Numbers, it just spreads them thinner. I wouldn't be surprised if the next Blight ended up breaking into Orzammar.

Human DNA seems to be the strongest since a human-elf kid comes out a human, and a human-dorf kid comes out a human. HUMANITY STRONG! THANK YOU DARWINISM! THE LESSER RACES WILL BE OUR DOWNFALL! ELVES ARE A BLIGHT ON THEDISIAN PURITY! THE MAKER CAST OFF THE LESSER RACES, THE DWARVES, THE QUNARI, AND THE ELVES! AND SO THEY DWELLED IN FILTH, IN HUTS MADE OF DIRT, AND FECES! THE CHANT IS CLEAR ON THIS FRIENDS! THE ELVES ARE THE HANDS OF CORYPHEUS! HERE TO COMMIT THE WORLD TO RUIN! THE END TIMES WILL COME, NOT WITH A BANG, BUT WITH A SIGH! THOSE WHO DIP THEIR EXTREMITIES INTO THE WELL OF SIN, AND VICE, MUST REPENT, WITH FIRE, OIL, AND SWORD! LET NOT FLESHY FRIENDSHIPS AND BASE URGES COMPEL US TO SIN AND NEGLECT! Solas is not a trustworthy source. Even if he isn't lying (and he is damn well capable of lying) everything he says is true from a certian point of view.

Also could someone give me citations on dwarven infertility?

Come now, everyone knows that Human Chantry Sisters are the hottest. Just ask the Dales.

According to Varric there are 'tens of thousands' of dwarves living on the surface. They may breed better up there without the lyrium and the darkspawn getting in the way, so I don't think they're in danger of actually going extinct any time soon. It's hard to say how their population compares with that of the elves, of course.

(Fun fact of the day: there's a respected school of thought which argues that the human population was reduced to around ten thousand a mere seventy thousand years ago. The population may have been even lower during the era we were all confined to sub-Saharan Africa.)

The real answer to this question is the Fex. They're confined to Par Vollen and largely intergrated into the Qun, so unless the Ben Hassrath have a large Fex breeding program, I doubt there are many left.

Qunari also have to worry about the events in Dragon Age: Revenge of the Fex.
