watching the character creation video today from today and when they picked the dwarfs class the first thing mike said was "dwarfs cannot be mages because of their high resistance to magic." which made me think.... we need to fix this. give me mage dwarfs!

would it be cool for inquisition, that the fade and dwarfs connection to lyrium gets jacked up, somehow allowing dwarfs to use magic afterwards in the series. (all the red lyrium. shown from Bartrand)

cool? yes or no?

Might be interesting, especially if it includes a plotline that explores why Dwarves are magic-resistant in the first place.  The Ancient Thaig seems to suggest that Dwarves have this great, unknown and forgotten history, so perhaps Dwarves used to have access to magic, but lost it, along with their connection to the Fade.

However, if the Dwarves have to use red lyrium to do it...I'd rather not.  Bartrand and Meredith were enough to convince me that I...do...not...want.

dwarves are resistant to magic due to the mining of lyrium, lyrium is highly addictive and in thedas is a major economic entity. dwarves adapted to lyrium by cutting themselves off from the fade making them resistant to its effects. Not saying we wont see dwarf magic at some point but why they cant use it has been pretty much compeletly explained

I'd be down with this being a major component of another installment....mostly because I'd be down with dwarves having a major role outside of "mafia" in another installment :P

No.  I like that dwarves can't do magic.  It sets them apart from the other races and makes them more interesting.

I'm for dwarves not using magic.  I'm up for exploring their society more, but the rogue and warrior skills are magic enough.

I honestly thought dwarves where going to find a way after Dagna joined the circle, I thought she would be part of an epic quest later in the series to give dwarves magic somehow.

My issue is that if Dwarves are going to lose an entire class from the game, their racial bonus should be superior to the other races to compensate.  Make that resistance actually substantial.  Otherwise they are equal to the other races, just balanced differently, but without mages.  One of the reasons dwarves have such a low player count is they can't be many people's favorite class.

Oh man I'll be so pissed if a dwarven mage shows up in multiplayer. It's like the combat volus all over again. Cats and nugs will live together. Mass hysteria.
