mutations, woo.
if people can believe that transgenic organisms are by default poisonous or equivalent, why not that mutated organisms loom to more than twice the normal size?

In basketball, the captain/stronger member in the team isn't always the tallest, and he isn't vastly taller Then every me member or the team
.
Though this thing isn't ruining the game for me.
Yeah but basketball players also don't tend to get their skulls crushed for running their mouths to the bigger players. You think someone smaller would survive an argument with that guy? Also I think you are underestimating the idiocy of the majority of gamers. I'm almost positive more people will like this design rather than hate because they are not good at these games but still want to play them. It's not even that ridiculous. The guy could be a giant who knows. And dwarves in lore arent dwarves just because of their height.
Everyone knows that in Thedas if you are taller, you are the leader.

Would be funny when the Inquisition is a very big thing.. how look the inquisitor at the end of the game? Inquizilla hehe ;P

The 80s Pistons came pretty close...
ok... so i love rpgs activly emotionally obsessed even. I totally understand why this is seen as emersion breaking however, I feel as if this was purposeful, atleast with the human.
my eyes arn't what they used to be but that seemed more undead warrior then human i think there is a game reason.
even if there isnt this could be a symptom of a problem not a problem. the reason bosses are made larger is not only to make them easily distingishable but to allow their movements to be tracked and telegraphed more easily.
if there is a set amount of healing then damage must be avoided, if one of the ways of avoiding damage is active (meaning you must hit a button to decrease damage in some way) then you must be able to see the attack comming. Now image a situation were your party is bunched up attacking a single enemy if that enemy is half the size of everyone in your party there are 4 spell effects going off and a huge telegraphed aoe is about to go off and you couldent see it, are you going to be ok with that design? because most of the base wouldent be.
also this allows for greater challenge to be implemented if it can be expected that x% of damage could be avoided 100% of the time if the player was good enough this allows the difficulty cieling to be raised significantly, as the amount of perfection that can be expected of the player is significantly higher if the ability to avoid is assumed
lets not forget statistics like 30% of people who buy any specific video game dont have the simplest trophy of that game, basically meaning 30% of people who buy dragon age will never see a dragon in game (and 30% is an extreamly lowballing percentage, if you dont trust me go look up % completion on any trophy/acheivment

I'm da biggest, I'm da boss!
I'm da biggest, I'm da boss!
Fun Fact: The battle cry of the Orlesian chevaliers is WAAAGH!
Totally found that in a codex.
When i first saw that i was like what the hell? On my taste it is ridiculous i mean sure there are games that make boss huge but here it is just outlandish i mean there wasn't any other means to make boss look differently i if you are lazy you can just rank enemy with (boss) description.Making boss huge for me can work only on monsters but on humans not rly.
Now im start being little worried as first they force me to only 8 skills that i can use , then game give stats automatically and i don't have control over it add to that boss battles look in case of human like enemies ridiculous.
Colored names would be fine. Heck, give the mini boss a cape, or maybe a sash that sticks out so people know who is the leader (like they did back in the day to denote officers among men)
I for my self would preffer the coloured names... but it seems we have to take what we get
Spoiler
So a different colored name tag is the same amount of immersion breaking than having enemies grow to 10 feet tall?Even the dwarves?
*Head desk.*Having a different colored name tag or aura is now the same as enemies being giants, even the freaking dwarves.Screw logic.
The Carta Leader wasn't even the size of a male human. That being said he was still too tall and there should be some lore-oriented explanation, but I wouldn't call him a giant.
The others are fine, Duhaime really is the only one who looks completely f*cked up.
Something I really don't get about Bioware is the fact that they run around saying things like "Bosses are too video gamey" and then they do things like this.
They didn't say bosses were too video gamey. They said that turning TIM into some giant monster thing for the sake of a boss fight would be too video gamey. And they were right.
(This is also too video gamey)

Second:
I could see that working, since all of the giant mini bosses we've seen so far have been around it, except for the Avvar, all of whom are rather large anyway.
Still, I think the actual explanation is that it is supposed to help you tell the mini boss from his minions. I don't know why they didn't go with a more subtle approach, but if I had to guess, that is the real reason behind the sudden uptick in gigantism we have here.
The color coded health bar was more than enough in previous games.
I don't think that would be the case, Inquisition health bars show way more information that previous games ever did. Are they assuming that no-one will ever look at those? Then why put resources on it??
People come in different sizes, but if the "taller" npc models are reserved only for mini-bosses then ...
Seriously, this week videos are annoying the hell out of me
