Just because you believe something stupid and dangerous doesn't mean evil things you do aren't evil.

"Evil" is relative. By the standards of the Andrastean nations of Thedas, she is unquestionably good. She is actively working to return the Maker to this world.

But they are converting people. Whether that was their intent or not is irrelevant. And, by doing so, they are harming every single person in the world by denying them the presence of the Maker. The Maker will not return until the Chant of Light is spead to all four coners of the world. The Qunari are preventing this, therefore they are not just threatening the Chantry, they are threatening everyone on Thedas.

What are the Qunari's goals? Seriously. What are they? Oh, yeah, right. No-one knows. They eventually tell one person. How can they be helped? No-one knows. The Qunari, as far as any one can tell, are not even trying to get out of Kirkwall. Instead they are just sitting there, collecting converts and denying the Maker. And in doing so they are condeming the world to misery.

Petrice is perhaps the only Andrastean in Kirkwall who is genuinely prepared to live up to what her beliefs require.

They're not converting anyone, Andrastians are converting themselves because Andrastianism is inadequate. As for the world... not only does the line in the Chant only refer to itself being widely spread geographically and not to the exclusion of every other religion, but there's no realistic prospect of it ever being achieved until Andrastians get off the one continent they're currently on. And Petrice's actions are nonsensical in any case unless the converts were likely to have become great proselytizers later in life had they not converted... which seems unlikely, given how easily they converted to begin with.

Funny how no one even in-universe except her own mobs seems to agree. Elthina even said something intelligent about the Chantry needing to adapt (which Dumar presumably meant when he said that Chantry leaders saw the Qun as a challenge and not an attack).

The only people who are converting in Kirkwall do it of their own will. Disenfranchised elves and Shamus. In the case of the elves, I'd say that was a wake up call for the Chantry. The Chantry - and humans in general - need to ask themselves how much they've failed these people for them to go to the qunari so easily. Instead of just attacking Qunari, they need to take a long hard look on their own shitty way of life.

As for Shamus, who cares. He's a ****** idiot.

Without the presence of the Qunari, those conversions would not have occured. Remove the Qunari, you remove the conversions.

Maybe, but I think that's not even addressing what would make elves run to them in the first place. This sheds light on just how unhappy they are. Without it, everyone would be even more ignorant.

More to the point, if Sister Petrice DID appear as mini-boss, would she be 15 feet tall and hit like a freight train?

I don't think she can turn demon if she wasn't one from the beginning.

I sided with her during one of my playthroughs. It was intresting experience.. I'd like to see her in Inquisition when I importart that world state ^^

....you could do that? I always thought it was canon for her to get an arrow in the chest xD

Yes but it's hard, I had to use guide for it ^^

First you need red aggressive Hawke. Other Hawke's can't side with Petrice. When Viscount asks you to find kidnapped qunaris you encounter templar who was with sister Petrice, some fanatics and chained qunaris. You have to pick unique option for aggressive Hawke which makes you kill one of chained qunaris and thus side with the fanatic templar. Rest of qunaris attack you and you have to kill them with the templar.

When the scene comes where you usually see Petrice killed you are there with her. Qunaris attack her and you as traitor and after you kill them you can chat a while with Mother Petrice who reveals that Elthina kicked her out of Kirkwall's Chantry but that she will go and try to start revolution inside of chantry or sth like that. She says she will aid you in the future if she's in the position to do so.

"Evil" is relative. By the standards of the Andrastean nations of Thedas, she is unquestionably good. She is actively working to return the Maker to this world.

Except that she's willing to commit acts that are decried as being evil or morally bankrupt by her superiors.

By setting up Hawke to escort Saarebas into the path of Arvaraad, her goal was for Hawke to die and use this as proof of Qunari barbarism against someone attempting an act of mercy. Her plan was to turn Hawke into a martyr to spread hatred against the Qunari.

Furthermore, Ser Varnell kidnaps and murders a contingent of Qunari soldiers, having been radiacalised by her. When she sends Hawke to deal with them, she calls him out, but Hawke can express the belief that Petrice probably ordered Varnell to do it and she was trying to cover her own arse by decrying him. She probably planned for Hawke to killed by Varnell's mob.

Finally, she has the "heretic" Saemus killed to make it appear as if he attempted to leave the Qun and was murdered by the Qunari for it. If Hawke has been against her, she furthermore attempts to make it appear as if it was Hawke who was the guilty party who murdered him.

So, we have numerous accounts of conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to incite religious hatred, two accounts of kidnapping, the murder of Saemus Dumar and attempted frameup of Hawke, all of which we can set forth as evidence in the list of charges against her.

Yeah, whether if she believes she's doing the Maker's work or not, she's a religious fanatic and 100% evil.

Murder of Vicount son for a start.
Or shall I provide full list of her deeds?

I would answer this question but  Bioware Rules of Conduct prevent that.

That said, Petrice can be a major protagonist in future games, I hope she is.

Omg Sister Petrice <3

I love her. She knows the threat the Qunari poses and does what is needed. "So called" good characters will revel in her death, they might aswell send their kids to the Qunari for "Education" (read: Brainwashing).

Sister Petrice is a passionate, beautiful and strong woman who knows what has to be done to make the world a better place. Yes she uses you, because she doesent know you. Once you prove yourself sister Petrice and you become allies. But most people are so butt-hurt after the slight misunderstanding (Someone would call it betrayal) that they want to kill her (bloodthirsty monsters).  She might not be that bright or cunning, but she makes up for that in undying fanaticism and zeal.

TBH it kinda disturbs me how many enjoy killing her. She knows the real threat and does something about it. If it wasnt for people like Petrice the next Dragon age would be: Qunari: Age, where the only place humans, elves and dwarves can be found is in the codex.

Yeah except she tried to cheat instead of prove herself in any kind of honorable way. She shouldn't have had to kill a child in cold blood or try to manipulate/sacrifice strangers to prove the Qunari were a threat if she was so sure of herself. She's supposed to be a Mother, and I'm pretty sure sinning makes her a huge hypocrite. If someone tried to sacrifice me for their cause and I survived I wouldn't consider it a misunderstanding.

Wouldn't you agree that this would be great? To meet her as a demon and cut her head off?

Considering the majority of players killed her I doubt that will happen.

But they are converting people.

Peoples went to the Qunari and knocked on their doors . It wasn't the Qunari dragging them to convert .

And, by doing so, they are harming every single person in the world by denying them the presence of the Maker.

If believing in the maker mean taking one free will from turning their eyes on another religion...maybe the maker doesn't deserve worshipper . Because that's how it felt . How dare these sinner doom us ALL ! yeah right...

Petrice is perhaps the only Andrastean in Kirkwall who is genuinely prepared to live up to what her beliefs require.

Murder of innocent , gaining prestige due to it....then claim she is doing the Maker work? Yup . She did her job well..those arrows were well earned .

She used an unknown factor as a tool, she couldnt have known our purpose. But yes she could have risked being less careful and been more direct.
The Viscount's son was a young adult? He did in no way look like a child ingame atleast.  Also, the Viscount's son was a Qunari Sympathizer.
You are taking things too personal, she "betrayed" someone she didnt know who could prove to be a risk.

(Note: Im arguing in character btw :P )

It was interesting siding with Petrice when I was RPing a Qunari hating Hawke, and was one of the few situations in DA2 where you could choose how things concluded. I hope we run into her again.
Transforming her into a demon though? I don't know, I thought she was a very interesting and believable character, why waste a great opportunity to interact with her again by turning her into a demon? Seems kind of shortsighted.

Yeah, if anything.. I would hope people appreciate that. Whether they like her or not. The whole Qunari thing was a well designed quest, with many interesting choices. Act 3 was less complex with choices, I think.
