There was

I think the graphical difference between consoles generations and PCs is overblown.  On both PCs and consoles we are getting diminishing returns on graphics improvements compared to where we were 15-20 years ago.  Seriously going from Super Nintendo to Playstation or N64 was a much bigger leap then anything on either PC or consoles since then.

There are refinements sure, but it isn't like say Skyrim on PC was omygosh graphically better then on PS3 or Xbox 360. Sure if you had the system it would be better, but not to some degree that dimished gameplay experience between the two.

It wasn't like you were playing Skyrim on pc and looked like you were playing Morrowind on PS3 or Xbox.

That's mainly because games tend to be developed for consoles first, nowadays. They don't take full advantage of the PC's capabilities.

Skyrim, for example, had garbage textures even WITH the high definition texture pack.

How many % of PC gamers actually play on high-ultra anyway? Devs probably see no point in pushing too far on PC.

PS. I game on both PS4 and PC (AMD HD7990).

Dragon Age: Inquisition runs in 900p and 30FPS on PS4 and Xbox One
  • One can of War Table of fast travel.
  • There is necromancy in the game, but no blood magic.
  • There is no healing spells - instead, one must use potions or healing grenades, which create a "healing field", which returns every life is standing.
  • Tactical Camera allows you to pause time in combat at any time and to give instructions to the team members. You can tell them where to go or what they do.During battle, this Tactical Camera can be called multiple times. If you lose, the way you can also simply run away and escape.
  • PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is Dragon Age: Inquisition run at 900p and 30FPS. PC Specs have not been revealed.
  • One can not swim.
  • Fall Damage recovers itself, but only very slowly.

Funny how in the video stream of DA:I on PS4 one guy asked which is the resolution of the game on PS4.........and one of the dev (sorry don't remember the name) said "You can figure it out"...........

Should I think bad? or Should you call me paranoid? :P

If you watch the latest Twitch video at 6:45, somebody asked the question about DAI's PS4 resolution. The question wasn't answered. Probably for the best.

Ubisoft have made a fool of themselves with their "cinematic" excuse. Why can't they do what Naughty Dog did and release the game at 1080p 60 fps and then give players the option to choose 30 fps if they really want a cinematic experience.

It's not how it works. Devs make ultra high res textures by default. This is because you can then scale it downwards to fit the console hardware, whereas if you made small textures and scaled up to fit the hardware, you would end up with pixelated blocky textures. Since these ultra res textures already exist, some devs release them as optional free DLC, e.g. DA2, SOM, Skyrim. Also devs will most certainly use the ultra high res textures at conventions.

Only 5% of people ever played as a dwarf in DAO and yet Bioware spent a lot of time and resources in creating the dwarf race.

That argument doesn't really work, sorry.

Exactly.

I also am of the opinion there is less incentive to stick to the PC platform if you aren't going to try to play on high or higher setting. Currently, in my opinion because developers seem to want parity between all platforms, if you want to play on "high" settings a console is the way to go if you don't have the cashflow to upgrade your PC. This is why I believe a lot of the PC gamers will probably play on the higher settings unless they are only sticking to the PC because they can't afford a console right now or because of being used to playing with mouse and keyboard. I fear that this console generation thanks to developers aiming for parity can be devastating for PC gaming. What is the point in getting better hardware as long as there is little to no difference in the way the game looks on PC and consoles? I fear that the developers can push me towards console gaming the way they are currently developing games.

No. They said nothing like that on the livestream.

That's still about 145,000 people who played as a dwarf. Using percentages makes the figure look small But with sales around the 2.9 million mark 1% is still a significant number of people.

Why would you need a dev to spell it out for you? Most people embroiled in the AC parity debate know it is just down to inferior hardware. That is the bottom line. But of course a dev cannot say that because they would then be insulting Microsoft.

The best thing for BW to do is just keep their mouth shut. If Ubisoft is anything to go by, nothing they say or do will appease the fans, and it is better that BW does not embarrass themselves by coming up with a "cinematic" excuse.

They didnt actually confirm that in the stream, just skipped the question. Those figures look like the ones Ubi is using

Oh NO!!! I don't know wether it's  because of bottleneck of new consoles or Microsoft's money, but please DO NOT CREAT some "parity",to be honest you and Ubi are not "qualified" to do those things,DAI is not COD,not GTA. this only will hurt your reputation and the sales of it

No one has come out and said what the graphics are going to be. The specs have yet to be released on any of the platforms. I watched the twitch feed the article is taking it's information from and they deliberately deflected the graphics question and did not answer it.

True. I'd rather they do that pull marketing BS out of their ass. Everyone who cares about such things just knows the ''next-gen'' console hardware sucks, no need for explanations.

However, the article cites ne sources and in the stream, they explicitely did not say what resolution it runs at. I'm pretty certain the game is 30FPS, but the resolution is still a bit of an unknown. You can't really figure it out in Twitch, since that always downscales graphical quality.

Let's not spread false information, shall we?

Unless it's something BioWare said, I see no point in speculating.

Not necessarily. The fact that it's at 60fps should have you jumping for joy, for what good is it to sacrifice frames for higher resolution?

But spreading false information and speculating is BSN's bread and butter. What would we be if we had to use facts?

Couldn't give a sh!t about your console wars or pc elitism.

PC Elite: "I have a custom built PC with GeForce GTX TITAN Z, over 2000 GB and 4.8 ghZ I can run all the latest games on their highest settings. I am superior to you console peasants."

Console peasant: "I have a girlfriend."

PC Elite: *Spirals into depression*

It'll be funny if these PC elite guys weren't serious and many of them are. I have no idea why anyone would spend hundreds of pounds each year on the latest card (or £2,000 as that particular card above costs) just to run games on ultra settings as if the better close wall textures even matter in Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor when you're mostly just running around all the time. I mean you just need to buy a new graphic card every couple of years and it'll cost the equivalent of a console but you see so many people on YouTube who go out and buy the latest cards each year or even spend thousands on the extreme ones. For me, ultra graphics aren't worth that much money.

I have a decent desktop which can run most recent games on medium to high settings. I also have a 360 and PS4. I play games for enjoyment, not for their graphics and if you're playing on PC just for graphics then lol. Most of these PC elite play the same casual games as console guys (i.e Call of Duty) whilst missing out on PC exclusives with controls that wouldn't work on consoles (i.e Divinity Original Sin, ARMA 3, etc). I can't believe some people build up a PC to play games like Call of Duty but they do.
