I don't want to give you false hope or anything, but to be honest, you're very borderline and I think the only way to tell if you can run DAI for sure is to actually test it (or BF4). These AMD APUs don't have dedicated VRAM.

No false hope just awesome help for a really Super Tech Stupid person like me. :)

Do you think it's worth it to bring my laptop in and upgrade my graphics card or just get a new laptop? If it's get a new laptop any recommendations that won't break the bank? LOL I put my specs below.  Thanks again for being so helpful!!

HP Pavilion Laptop

Windows 8.1

Processor AMD A10-5745M APU with Radeon HD Graphics (AMD Radeon HD 8610G)

2.10 GHz

RAM 6.00 GB

64-bit Operating System, x64 based processor

I had a GTX 750ti and that card performs surprisingly well.

I think you could probably even get away with a couple of settings on high, especially if you overclocked that card. And you should, they typically overclock really well  :D .

yup.

Good to know!  I planned on overclocking.   Thanks!

good enough for high settings.

Yuuuus!

I was so happy when I saw 660 GTX as recommended, I was hoping my "medium quallity range" PC could run DA:I well!

Hello fellow BSNers!

I am a complete dummy at PC specifications so I would love if someone could tell me how my PC would run DA:I

I have:

Nvidia Geforce GTX 660

Intel-Core i5-4440 CPU 310GHz

Windows 8 64 bit

8 GIGABYTES RAM

Thanks for the feedback in advance!

Your PC just meets the recommended PC requirements. You'll probably be able to play at the highest setting, but you may see some performance loss. That would largely depend on what type of anti-aliasing feature you use (SMAA/MSAA/TXAA/etc.) as well as if you enable v-sync to prevent screen tearing.

Macs aren't built for gaming, not to mention bootcamp with Windows is an absolute disaster for many games. You'd probably be able to play it on lower settings depending on how much RAM you have, but I wouldn't expect anything beyond that. Not only is it limited because its a laptop, but it's also a Mac which doesn't have a lot of support for gaming.

This is all false. Windows on a Mac is Windows.

The only sticking points are the graphics (is it one of the dual-GPU systems?), the desired resolution (trying to drive the full retina resolution is bonkers), and the amount of system RAM.

So if I wanted to run on high settings I'd need something stronger?

the gtx750ti has ~85% of the 660´s performance, so yes, i assume you need a more powerful card for high settings, but that also depends on the resolution you use.

Alright I got a

i5 2500k @3.30 GHz

8GB of Ram

EVGA GTX 570 with 1.2 GB of VRAM (man it hurts me)

Windows 7 64bit

I intend to play at 1600x900

I should be good for medium?

There's a really good video posted by Wulfram just a few posts back showing BF4 running on a worse setup than your laptop. You might get away with low settings and a low resolution.

In any case, you cannot really upgrade a laptop.

As for buying a new laptop, my knowledge is out of date unfortunately since I bought my laptop last year. Reddit has always been a helpful bunch for that though.

i think so. i had 30-40fps in crysis3 on high settings @FHD with my old 560ti.  but you really could upgrade your gpu, the cpu is still very good.

I've has no problems running Win 8 and updating GPU drivers on my MacBook Pro. I just wanted to know how the GPUS on the MacBook Pro compares to the recommended and minimum GPUs.

That's probably not enough, I'm sorry to say. I suspect you'll get a really sh*tty framerate even on low to medium settings. These things can vary somewhat though. Might be worth a try if upgrading is a possibility and you wouldn't have wasted the money you spent on DAI.

Thanks Again!! Upgrading is a possibility any suggestions? I like Laptops for the convenience not sure how much of a difference that makes VS desktop.

So I have a triple rather than a quad core. Do you think it will still work?

My full specs are:

AMD Athlon II x3 455 3.3Ghz

Nvidia GeForce G630 4GB

8 GB RAM

Windows 7 64 bit

And yes, the MacBook Pro includes a Nvidia mobile GPU which switches on while gaming.

I'd like to say thanks to everyone on this forum for all the support and help that is shown/given to each other. I am usually shy and have really just started to actually post instead of lurk around and its refreshing to see how willing everyone is to help each other out!! :)

I think you'll struggle quite a bit with that GPU.  I doubt it'd be playable

edit:  Youtube of someone playing BF4 with that set up

So it may well run, but we're talking 10-20 FPS on the lowest settings

Thanks for the information! At least it seems I should be able to play it on rubbish settings ha

The only game I've managed to run at full retina was SWTOR. The good news is, at full native resolution, I don't need anti-aliasing.

This is what i'm planning on buying--Game Debate says it should be fine on medium-high but I just wanted to check:

-  NVIDIA GTX 750 1GB
- Intel Core i3 4350 CPU
- 8GB 1600MHz Memory
- 500GB 7200RPM HDD
- ASUS H81 Chipset Motherboard
- 430W Corsair CX Power Supply
- DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW
- Microsoft Windows 8.1

You have to specify what GPU it has (is it a model with only the Intel integrated graphics?) and the amount of system RAM. (You can get system details from About This Mac by clicking on the More Info button.)

If it's a dual GPU system and you have at least 4GB of RAM, I can't imagine it won't run, though you may need to play at lower settings.

if you can spend more i would go for an i5 and a better graphic card, at least 750ti, or maybe take a look at AMDs R9 280. your configuration has absoluteley no reserves.

MMORPGs are an entirely different beast. They are generally CPU-intensive rather than being GPU-intensive. You shouldn't use it as a standard to determine what kind of performance you can get on DAI, especially since it's being built on Frostbite 3, which is one of the most advanced gaming engines in the industry. Your best frame of reference would be to test BF4 on your setup and see how it performs.

So, PC experts, can you tell me if I can run it on the highest settings?

Intel Core i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz

8 GB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 2GB

Windows 7 64bit

Depends on what resolution you want, but for most cases you should be fine. May have to drop down from some of the more hardcore shadow effects and AA settings, but you've got a respectable setup. And easy to make awesome with a gpu upgrade to a 970 down the line.

It makes a difference in that the same power is significantly more expensive in a laptop. I can't give any recommendations though, laptop hardware is a world of its own since it's optimized for low power requirements. It also depends on your budget. I'd say below 1000€ you needn't bother in the first place, and for that you could get quite a nice desktop machine.
