Would anyone be able to tell me if they think I'll be able to run DA:I on my laptop, and if so, how well? I'm not great at understanding system requirements, so help would be appreciated!

Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz

RAM: 16GB

Microsoft Windows 8, 64-bit

Video Card 1: Intel® HD Graphics 4600

Video Card 2: NVIDIA GeForce GT 745M

Thank you in advance!

What resolution is your display? 1080p would be a stretch, but 1366x768 should be fine, or if your display is 1080p, you can downscale to 1280x720 or try 1600x900. Make sure your 745m is activated (some power settings will kick you down to the integrated Intel graphics), and would be good to invest in a decent laptop cooler.

Those minimum requirements are really low. I guess that engine really does scale

What resolution is your display?

My display is 1920 x 1080! If I upgraded my graphics card would that allow me to play on a higher setting, or do you think that'll even make much of a difference? Lol.

high settings: yes. maximum with high-level AA: no.
srsly, nobody knows how much graphic power DA:I will need for maximum details yet(okay, maybe the devs know?).

You can't upgrade your graphics card on that laptop. Very, very few laptops will allow you to do that.

Try setting the game to 1600x900 resolution and play around with the settings like turning off anti-aliasing, etc. Depending on how fast you like the frame rate to be, you might even run it at 1080p on low settings. Will be smoother at 900p or 720p though.

3GB VRAM recommended spec, so there might be some issues with stuttering if you use the highest texture setting or maybe they have a downsampling setting that needs higher VRAM.

I'm so sorry for so many questions... Do you think I'd be better off with a PC? I hadn't intended on upgrading so soon, but I really want to run this game without any problems (and I'd like it to look nice, too!). Thank you again for your help, and feel free to ignore all the questions!

Try it and see, maybe you will be happy with the settings at lower resolution.

However, if you have the budget to get a new laptop or desktop, of course it will look much better at 1080p and higher settings.

for gaming a desktop pc is always much better than a notebook.
but: first look how good the game runs on your notebook, and if you dont get what you want, then buy a desktop-pc. but please: NO OEM!

Not always, there are now some laptops with GTX 980m 8GB VRAM that blows away a lot of desktop cards.

I wish these specs had been released when pre-order was made available. Truth be told, they should have been.

yes, but they cost 3000 bucks and deliver the performance of a 1500$ desktop-PC. also 8GB on this card is BS.

doubtful that it blows away the desktop 980. pound for pound, desktop is always better.

VRAM used to be unimportant, but now there are more and more games using high res texture streaming and downsampling settings that use it. These cards just came out and already there are some games asking for 4GB or 6GB VRAM.

I wouldn't be surprised if in a few years 4GB VRAM is no longer enough for highest settings in many games.

yup, but i doubt that the GTX980M is powerful enough to make use from its 8GB. thats a bit like all these low-end crapcards with 4GB VRAM (usually DDR3^^).
and btw, this abnormal VRAM-usage of some games is just ridicoulus and the effect of horrible programming imo. i was able to run Crysis3 at high settings with a GTX560Ti, which had 1(!)GB VRAM...

Hey guys, can you have a look at my laptop's spec as well?

i7-2720QM @ 2.20GHz

8GB RAM

Radeon HD 6770M (Huh, it  says 4000 mb of total memory on 32 bit but it goes 726 MB on 64 bit..)

Windows 7, 64 bit

I run games on 1366x768 res.

Tough one to say, it's a low-mid range GPU and the i7-2xxx series is quite old but still performs better than newer i5's. I'd guess you might be able to get away with low settings, but the only sure way to find out is to test it out on DAI or BF4.

I just saw the specs, and I'm so happy that my recently upgraded PC slays the requirements. I just finished texting the guy who built it and thanked him profusely, offering him my firstborn kitty in gratitude (just kidding!). :)

I think the only thing that could make me happier now would be to find out that the game will be easily moddable. Sigh.

Of course it's slower than the desktop 980, but it is faster than most desktop cards out there, and it's available in some pretty amazing laptops. P35x v3 is starting at $2100 and only 0.8 inches thick, cheaper than the Razer Blade.

Also, it has 8GB VRAM, so it meets Shadow of Mordor recommended specs to use the Ultra texture pack with downsampling. The desktop 980 cards currently on the market have only 4GB VRAM and are below specs for this game. Even if you have a beastly desktop with four GTX 980's in SLI, the frame buffer is mirrored and you are still stuck with only 4GB VRAM.

Thank you! I ran BF4 (Although I deleted the game after playing it for like.. 10 mins) on low-medium ish setting I think, frame was a bit unstable but at least it was playable lol.
