i assume you wont have that much fun with your 560ti. it may has 2GB VRAM, but it´s still a 560ti. the 660 already is about 35% faster.

looks good. if you want to upgrade something, then the gpu. btw 7850 or 7870?

I don't mind dropping AA in game, rather hold off until we see what the Nvidia 960 can do,not to mention AMD new models as well.

I shall award it with both a half heart and half star for a proud hybrid steart.

Well, AMD only supports Windows 8.1 (they no longer officially provide drivers for 8.0), so that may be the reason for it. (Didn't Microsoft make it mandatory for future security updates as well?)

I am terrible at reading PC specs. I'm just going to post from dxdiag verbatim:

- System -

Processor: Intel® Pentium®, D CPU 3.00GHz, (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz

Memory: 4096MB RAM

Page file: 1851MB Used, 6333MB available

DirectX Version: DirectX 11

- Display -

Chip Type: GeForce 9800 GT

Approx. Total Memory 2796 MB

I am running Windows 7, so I don't need to worry about that.

So... how's it looking for me?

to be honest, that sounds terrible. go for the i7 4790K which has 4 to 4,4GHz (not that the 4770 is a bad CPU, it is also a very good one), and, much more important, replace this GTX745 crapcard with a better one (srsly, this card is an insult to the GTX-label. hell, even the GTX750 is much better than this eyecathing crapcard) like a GTX770 or R9 285/R280X, or maybe the upcoming GTX960 (Q1 2015).

Darn. :/ If I WERE to get the PC with the i7 4770 but replace the card with a GTX770 like you suggested, do you think I could run the game decently (or at least better than on low settings like I will have to on my laptop)? It looks like anything with i7 4790K is sadly very out of my price range. Is the i7 4790K the bare minimum for their recommended specs, or is it more top of the line? (Sorry, I'm so not good with these things...)

bad, because your CPU is an almost ancient dualcore, gpu is very old too but still enough for low settings.

as i said, the 4770 is a very good CPU and more than powerful enough to run DA:I, so dont worry because of it.
but i have to revise what i said, don´t buy a GTX770, it usually has only 2GB VRAM which makes it not really futureproof. wait for the new GTX960 (i dont know when the new AMDs are coming), or buy a R9 280X.
important: which PSU does this rig have?

3GB VRAM recommended spec, so there might be some issues with stuttering if you use the highest texture setting or maybe they have a downsampling setting that needs higher VRAM.

The strange thing is this;

I bought the GTX 770 2GB and that's what it also says on the box it came in.

However, when I go to dxdiag it says it has 4GB of VRAM

What do I trust? Was I accidentally given the upgraded 4GB version or is my computer wrong?

Ah wait mine is probably more like this right?

Mine's an older machine but I think it's good to go on minimum specs. Only thing I'm not too sure about is the processor. Thoughts/suggestions are appreciated. Many thanks!

Okay, I won't worry about the CPU then, if I decide to buy this one. :) Thank you so much for answering my questions. I will also keep your suggestion for the GTX960 in mind, or buy the R9 280X.

I hope this is correct - it says the PSU is 240 W. If you'd like to see what I was referring to, I was looking at this PC and would probably like to find something similar: http://www.futuresho...27c562c515en02f

your card has 2GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM (if it would have 4GB it would be 4096MB btw), but somehow it can utilize 2 additional GB of your systems RAM, but it usually doesnt and if it would, the effect of it wouldnt be... good. DDR3 RAM is much slower than GDDR5 VRAM.

should be good enough for medium/high settings

thats not good, or, better said, not enough. you have to replace it. a good ~450W PSU from a quality brand (like Enermax or SeaSonic) is enough.
hmm, that case seems to be very small, not sure if a dualslot card fits into it...

Idk why you would waste money on upgrading a 770 to 970. Obviously the 970 is better but not that much better that it warrants the upgrade. Besides, a GTX 770 should be more than enough to run DAI on ultra, especially with the CPU you have.

The GTX 970 is a very bad investment overall, considering that there are newer GPUs that are almost as good and much cheaper.

Ah ok thanks for the quick reply. Not sure what the DDR3/GDDR5 RAM means but as long as I can run on high with 60fps/1080p I am happy. Not too fussed about the Anti-Aliasing and other "bonus" graphics settings.

For other games I'm planning on getting in the near future that are more graphic intense.

In regards to the hyper threading posts - games don't use it.  So don't count it in regards to DAI.  Also for games an i5 will be just as good as an i7 of equal speed and cores; again because games don't use hyper threading.

When it comes to SSDs they will greatly help your load time, but not actual game play.

^ I second that but to be fair, these future GPUs are yet to be announced and it's always best to wait a little before jumping on the new cards train.

But yes upgrading from a 770 to a 970 seems a bit overkill.

@BloodyTalon: At worse, I'm not sure you will be able to see the difference between Ultra and slightly tweaked High settings TBH. Unless you intend to run the game at max with a very high resolution (1440 for example). I would test the game with your current setup (which is already good ) and then decide if it's to your liking but that's just me.

I'm really horrible at understanding PC specs but little by little I'm learning. I was wondering at what level would I be able to run the game? high, medium, low? It's my video card that worries me. I really don't want to spend the money to upgrade to a new one right now and I'm really hoping for at least medium settings. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could weigh in at how high I can turn up the graphics. Thanks in advance :)

So... how would you recommend optimizing the system in a cost-efficient manner? Again, I'm illiterate when it comes to specs.

EDIT: Never mind. There's another computer in the house (not my main PC) that should run it better. I'll just build myself a new computer next year or something.

i have a 2500K too, great CPU, "Sandy" was with no doubt the best CPu-generation in the last years. nevertheless it will be "replaced" soon (new system).

take the FX6300. you could reuse the RAM (if its DDR3) and maybe the case, but i would look for a new one. gpu?

the 2 gpu I was pointed to are the EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB Superclocked ACX , or the Gigabyte Radeon r9 280 3GB Windforce. I was leaning towards the 280, since from what I have read it seems to be the better card. I believe the ram is ddr3. I take it there is no way to know what kind of psu I have unless I open the case? Are there no ways to have it detected automatically to see if that is something I need to upgrade too?

Thank you
