So are people of the mind that one 970 gtx won't be able to power DA:I in 2560 x 1440 on ultra settings?
Can't speak for others but my post was about 4K.

Looks like there actually will be! I just found out haha.
That's great news! ![]()
My current spec
Windows 7
Intel i5 3470
Radeon 6850 1gb current res @1366x760 (planning on getting a 1080p monitor)
8gb ram
I'm also a little undecided between
R9 280x 3gb vs GTX770 2gb.
The 280 is a little more expensive, but is it worth it?
Thanks for info

More and more games are calling for higher VRAM. If you can wait a few weeks, there will be some GTX 970 with 8GB VRAM available close to that price range, otherwise, 970 4GB currently starting from around $329.

Gotta decide for yourself
Hey Barrett, not to pester you or anything but last week there were a couple questions that you wanted to wait until after the stream to answer, and to my knowledge the stream didn't address them so:
1. Can we turn off/alter particle effects in combat?
2. The question was asked whether we could resize the UI components but Mike misunderstand as someone asking about the 8 ability limit. Can the hotbar/mission parameter/health icons be scaled up or down in size?
Thanks.
Although I already know that the 8 ability limit is fixed, I would like to know if we can access and directly use spells from our spell menu--or do we need to drag-and-drop them into the ability bar before using them? ![]()

That maybe true in other countries but in brazil prices don't change for at least 6 months after they have in other countries.
I've been looking at that and other sites for about a month but it's still very hard to decide.

Well I vote NVIDIA but i'm bias. I only own NVIDIA cards. Typically that card will run a little better and their drivers are generally pretty good. But I can't speak for the R9.

Ok thanks for your input.

No worries! I also wanted to have the stuff open so I could check directly and not go off incorrect memory.
1. Not explicitly, but effects and post-process quality can be adjusted. Adjusting quality may result in the leaner visuals you'd like, you'll have to tweak to your best liking.
2. I think hotbar is as it is, and health/quest/mission can be hidden (in non-combat or entirely), but not resized far as I can tell.

Unless there's a way I'm not aware of, they need to be on the ability bar (which can be swapped around whenever you're not in combat).

Alrighty. Thanks!!

Thank you, I just have a follow-up question about #2: can they be hidden separately, such that the health UI and hotbar pops up in combat but the mission one always stays hidden?

The UI might scale with the resolution so if you set resolution scaling to 150% or 200% it would shrink. But of course that's pretty demanding on your GPU.

My 780 ti gave me 60+ FPS at 1440p. Everything on Ultra, except textures on high.

Dunno. But I heard and read reviews that Watch dogs scales down horribly with GPU SLI. like the more graphics cards you have the worse the game actually does.
certainly it's Nvidia's responsibility to get it right, I was just wondering if BW has tested it at all. I understand the Bioware doesn't actually do any of the optimization, but it's a little harder for me to get in touch with the Nvidia software developers, whereas BW employees are very easy to communicate with.
Like I said, SLI is driver side. It has little to do with the game. Whether it works and how it works is entirely up to Nvidia. Given how this game runs on the same engine construct (don't know how much they changed it), you can try running it with Bf4 SLI profiles if the drivers do not support DAI SLI right from the start. But the how is something BioWare has little to no effect on.

That's because Watchdogs is a terribly inefficient game with multiple grave performance issues like insane memory leakage and so forth.

This is not entirely true. There are some things the devs can do on their end to ensure SLI/Xfire compatibility, and some things they can do to make sure it almost never works right. If Xfire is working right, I bet SLI will do fine, even there needs to be an SLI profile added after the fact.
The Frostbite engine runs amazingly on PC. It's had several iterations and the devs have done a terrific job at optimization on the PC. I wouldn't be worried about performance.

Health/portraits visibility are indeed a separate setting from quest pane.
On SLI support:

Look at the "SLI compatibility bits (DX1x)" tab. Right at the end you see Inquisition listed. DAI SLI profiles are going to be present at launch.

Any idea why they made the health bars on PC UI that is on the right of the character's icon? Why not follow the same like the consoles where it's below? I believe that way it wont cover up so much space on the screen as i find it distractive. Thanks for your time.
