True. But I think DAI's one of those games that deserves to be close to maxed out. (Plus I only play at 900p so hopefully that'll allow me to max it out). And yeah I can't afford small GPU updates XD I'm hoping this card lasts me as long as my 570 did if not longer.
I don't think you have anything to worry about and even if you were playing at 1080p, maxing DAI shouldn't be a problem.
If I remember correctly (I know the 800 series thing doesn't exactly leave me with the best credentials) you mentioned your CPU somewhere at the beginning of this thread and it was fairly above what's recommended and shouldn't bottleneck a 970, either.

Yeah it's a 95 2500k (I'm surprised that's not getting long in the tooth yet. Jeez that's a trucker CPU).
Hmm. Can someone tell me what is the differance between amd phenom with radeon r9 vs intel i5/i7 with gtx higher tier. Can these be mixed?
There is no difference per se (unless you're looking for a really detailed breakdown) and they can be mixed/paired however you like.
Just make sure to uninstall all of your GPU drivers before switching cards. So as an example, when switching from a R9 to GTX 970:
1. Uninstall AMD drivers.
2. Shut down your PC (and unplug everything).
3. Remove the R9.
4. Insert the 970.
5. Restart, then download and install the newest drivers from the Nvidia website or using Geforce Experience.
Done.
Hi Barrett, I was hoping you could answer some questions:
1. Is DA:I a 64-bit executable?
2. Is there support for triple buffering in-game?
3. Is there support for borderless fullscreen?
I am asking because you can't force triple buffering on 64-bit executables, so you're pretty much stuck with regular ol' Vsync unless there's a triple buffering option in-game, or borderless fullscreen.
Thanks!
As a side note, I thought the i5 2500s are clocked at 3.3GHz/3.7GHz turbo?
yup, thats why i said "locked at 2,5GHz". it was just an example.
Hey, I just wanted to get a reasurrance that if I have a laptop with ATI Mobility™ Radeon® HD5870 z 1GB GDDR5 VRAM GPU I will be able to play DAI. Checked already systemrequirementslab webpage and beside the GPU it says that my laptop passes the requirements. Its a wierd, because according to that page I should change my graphic card, even though it has 1GB VRAM, which is 2x more thats needed for minimum requirements, if Im not mistaken

First, SRL is not reliable.
Secondly, the Mobility HD 5870 has nearly the same specs as the HD 4870 with one distinct difference: nearly half the memory bandwidth. Otherwise it's nearly identical. So, technically spoken, the GPU is below the minimum specs.
The double VRAM size isn't as important as the memory channel bandwidth. You can compare it with a highway: memory channel bandwidth is how fast you can go, memory size is how many lanes you can go that fast on simultanously. You won't get on faster, you just move data at the same speed.
It might just work out if low quality DAI isn't too memory dependant, but it's right on the edge and from the papers alone, not much in your favour.

what i dont understand is why Bioware compares the 8800GT with the HD4870. the HD4870 is at least 35% faster than the 8800GT...

No idea.

CPU is Intel Core i5-520M, resolution is 1600x900, 4 Gig RAM

I got an Radeon HD 5850 1 GB VRAM with an i7 930 @ 2.8 ghz. I'm planning on picking up a GTX 970 when one comes available does anyone know if my system will bottleneck with my current processor at 1920x1080 res?
on the highest settings maybe, but you can overclock your CPU if its not fast enough.

You wouldn't bottleneck any known single GPU. Even with a less powerful CPU people are hitting the CPU limitations long before it would bottleneck a single GPU. SLI/CrossfireX, that's a thing, but single GPUs run pretty much without any problems on every CPU that's halfway decent.
Alright, I'm wondering if I should upgrade my card. Here are my specs:
AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-core @ 4.0
GIGABYTE GA 990FX UD5 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA
750W POWAH
16gb DDR3 of 1300 or 1600 mhz ram (can't remember which)
My current GPU is: GIGABYTE GV-N760OC-4GD GeForce GTX 760 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0
1) Will upping to something in the 900 series be worthwhile
2) Is the rest of my system okay with the new GPU, like, will it bottleneck anything?
3) Is there a GPU in the 900 series that yall recc?
4) Who put the bob shoo bob shoo bop?
There's no need to upgrade from a GTX 760 unless you absolutely want to. I'd wait at least until we get the first 20nm GPUs and would only really recommend upgrading if either the performance boost is significant (20-30% increase are not), or your GPU can't run the games you want to play (which won't be happening anytime soon with a GTX 760).
I've ordered all the parts for my new PC now, I'm stoked! I'm only keeping the case, the rest is all new!
CPU: Intel i7 4790k
Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7
PSU: Superflower 1000W Platinum
Mem: 16GB (2x8GB) 2400mhz DDR3
GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 970
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster Zx
Boot HD: Samsung EVO 1TB SSD
Storage HD: Western Digital 4TB Caviar Black
CPU heatsink: Corsair Hydro H80i
Bluray drive: LG 16x BD-RW
I also got some really nice headphones for sound: Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO (250 ohm)
They will last me until I can afford to buy new speakers.

I would also like to know the answer to these.
Im thinking #3 is a yes based on the engine, assuming #1 is a yes because of the req's, but have no idea what the answer to #2 might be based on the modification of the engine.
1. Yes
2. Currently not exposed as an explicit option; it seems to be a variable in FrostBite but I've no idea if/how it's integrated into the game settings or not.
3. Not presently but there's a bug on it. While I'm sure the engine allows it, it still needs to be integrated into the game UI/options.
Could anyone comment on whether my laptop can handle the game on low to med settings?
Core i3 3110M 2.4 GHz
4 GB RAM DDR3
AMD Mobility Radeon HD 7670M 1 GB DDR3
YESSSS.
Got my Strix. FINALLY.
Edit: Well I managed to order it I mean. Huzzah.
You got the Asus 970 Strix? or the 980?

970. Manged to snag it when it was available on newegg XD
