But you won't run Bf4 maximum graphics at 1080p with stable 60 fps with a GTX 660.

I would know, because I used to run Bf4 with my GTX 660 Ti on high settings (not ultra) and decreased AA to give me a halfway stable 50-60 fps range and that would still dip at times when lots of particle effects where onscreen. Am now running on the "competitive setting" (mostly medium settings with ultra meshes) and finally got to the point that I won't dip below 60 fps except for really obscenely action heavy sequences.

Oh no, that's not what I was saying. I was saying that BF3 using FB2 isn't really a good thing to compare what DA:I will do since it uses a different version of the engine. :)

I'm trying out BF4 today to see how it runs on my system actually. Will be interesting. :)

DA uses FB3 not 2. Seems like you're comparing two completely different things and making your conclusions based on that.

I was saying that BF3 using FB2 isn't really a good thing to compare what DA:I will do since it uses a different version of the engine. :)

do you really think i dont know that??
what i meant is that BF3 with the FB2 is older than BF4/ DA:I with the FB3, and when the 660ti (which is about 15% faster than the 660non-ti and has a very similar performance to the 760) cant render stable 60 fps on BF3 at ultra, it will not be able to do so on the newer, more demanding, game.

and...

From BF4 website for rec specs:
OS
WINDOWS 8 64-BIT
PROCESSOR
AMD SIX-CORE CPU
INTEL QUAD-CORE CPU
MEMORY
8 GB
GRAPHICS CARD
AMD RADEON HD 7870
NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 660
GRAPHICS MEMORY
3 GB
HARD DRIVE
30 GB

well, based on my experiences, the official recommended hardware is always too weak for highest settings. good enough for high settings with acceptable fps, but not more. for example, ubisoft recommends a GTX470 for AC:BF, but with my old 660ti, which is ~65% faster than the 470, i usually had less than 55fps on highest settings with only SMAA and deactivated PhysX.

you cant play BF4 with a 660/7870 at ultra with good or even acceptable fps.

Sorry for rambling...but ASUS is on my 4-letter-word list....

You have been incredibly unlucky and like others i am a massive Asus fan and have had many of their products over the years without a single issue.

I'm considering updating my ADSL modem and am considering Asus again, and they are virtually my first point of call for anything PC related.

I know I'm over and above the Recommended Specs...but in the back of my mind there's this lingering, nagging doubt that I'll be able to fully enjoy Inquisition maxed-out (with all settings on at least HIGH, if not Ultra). I'd love to upgrade my motherboard especially (getting rid of this p o s from ASUS, the over priced piece of Junk that is the Maximus Hero 6)...but I'm stuck with it till who-know-how-long.

My rig as it stands now consists of the following parts:

Intel 4770 @ 3.4 Ghz (standard version with a modified Corsair H60 Liq. Cooler sporting dual fans)
MOtherboard: Maximus Hero 6
GPU: 4 GB EVGA 760 Dual FTW
RAM: 32 GB DDR3; G Skill RipJawsX 1600s
SSD: 500 GB Samsung EVO 840
PSU: Corsair HX750 80+GOLD
Case: CoolerMaster HAF X Full Tower
Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster P2770; 1920x1080 @ 1ms

I'm sure I'll be perfectly fine....but....my fears won't be put to rest until I get the game in my hands and see things for myself....that's just he pessimist in me

VERY similar system to you, and I had a 2GB 760.

My only upgrade? Gigabyte GTX 980 4GB G1 Gaming

Boom.

some new PC screen shots

I must ask why the fereldan frostback is now fluro yellow? I mean it looked beautiful in the E3 hinterlands demo! why change it? now it sticks out like a sore thumb and does not even compliment its surroundings.

once again, if DA:I "accepts" HT you wont have problems. BF4 (same engine) does, so i assume DA:I will do too. the 745 is crap, but medium settings should be possible on FHD if the very low memory bandwith (only half as much as the 8800GT which is official minimum) isnt limiting too much.

Hell I'm fine with running it on the very lowest of settings, at least until I'm able to get my new card.

Of course I can only fit a 750 in the damn machine but apparently 2gb of gddr5 is better than 4 of gddr3.

be careful with your PSU when you change the card, the GTX745 is OEM, so is your system i guess. they usually have weak PSUs which aren´t made for bigger graphic cards.

Good thing the 750 has the same power draw then.

I'm pretty sure that Hyper threading is a hardware/OS thing, not an application thing. As far as the game application is concerned there is no real difference at registering 4 threads on 4 cores or on 2 cores with hyperthreading. In C++ you get the number of available processes by calling the number of processors function. This is not necessarily the number of physical cores, IIRC.

In fact, I believe how this works is that the application registers threads and the OS (via the scheduler) assigns them to CPU's/hardware threads as appropriate.

If you're thinking about upgrading the GPU, don't settle for the 750. Go grab its big brother, the 750 Ti. Hardly uses more power (60W vs 55W reference models) and sees a sold 20% more gaming performance at FHD over the non-Ti. Goes for around 20-30 bucks more than the non-Ti.

Yeah if you are upgrading anyways but the 750 is not a bad card either

Alright then. Off to Newegg to track down a version of the 750 Ti that will fit.

Hey guys I'm not very experienced with PC gaming but would prefer to play this game on my pc opposed to xbox one for a few reasons. The only thing is I don't want to sacrifice a ton in the way of graphics and while my card meets minimum requirements it doesn't meet recommended. If anyone could let me know what settings of graphics they think I could run the game on and how big of a hit that is compared to high (which is mostly what xbox one graphics compare to) I know this is an opinion but I'm ok with that.

OS: Win 7 64 bit

Processor: i5 2500k  CPU 3.3 ghz

Memory: 8 GB

Graphics Card: GTX 560

Direct X: DX11

You're about on par with an Xbox one actually in terms of GPU specs. The 560 probably has  less RAM though. You should be able to hit 1080p at 30 FPS medium or so settings.

Alright I've got one of those overpriced **** tier Alienware X51 R2's. The EVGA 750 Ti wouldn't fit because I couldn't get the latch to close.

Does anyone know of a brand, model whatever that would fit?

Edit for Point of reference this http://www.newegg.co...7-028-_-Product Is the one I tried that didn't fit.

I'm hoping that either this http://www.newegg.co...1-855-_-Product

Or This http://www.newegg.co...0-330-_-Product Will fit. Any help would be appreciated.

Edit 2: I'm leaning towards the ASUS.

This guy gets 50 FPS on low in BF4:

I'm guessing you can probably turn some settings up to medium if you are willing to stick to 30 FPS.

Low doesn't look too bad on PC too:

with 3,6GHz your i5 is more than fast enough for high details, your 560ti is ~30% slower than the GTX660, but should be good enough for medium/high details @FHD. dont know if 4GB RAM is enough for higher details though.
how about upgrading your GPU and RAM?
