Just checking in with a view to demystifying some of the confusion, if any, surrounding the requirements as it pertains to "older" PC (laptop) systems per se, there being comments and suggestions, etc. that may (or may not) dissuade players wanting to play this game but afraid to buy same at this time due to said comments suggesting their older systems do not meet the requirements --meaning old in terms of gaming that is, but not by standards of today's so-called work stations -- namely, Intel I5, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 64bit OS, Nvidia GeForce 300 series (driver 340.52 or better, etc) which especially in terms of lap tops was cutting edge per se in terms of entertainment systems some 5 years ago, but with advancements/improvements naturally come technical obsolescence as we all know, but no worries: with the recent patch out (and more en route), DAI is --with the patch--VERY playable on low settings, so go right ahead and enjoy the game.
Yes, you CAN play it, so-called "old" systems are just fine! IAs well they should be, after all, handles Crysis, etc.). Of course, if want the brilliant graphics which I don't for a moment deny await along with faster frame rates, etc. with a "modern" gaming computer, then get a better comp but meantime KNOW it's playable just fine on older systems, as described/discussed above. Myself, in addition to my above noted mobile station (lap top), I've a desk top PC which I do NOT use for gaming--rather, it's a pro photo and video editing machine, IPS monitor, SSD, etc., (don't mix business with pleasure as they say, but I have come to love wireless mobility as of late, changing my opinion on the matter, such that I've a new ASUS ROG laptop, I7, GeForce 900 series, 32GB RAM, 2T memory, SSD, etc. on the way, and will re-play DAI on this beast, hooking up the IPS for photo/video editing as required (for photo/video which is rather mandatory, gamers don't need it or care generally, anymore than they need SSD, etc., but I digress), but same time enjoy the mobility and the game as it is MEANT to be. Meantime, on the "old" laptop, it's thanks to the patch playable just fine, dare I repeat! (And thanks: without which patch, might add, having nothing to do with my system but all systems regardless of course, I was, sadly, almost ready to return the game as it was to put it politely unplayable due to bugs, but now that the first round(s) of patches have came out and fixed up various problems as everyone here likely already knows, not only able to actually get in game without constant crashes/freezing after a short play through (matter of hours, sometimes more than others before the system became frozen/unstable, necessitating a task manager shut down of the game and complete re-boot/restart (memory leakage, perhaps?), but ENJOYABLE. Would expect nothing less from Bioware, tactical system quite reminiscent of Baldur's in a way, and an entertaining game--thanks. Can't wait to check it out on my new system when it arrives, taking advantage thus of the new / modern tech and then some. Keep up the good work, and thanks again.
