Yes they are voiced by the same western voice actor; Yes they are designed by the same design teams..
But the appeal of their characters is in just how willful and fiery they are at their own place in their respective worlds; where they are not inherently evil, they strive to do good, but will make mistakes and hate themselves if they don't always make out well in the end.(In other words, never doubting that they should have done the right thing, but always having this sense of self-loathing for why the silver lining was a bit better!) They do this from different ends of the fictional worlds they come from: One from medieval / feudal Japan, the other from distant future.
So, yeah.. that's my anime-me!
