I tend to think most console gamers just worry about whether they're happy with how the game looks, and less about what others are getting, so they tend to be less outraged I guess.

I play on console because that's what I like. The game looks fab on it. I couldn't care less what the numbers are and I couldn't care less what a PC player gets. I don't even think twice about it. I don't know why anyone would get mad FOR someone else?

You may not care much, but a lot of console players do care what others are getting. If they don't there would be much less outrage over "parity" between consoles such as during recent incident with AC. Console wars among players is a real deal:)

That's irrational.

I just want them to know that.

I almost never agree with Sylvius, but he's pretty spot on with this.

Your comparison though isn't really the same thing.

The balance demands that when there is nothing to be angry about, you get angry over the first thing that comes to mind, whether it's rational or not.

Damn, first thing that came to mind was cheetos... welp, brb, going to assault the snack isle at my local grocery store.

Same thing as what? DAI?

My reply was to...

A lot of players in all "camps" care quite a bit what others are getting and it's not just graphics. Comment section following news about this or that difference between platforms can explode rather quickly. Is it most or few players who act that way...well, I don't know, but that's just how it is and I doubt it will ever change.

All I'm saying is that it should come down to the user's choice. Setting a hard limit on a game's fps and resolution due to a limitation of hardware (console) and then making that user still pay full price for what amounts to less performance overall...?

IMO it's wrong and that's why I'm surprised that more console gamers are not outraged by this.

If you think that's bad, then how about all of us on PS3/360 who pay the same price?

Grow up

The disparity between the 2 consoles is not that vast. In the end they are still both mid range gaming pcs'.

Low to mid range

Totally.. this enforces what I'm saying. Its ridiculous. in many cases actually PC gamers pay less overall through steam and other direct download sites for games.

For games on ps3 and Xbox360 to still have full asking price is almost insulting.

I eventually own most platforms anyways. Just not all games on all platforms.

Seems to me though that PC only players care more about other people than the other way around.

But you also don't have a physical product that you can sell or trade if you so desire. All my console games are on a physical disc, which means they are more valuable than my huge Steam library full of only downloaded titles, which I cannot resell for a large chunk of my purchase price if I decided to. It's all about what an individual gamer finds to be the most attractive option for them.

My household is getting DAI on 360, X1 and PS4, and we shall play all the things! I'm sure we will also add it to our Origin library at some point. ^_^

Parity is Bull. Its like saying, yeah we want that everyone has the same experience on PC, we restrict you to 900p 30 frames. Even though you got an octo-core 16 gb ram and an R290. Riiiiiight....

"For the people that believe that 900p is unsightly compared to 1080p, I've made a small comparison between the 2 resolutions. You can see that there is only a small difference in most cases. 1080p is better, but 900p is perfectly acceptable." Emmerin  (click link to reddit)

I'm getting it on the PS4, good to know it will be running at 1080P. Also, how do we know it's only 30FPS?

They'd be shouting it on rooftops if it were 60fps.

Why should they get a discount? It probably took more effort to get the game working in an acceptable fashion on those dated consoles than it did on the PS4 or Xbone.

It'a not Bioware's fault. They're utilizing each platform to their potential. Get mad at the console manuafacturers if that's your angle...

Because its pretty obvious. No way in hell DAI will be running @ 30fps on consoles and if was Bioware would have already announced from hell to timbuktu along with the resolution.

Props to Bioware, very good news.

By the way, **** you to Sony and Microsoft for releasing these horrible outdated, backward, pleb-tier console hardware that will keep the games industry behind when it could have progressed.

Having said that, FPS isn't vital for a game like Dragon Age

I'm pleased that DAI will be the best it can be on whatever platform you choose.

It will look gorgeous on my Xbox One I'm sure - whenever I see resolution comparison vids (e.g. Shadow of Mordor) I struggle to see any difference.

As far as frame rate is concerned, DAI has a load of particle effects from magic, fire, gas/smoke clouds and so on,

so I'm sure the fidelity settings have been balanced for that.

I honestly feel BioWare was always targeting 30fps on consoles anyway. I doubt they were ever aiming to go higher regardless of what horsepower the PS4 and Xbox One may have.

Not that I mind. As I've mentioned a few times already, 30fps is perfectly acceptable for RPG's like DA, so long as it is smooth and stable.

Warning: I am technologically impaired.

I will be getting DAI for the ps4 and playing on a 50 inch TV.  As I am quite limited in my tech knowledge, I have had trouble using Google to learn how fps and 1080P will actually effect gameplay versus the other fps and resolutions.  Anyone willing to take a couple minutes and explain how the different fps and resolutions work, say on a 50 inch TV...

Thanks, and feel free to add light-hearted mocking about my ineptitude when it comes to this stuff, especially considering my 3-year old son knows more about it than I do.

60 FPS on a roleplaying game would be a bad design choice, IMO. It would be a waste of resources in a game that wouldn't benefit the most from a higher frame rate. Cranking up antialiasing or increasing draw distances would be a better use of those resources and zots.

You are playing the game in a vacuum so it is going to look nice irrespective of the resolution argument. That's the bottom line whether you play XB1 or PS4 and on whatever television. You might notice a difference if you have a second TV running an XB1 or 4k PC beside your first TV to compare but nobody does that, seriously.

I'm going to guess your TV's native resolution is 1080p, which is the standard that consumers are moving towards, and will therefore match the 1080p output by your PS4, perfect. If you want to see what it's like to have mismatched resolution, right click your computer's desktop and select Screen Resolution then choose a smaller resolution than your screen's native resolution. You will end up with a mismatched blurry mess. It's not the end of the world but if you forked out $400 for a console with promises of 1080p 60 FPS gaming... well, can you understand the anger?

As for FPS, higher is better, and is more important in twitch shooting games where your eyes need to track fast moving targets. There are strange people who prefer 30 FPS and say it is enough, but then why can't developers do what Naughty Dog did and give players the option to choose 60 or 30 FPS? Maybe you won't notice, and if you are a casual gamer, you won't care as long as it plays fine.

The problem stems from the awful choice of hardware in the consoles, Sony/MS chose that AMD Jaguar APU (combined CPU and GPU). It is garbage, and was originally aimed at low wattage laptops and netbooks. But hey, it was cheap.
