You "PC people" continue to reinforce the negative perceptions of you with every reply.

And since this can of worms has already been blown wide open might I add that I myself was also DUMB about PCs before I decided to try and build one. Once I did I never went back.

You call me a "PC people" but I came from the console community. The truth is most people are just uninformed about PC mechanics and have no idea or no interest in building their own. And that's fine, nothing wrong with it. BUT using sales to justify superiority in either side is a result of ignorance and/or convenience, not true performance or mechanics.

So yeah, the pc market makes more money. Check ya facts. Hilarious that you tried to bring in the "free market" argument, only for it to backfire like this.

All of those articles are referencing the same source, a source which neglected to provide exact supporting figures.

Your argument is so not relevant. Those sales figures swing around from year-to-year. Even if PCs end up on top with sales one year, consoles will have them beat in a couple years again. It's a pointless argument.

I built a PC only to realize I hate KB&M gameplay. I'm the real dummy.

I'm not going to argue about whether the majority of console owners are just blissfully ignorant or have in fact made a well-informed conscious decision, because I don't know. I was just pointing out how it sounds when a "PC people" (would golden gaming god have been more suitable?) assumes that the former is true and uses it to generalize the community.

lol sorry. I guess you could always hook up a controller to your monitor and run the higher FPS/res with console UI

but that's sacreligious

As a PC/Console guy, I am happy I have never sunk to the elitism I see in this thread.

At the end of the day, until those PS exclusives start jumping to PC I'll keep buying consoles. I'd be missing out on far too many games if I gamed on my PC exclusively. I need my JRPGs.

Hell, Persona 5 is reason enough for me to own a console. :)

Your blatant antagonism is not appreciated. I made a mistake, and I tried to fix it before you even saw it. I'M SORRY FOR CALLING CONSOLE USERS DUMB. I speak frankly sometimes without thinking because I still remember when I was one, myself. I am not picking on the console community (in fact if you read some of my prior posts I'm actually defending it). I am also making generalizations about consumers in general, when people are uninformed about a product they very rarely elect to educate themselves about it and would rather buy something fast, affordable, and already pre-built.

I have no hard feelings towards console users. In fact I wish everyone would just get the **** along already.

Yeah, I might as well have saved myself hundreds of dollars to spend on hookers and booze instead. Oh well, at least I got to play the Witcher series.

Ok, all those use same source and none of them specify hard numbers.

On top of that, the source is including smart phone gaming and social media gaming as PC video gaming, which is more then a little ridiculous.

My point wasn't that I said one was better then the other, my point is that statistics can prop up any argument, but the very concelpt that one system is better than the other is flawed.

I can post two decidedly different arguments from my perspective on video gaming supporting both PC or Console in this argument and make it more convincing by the stuff I include and leave out.  However, I choose to enjoy playing on both and could care less that some feel the need to hold up their favorite as superior to the other.  Have fun with your measuring contest.  Ta Ta.

The source is reputable though, which is the point. DFC Intelligence is pretty famous as a company and good at what they do. So if you are calling into question the integrity and validity of the source i can tell you you are barking up the wrong tree.

What? The data shows the opposite of what you are saying, according to DMC(who knows way more about this then you, or any of us) the pc dominance will only continue is mobile platforms cannibalize the console market.

This supporting figures argument is rather daft. it doesnt need supporting figures, all that you need to know is that pc earnings have past  that of consoles. You started the revenue debate, im simply debunking your point with fact.

anyhow, "ta ta" as you say.

Either way the data necessary to paint an accurate picture of the trend is not present. There are other factors to consider that do not seem to have been covered in the report. Simply bowing to the supposed expertise of a source that doesn't provide hard numbers for fact checking goes against the very concept of professional accuracy through effective peer review.

Sales do not = performance. If you're going to start a flamewar about superiority, don't pull from consumer purchase. It's pointless. You think every consumer out there is intricately familar with graphics rendering and processing power? Uhh, no. It's about convenience and affordability. PC epically fails on both latters. If you want to fight your point, learn to concede with the other side a little bit. For example, I concede that consoles are more affordable and user-friendly. Just buy the unit, pop in the disc, and play. BUT I refute that by also stating that PC performance is quantafiably better than console gameplay. 4K resolution, MSAA and graphics settings, and new technologies such as G-Sync all inarguably put PC on top in terms of graphic power.

Good. Sometimes facts can clear things up for some people. ;p

Fact is that i don't care for about 99% of PC exclusives. ;)

DMC does not work for free, if you want actual figures you have to purchase a report from them. They do market analysis to sell that information, hence the lack of solid figures published.

Dude you arent making much sense. i was merely responding to the idea that consoles are more popular then pcs or that they make more money.

Also sorry about the grammar in my last few posts, im currently on a tablet.

Yeah ok sales are all good and well but some people are just too uninformed to know anything about PCs, let alone how to build a good one. Doesn't make PCs less ideal in any facet, so that argument holds little ground.

Some people just don't want to deal with the peculiarities of PCs.

That's definitely somewhat true. Every digital sale EA makes through origins is a sale for which they don't have to share the profits with anyone or use up resources making physical packaging and copies. I can definitely see them hoping to expand that PC market, where every sale on it is easily worth 5 or so copies at the retailers or on consoles, especially since they don't have to worry about the dreaded game trader/re-seller. Probably why they're offering more yet to be disclosed 'bonus digital content' to those who purchase the Digital Deluxe edition.

See, for me it was the other way around. Been playing PC for years, when i realized how comfortable an experience consoles are i never looked back.

I still have a pretty good PC for the occasional MMO. There is one game i'll upgrade my PC for, that is Star Citizen, when it comes out (might still be like 2 years).

Very true I stated this later. (And I get it, it's a pain in the *** hobby even for me--and I love PC gaming)

I know you didn't start the sales argument.

This whole PC vs. console war is very taxing, and very pointless. Neither one is going to die out anytime soon. Both have advantages and disadvantages. "Superiority" is a word that should be carefully chosen, because it can mean to include personal preference or be strictly about graphics power.

Let's all just get along~~~

I'm done

ya ya ok we get it you are cool, you are badass. you being done is a huge favor to everyone, move along.

All that being said, i dont consider myself superior to anyone, and somebody mentioned that consoles have prettier graphics, by that im assuming you mean art style wise, because in terms of the quality of textures and resolution there is no competition. Everyone has there own reasons for gaming on a certain platform and my opinion of it is neither here nor there, none of my business. I just think its silly to complain about limitations of console, knowing full well they are limited, and getting angry at devs for being incapable of doing the impossible... which is creating something better than what the console is limited to.
