Well according to the Prima Preview: http://www.primagame...rategic-preview

Of the three classes, there are several specializations for each. Mages can be Knight Enchanters, Necromancers or Rift Mages. Knight Enchanters summon weapons and have more abilities geared toward protection and defense. Necromancers use summoned spirits to help them fight and have abilities focused on area damage, such as enemies exploding upon death. Rift Mages are closer to a typical mage class, specializing in powerful offensive spells.

Knight Enchanters are our Support Casters. If my guess is right, then their lack of offensive ability, and need to be near the front line fighters for best use of their spells is why they summon blades of Energy.

For me I'll likely have a Qunari KE and a Human Necromancer (brings back good memories of Diablo 2). Will likely skip Rift Mage since Solas has that skill.

A healing Focus. Not a spell.

A mage casts it. Sounds like a spell to me. Seriously this nitpicking over game mechanics is stupid.

All right, stop right there. We're having a reasonable discussion, no need to get insulting.

Then police yourself, and let others do the same. And you should maybe consider that you called people whiners and the like yesterday in a different thread.

Concern: it kinda breaks the lore?

I have no problem with it. Only thing is, healing magic has been described as an actual thing that exists in that world.

So I guess a wizard took it away. Right?

Lost in the Great Apocalypse along with all the crossbows on the planet but Bianca, all Warriors capable of shooting bows or using two weapons, all rogues that could use anything that weren't daggers, and mages able to hit people with things.

You were going to have to bring a mage anyways. You need a mage to do things like rebuild bridges or activate mystic forges. You need warriors to bash through weak walls to find secret areas.

Ah, that explains it. They're not building a Dragon Age game, they're going for more of a Lost Vikings vibe.

Forums like this bring together people from very different places and backgrounds, and we all have very different expectations and desires. There's going to be friction, there's going to be disagreements, but we need to remain civil to one another no matter how passions may run. I may be 'The Loyal Opposition' when it comes to certain issues on this game but that does not mean I can be rude about it, so I apologize for any heated comments, and rude statements.

Anyways, anyone else think KE's will be our support casters or am I out of line?

I hope not. It doesn't need to be Arcane Warrior level of people howling how "broken" it is, but I'd love a mage that breaks the mold and can hang on the front lines.

But that doesn't seem to suit Bioware's modus operandi for this game, where each class can only ever do one thing.

The link to the  prima site on this game does mention protection/defense for KE's, so my theory is that they are the ones focused around creating barriers and increasing resistances. To be fair it's only a theory based on available information.

What are you talking about?  There is an Easy mode and a 7 year old child had no problems playing through the game at that level....

I wonder why the difficulty curve is so lopsided then? Why go from a "casual that a 7 year old can do", to "normal you will have a hard time in if not planning bla bla". Is seems like it went from Easy to Hard and just skipped "normal" altogether.

I also find it as an underhanded insult to adult gamers that might not be good at the game that "a 7 year old can do it", I'm looking at those story mode players.

For me the issue is more about a potential nuisance of going to a camp to restock. It is simply a bad game play mechanic. Doesn't matter what game it is.

Yes, they DID kill off healing magic. Going against their own lore established in two previous games. A single focus spell that can ONLY be used every other 5-10 fights and then as a choice of doing more damage or a "get out of jail healing spell".

Sucks for the players that loved playing a healer.

Like someone said, this is a single player game, choice is imperative. I guess Bioware forgot that. Except of course their own constructed Idea of "choice".

Now you are forced to construct a certain party mechanic and not be able to story wise take party members you like and want to hear more in party banter etc.

Always the mage for barriers, because a warriors guard does jack squat to your ranged player or rogue dual wielder.

Another questions, can you set up AI in this game for real time play? Meaning can I just focus on my Quizzy and then have a rule set for my FORCED to bring mage to cast barrier as soon as it is off cooldown. If I have to babysit and switch to the mage every time. SO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!

Why fix what was never broke.

What I'm hoping for is something akin to ME's Sentinel.
