I originally bought it on Xbox 360, but when that blew up, I thought about waiting around for it to be released on PS4. Bioware took too long to decide, so I bought it on PS3 instead. I am not buying this trilogy a third time. Too bitter about the ending to do that. So, I think it's just too late now. Maybe they could throw the Wii U users a bone, though. I feel bad for anyone who bought it on that console. No DLC, and just the final game.

I would absolutely pick up a remastered trilogy with all DLC for PS4.

Why? I loved the trilogy and would jump at a excuse to play it again. I got rid of my 360 and have picked up pretty much all the games I cared about on it again on PC, but If I wanted to pick up the "complete" package of all three games it would cost over $100 in just DLC. Which is insane. Plus the PC version does not have controller support which is a bit of a deal breaker for me.

The graphics for the ME games are still good enough that I can play them without going, "Ah, my eyes! My eyes!" I might pay for it to be re-written by someone can write a coherent overarching plot, but at this point in time the value of a few years of graphical shine just isn't worth it to me.

Remastered trilogy without DLC - why is that even an option?

Remastered trilogy with all DLC - wouldn't buy it, but wouldn't hurt anyone.

Trilogy pretty much completely remade with actual planning into making it work as a trilogy from the start this time, with all previous DLCs also remade and already integrated in the trilogy - would buy!

I would probably seriously consider getting a re-master of the first one... depending on how much they mucked about with it in the process.

But I'm well past the point where I would play through either of the sequels, again.

I'm not at all thrilled by the idea of shelling out this kind of money for content I've already played to death.  I'd rather Bioware focused its efforts on new games instead.

I guess if they actually did it I'd think about buying it more seriously, but if it were up to me they wouldn't expend the effort.

What? The new consoles can do that and some folks don't play on PC. That's such a condescending attitude to have.

Yeah, unless this "remaster" has more than just those two things, then it isn't worth it for us PC players.

If it would include all the dlcs and graphics improved considerably especially in Mass effect 1, I would buy it.

I guess for console only players it would be nice. But.... Master Race has sweetfx already, tons of mods and 1440p at 120 frames. So.... Yeah.

Spoiler

It bugs me, the idea behind the Reaper's long-term plan – or perhaps on their timescale one of the mid-term plans – was that the use of the relays encouraged society to evolve along the lines that they desired. And this fitted together fairly well with the idea that humans were late to emerge into galactic society, and their technology had gone down some non-standard routes. Which was quite an interesting idea, and showed up nowhere in any of the later games.

The second game: Taking a collection of relatively likeable characters, butchering them so that they wouldn't have any moral objections to working with Cerberus, and using them to tell a story which had more or less nothing to do with the overarching plot bar the inclusion of the occasional arse-pull reference. The Reapers would have got along far better doing nothing until the events of the final game.

And then, the third game has basically no idea how to close up the plot – butchering the thematic ideas that had been present in the first game, and using something that from a logical perspective doesn't make much sense, 'Oh it's the magical weapon.' To try to tie the individual stories they wanted to tell back into the larger whole.

No, on the whole I don't think it formed a coherent narrative. The coherent narratives were the ones on a much smaller scale; specific quests, specific character arcs. And some of those were very good, especially in the third game. However, the main antagonists bore very little resemblance to the creatures on display in the first game.

"Your civilisation is based on the technology of the mass relays, our technology. By using it, your society develops along the paths we desire."

There's something that they could have been mistaken about. And it would have been interesting if they were.

In all honesty, if they ended with the first game – or incorporated a significant time skip after the first game, so that the capabilities of the societies so warned of the Reapers could advance along a line that Reapers had not foreseen - then, in the first case the game would have retained the thematically authentic experience it had, and in the second there would have been the potential there to construct a far more interesting story.

The impression I got from the latter two games was that they had no idea where to take the series' plot as much as they preferred to tell a series of small character pieces. Though ironically, they butchered many of the interesting characters from the first game in order to do so.

But they didn't, and there's not too much point crying over a bit of spilled milk. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the games - with the exception of the second one which was just trully atrocious to me in any sense but the shooty shooty. However, for all that many smaller pieces within that narrative were excellent when taken on their own merits, the series doesn't constitute good story telling, at least to me, when it comes to a coherent overarching narrative.

That's more than just the ending. So many of the pieces bore no real natural relationship to the whole, to a degree where the story had to be actively de-focused, by apparently lobotimising half the galaxy and creating a magical dohickey, for their existence make sense even within the bounds of the story.

No. Unless remastering completely rewrites the ending of ME3, I suppose. I would buy that - basically from Cronos to credits, everything ripped out, reworked and given an ending that actually reflects your choices throughout the series in a satisfying manner instead of the drivel we got (even with the EC).

Now this...

"  If it's 1080, 60 fps...."

...is such bullshit. I'm so tired of how these magic numbers are always at the heart of conversation when it comes to new (next gen) games.  I hate it how gamers as some larger collective have reached this silent understanding where this is pretty much the only thing that matters with NewGen releases.

People don't ask for..say, better enemy AI, more varied enemies, larger crowds to citadel, destructive environment, better companion AI..

No no no. Screw all that. As long as dat sweet dialogue wheel spins at 60 FPS, game is NextGen,enhanced and mastered.  Gamers are too simple to please.

Wasn't aimed too directly at OP or posters in this thread as such; just so very tired how much more important 1080 anf 60 FPS is than..you know..like..the actual content.

Because those things are far less likely to happen then simply asking for 1080/60p. It would be a port of the ME games, not a remastering. You're talking about adding new content, which if they do is great. But realistically, it's better to not expect something that's unlikely to happen. 60ps makes a significant difference in gameplay. 1080p looks great and there's no reason they shouldn't be able to get all the games running at that resolution on these new machines.

But that would mean we lose the pro-genocide message based on weird racism. And how could we ever live with ourselves then?

You're right - I don't know what I was thinking. They should hire Casey Hudson back to make the message even better.
