I really don't understand the apparent fascination with getting Briala and Celene back together. It's pretty disturbing, really. It'd be like getting Marjolaine and Leliana back together.

 

Because it's funny as hell. The drama at the end of TME was hilarious too.

Come on, they are a train-wreck. They need to get back together.

 

Also, when we mark spoilers, can we please label which spoilers? For example, I don't care about TME spoilers, but I do care about DAI spoilers.

Whichever one gives me their best detailed plan to assisting me in stabilizing Orlais quickly so that I might stop the Breach - gets my vote.

Like many debates on this board, a large number of bioware fans tend to use "modern day" values with regard to Thedas. Sure, by our standards, she's a poor progressive but by the standards of Thedas?

She was talking in her head.....how was that grandstanding.  Anyway helping the elves was what allowed Gaspard to get noble support against her.

 

He flat out states that he used Celene and making the university teach equality between humans and elves against her to gather support among the nobles.

 

Sorry I think this just reveals more about Briala then it does about Celene.

One of the two candidates has actually done things to help elves, the other has been very vocal on his stance of human superiority over elves and his honor that ya'll all depend on for keeping his word--his own words and actions have shown that his honor only fits into combat and he is not constrained by it in politics.  He bent the knee to Celene after all and pledged his loyalty to her...then had no problem attempting to kill her or starting a civil war, do you think he will be more compelled by a simple promise to an elf whom he considers to be beneath him anyway? As for Briala, it just shows to me she is more about revenge against Celene then what is best for her people.  Understandable motivation, but she isn't a saint and I have long felt she plays the game far more then Celene or Gaspard- black mailing Michel, wanting Celene to kill Gaspard during the truce, etc etc etc

Until I see a strategy guide or something full out confirming there is no way to reunite Briala and Celene, I will withold my certainty from one twitch playthrough. Maybe you can't, but with all of the talk of plots and politics and how they have developed Celene and Briala's plan to play them off each other, I find it hard to believe that Bioware would make Gaspard the only option for elves, when Celene has a history of being very pro elf- heck it is the main reason there is a civil war to begin with.

AH, thats what I thought. Celene might be a good choice after all. This thread is extremely biased against Celene so I'm wry to trust anything people say in here. As I said, I'll reserve my own opinion for what I see in game and in the epilogue. There had better be an epilogue.

 

As for no option for Briala and Celene to get back together, thats not shocking. Its a sad ending to their romance but there sure doesn't seem like any good solution. They're better off separate at this point.
