Okay something bugged me with the codex entries. It's not that it's really important but in DAII:

"Celene is the daughter of the late Emperor Florian's youngest sister, and others in the family held stronger claims when Florian died." Source

And in DA:I:

Spoiler

Her father is actually Florian's brother.

Nice little retcon writers :P

And I thought Gaspard was a bit younger but I guess it makes sense if he fought during the Ferelden rebellion.

So in short, I am back to planning on bring back together Celene and Briala as I've wanted to do. Now theres only the small matter of there not being enough time to play this game. Darn you work, darn you.

Once again, people are so consumed by the admittedly unappealing nature of Celene vis-a-vis Briala and wanting to punish Celene that they forget what's best for Thedas and the majority of the people of Orlais.  You need:

-A united Orlais (which excludes Briala), else you leave Southern Thedas at the mercy of Tevinter and the Qunari

-A non-belligerent Orlais (which necessitates Gaspard not being in power), else you'll have Ferelden under the Orlesian thumb once again

There's only one choice for the long-term stability of Thedas as a whole, you just have to suck it up and accept the truth that hundreds of thousands are more important than the one, the same way the bastard Bhelen is better than the honourable Harrowmont.

Hmmm... nah I think I'm just gonna kill Celene because I don't like her. Why should I give a damn about the undefined, unseen, unheard from small folk? Every Orlesian I've met has been obnoxious and dreadful.

It's a good thing you've got that disclaimer in your sig that you're just joking or I might have thought that you seriously wished to encourage an abused victim to go back into the arms of the one who murdered her parents and lied about it for 20 years.

OK, I am trying to reunite Briala and Celene!!! I had Gaspard taken away but there was no option to reunite the two.

I need to find more secrets for Leliana, I think...but I can't find them. I'm afraid I missed the one in the GARDEN at the start of the mission, which means I would have to re-do this entire mission!

Is there any way I can find the secrets so I can talk to Briala about the ring and then reunite them ..without having to redo this entire mission? Because I've already restarted the mission too many times.

So, if you pick Celene as sole ruler...

Pretty sure you have to find Briala's locket in Celene's room. I had the option to reunite but didn't take it. It felt sick.

I also find it really annoying that Bioware FORCES you to get the approval of the court or you fail the mission. My qunari warrior had absolutely no time for Orlesian BS and talked as much trash on the Game and its players as possible without getting a "Mission Failed" screen. So much for freedom of choice. Truly a pathetic gimmick to get you to try and behave yourself at the Ball... even if Celene gets assassinated because the Inquisitor is thrown out, how does that mean Corypheus suddenly takes over all of Orlais? And if Corypheus takes over Orlais, so what? Better than being forced to play the Game.

Is Celene's room the one where you gather evidence about her and see some dude tied up to her bed? I looked there and I couldn't explore the area where the bed was because it kept taking me to the conversation discussion with the guy.

Can I still use the guy as evidence and later change my mind about blackmailing Celene?

The guy can be used as evidence but the locket is found in her Garden apartment in the safe room which requires lock picking or something special to open it.

Why garden apartment?

Please tell me it's not at the start of the mission....

I don't know why. But it's when you find that guy Gaspard's men murdered there and search the Gardens and first meet Briala. Somewhere in that area. You should be able to go in there any time.

So I  sided with Celene and had Gaspard executed, then I threw Briala under the bus, and Celene had Briala exiled. Cole and Solas were not happy. I think I'm going to keep this playthrough.

I don't know about others, but if Celene is still Empress, Anora asks if the Inquisition can set up a diplomatic/peace talk with Celene

lol Exiling Briala is merciful, at best. Putting her back with Celene is just awful, and teaming her up with Gaspard wouldn't last long.

What happens in the epilogue?

And actually I'm reloading and putting Celene and Briala back together so that I can have the eluvians. I talked to Morrigan and she said she wanted the eluvians... so our dialogue might be different once I reload.

well I don't think the Eluvians are mentioned or brought up by Celene or Briala

and as stands, Celene will kickout the Inqusition and do her own thing, she has no gratitude towards you

Why?? Because I forced her to exile Briala?

If you talk to Morrigan in the Garden, she says that she needs an eluvian. Briala already has access to the eluvians, so I was thinking if I teamed up with her, there would be a different dialogue, such as "Now we have Briala's eluvians."

I hope this eluvian thing gets explained more. Briala is supposed to have access to them, and there was an entire friggin' book written about it.

Briala's eluvians are never brought up in-game. In fact, it seems they are completely forgotten.

Wrong. There are several endings where Celene will continue to be grateful and support the Inquisition depending on your court approval

That is so stupid and makes no sense... Why can't we get access to the eluvians if Briala was the one who had them!???!

So I reloaded and put back Briala  and Celene together...it makes no difference. Morrigan is still searching for an eluvian -- which makes no sense since Briala has her elven spy network teleporting across Thedas.

Morrigan has one, and my Inquisitor uses it.

There are several endings. Here are the ones I know:

Celene rules, Gaspard dead, Briala exiled: Celene continues to be hunted by elven spies and fights a shadow war against Briala.

Celene rules, Gaspard exiled, Briala exiled: Celene fears Gaspard's plot to return and relies on the Inquisition for protection

Celene dead, Gaspard rules, Briala doesn't have blackmail: Gaspard invades Ferelden or prepares for a war with Tevinter

Celene dead, Gaspard blackmailed: Briala blackmails Gaspard into giving elves more rights and tearing down alienage walls. The Inquisition isn't well-liked by the nobles for this

All three work together: Orlais is greatly weakened as Celene has to defend herself from plots by Gaspard and Briala which forces Celene to rely on the Inquisition

Celene and Briala reconciled: Orlais enters a new golden age as elves are given more rights and culture flourishes

Apparently Celene and Briala reconciling is the best ending while having the three work together is the worst. Guess the devs don't have the same line of thinking as some people on this forum.

I actually thought Briala's eluvians in TME were going to be a big deal in DAI. Oh well.
