Wrong. There are several endings where Celene will continue to be grateful and support the Inquisition depending on your court approval

it depends on the fate of Gaspard and Briala actually.  if Gaspard is dead and Briala exiled, she turns cold.  If Gaspard is exiled she continues to rely on the Inquisition

 So I ... I'm not sure what I did.

I wanted Celene over Gaspard, and to also give Briala a bit of authority herself. Obviously I stopped the assassination. Then I implicated Gaspard. Next I vouched for Briala, thinking I was supporting her, but Sera disapproved and Solas said that I threw her under the bus. Indeed, the epilogue indicated she was exiled, although the alternative option which I did not take -- to say nothing at all -- did not seem like it would have worked out better for her. Or would it have? I dunno; this quest really had my head spinning.

As to the decision itself ... while I respected Gaspard and am typically a fan of old war dogs such as himself, I typically do not like the fit of those types the political arena and generally want to keep them in the 'field. Celene's stance is more to my liking, and as it relates to Inquisition interests, I valued Celene's wealth and political popularity higher than Gaspard's military support. But Celene's appreciation for the Inquisition was short-lived, so, more the fool I, I guess? At least she did come through when I needed her, though (if nothing else).

Did you find Briala's locket and show it to Celene and Briala? You need to do that to show that they still care for each other and thus willing to reconcile.

Figures. No, I am pretty sure I missed that in my haste. The whole negative court-approval mechanic for staying away really got in my head.

Wrong. Also, apparently you can have Celene execute Gaspard AND Briala

Why would you want to force Briala back into an abusive relationship anyway? I don't even like her, and I still thinks she deserves better.

You'll have to fill me in on that one. I was not aware of any abuse. Either I missed it, or it's something in the books (which, well...)

It's not forcing her into anything.

Celene manipulates and lies to Briala constantly, had her take the fall for a noble's death, killed her parents, and tried to force her into a love nest

Hint hint, you know absolutely nothing about psychology. I'm by no means an expert, but even I know that once you manipulate someone emotionally for 20 years, you can't expect them to suddenly let that kind of thing go and act rationally.

However, what she deserves/not is not my priority.

Yet some people seek to reconcile Celene & Briala as if it was their own business or the Inquisition's priority.

It is. Celene and Briala working together is, in my opinion, the best solution for Orlais.

Morrigan has one, and my Inquisitor uses it.

Thats not 1 of Briala's eluvians though.

I actually thought Briala's eluvians in TME were going to be a big deal in DAI. Oh well.

They should have been a big deal, another lost opportunity.

As for getting Celene and Briala back together does it really need to be rehashed again?

Mm. You're right, you mean in your opinion only. Last I checked the Inquisition is there to foil Corypheus's plan, and to protect the current ruler or see other political figure ascend to the throne stop Orlais from falling apart, and their quest is to save Thedas and find someone who's responsible behind this chaos...the Inquisition's quest is NOT the quest for love, to reunite Celene and Briala and have them reconcile while the evil warmonger Gaspard executed...excuse me while I begin to projectile vomiting at some people romantic fantasy.

I hate fighting beasts. There's absolutely no satisfaction in it.

Actually, it's because I believe that Orlais needs both of them. Their love is more a side benefit, but it doesn't cost me anything to pursue it.

I thought there are Colosseum or some sort of arena in Tevinter. So it's not only a southerner who enjoys fighting the beasts or enjoy seeing other people fighting them.

However, what she deserves/not is not my priority.

lolololol It's a little more complicated than that. Lady Mantillon pitted all the nobles against each other for the throne. Gaspard was going to have the throne until Celene pulled a fast one at the suggestion of Mantillon. Celene had her servants assassinated to gain sympathy from the court. So, the court backed her to have the throne, and she took it at 16. You could say Celene and Gaspard were victims of child abuse because of Lady Mantillon's sick plotting amongst the nobles.  At worst, Mantillon would have had Celene killed and all her house servants too. It was Gaspard's wife through Mantillon, IIRC, who killed Celene's parents.

So when Briala walked upon her parents' dead bodies, Celene told Briala to go to the Dales so that she doesn't get killed. And that's when their romance started because Briala came back for Celene (though Celene did say she wanted Briala to come back for her). And Celene kept it hidden that she killed her parents, though when Briala found out and confronted her about it, Celene said it didn't matter if she killed her parents or not because they would have been murdered either way.

As for the noble's death, some noble murdered some poor elf in Halamshiral, so the elves were going to riot. It was Briala's IDEA to kill the noble, thinking the elves would stay calm once the noble died. Celene said it was fine, so Briala murdered the noble. But during that time, Gaspard spread a rumor that Celene was sleeping with an elf, and it got all the nobles angry and pissed, so she ordered her army to attack the elven rebellion. She had Briala quickly swooped away before news spread that she killed the noble, but Gaspard's forces had predicted that Celene would crush the rebellion, so they ambushed Celene and her forces.

It's not quite clear why Celene was going to imprison Briala, but Celene suggested that she was doing it to protect her because the humans would have killed her had they found out she killed the noble. Celene thought it was best to "imprison" her to make it look like Celene was suppressing the rebellion without having to kill Briala. She said she would have released her secretly or at least get treated kindly by the guards. FYI, none of that came to be because a bunch of other drama happened.

But anyways, the Celene/Briala relationship is not very good, and it's kinda weird the game rewards you for uniting them back together.

Thats not 1 of Briala's eluvians though.

They should have been a big deal, another lost opportunity.

llolol.

And ugh...I don't understand. They wrote an entire book about it, and we get NOTHING about Briala's eluvians. Would have been nice to see her and Morrigan working together.
