I think it's hilarious they characterized Gaspard as a total doofus in the game. He seemed less doofus-y in the books.
Empress Celene... vile traitor OR savior of Orlais?

Yeah I wasn't thrilled with his utter lack of political tact, he wasn't that bad in the book.
But he does get his contrast to Celene across fairly clearly

not a Southerner I take it
I'm a proud Yankee who's just been displaced to the South for the past few years.
Or is that not what you meant?
But anyways, the Celene/Briala relationship is not very good, and it's kinda weird the game rewards you for uniting them back together.
It's horribly egotistical, but I hope a little bit that it had something to do with me.

Oh, he was an idiot in the books. He just did a better job of concealing it.

OK, did anyone find this piece of evidence??

Who was this supposed to implicate? Celene? The note is rather scandalous, and we all know she's writing to Morrigan.
It was probably to implicate Gaspard for using shady tactics. Also glad the game revealed Gaspard has 0 honor even though all his defendants on this forum claimed he did.

Celene and Briala reconciled: Orlais enters a new golden age as elves are given more rights and culture flourishes
Apparently Celene and Briala reconciling is the best ending while having the three work together is the worst. Guess the devs don't have the same line of thinking as some people on this forum.
Absolutely absurd! ![]()
What genius decided Briala just gets over her family's murder and Celene's years of lies?

Nobody comes off looking particularly intelligent at the Ball.

I thought the possibility of Briala and Celene reconciling sends a pretty terrible message about a rather abusive relationship, given what Celene did.

Idk, he seems to be doing rather well in my playthrough at the moment. Even sent me a portion of the graduating class of chevaliers.

Unless you verbally b*tch smack Florienne, then the Inquisitor comes out pretty well
Out of all 4 (Briala, Celene, Gaspard, and Florianne) I actually thought Florianne was the best of the bunch. Celene's voice got on my nerves, Gaspard was alright, and I wanted Briala dead for having sacrificed her own agents, particularly ones that knew of her prior relationship with Celene. She can go rot for all I care. The city elves are better off without her.

They're too busy trying to look nice in front of each other, as Leliana says in Origins. They can't act openly because it's impolite.
So it's a cutthroat environment where everyone smiles venom-laced smiles and everyone flirts, plots, and care more for the appearance than actually getting things done.
My Qunari mage absolutely hated it since aside from being sarcastic frequently, he was also upfront and brutally honest.

This is Orlais. Calienne de Ghislain, Vivienne's lover's relative, was the one who murdered Celene's parents, but the de Ghislains are staunch allies of Celene.
If you let a little murder get to you personally, you're going to have a very bad time. As in, you'll probably be murdered.

Which is exactly what I thought first time (about Briala). Then I found out about things getting better for the elves if they reunited and I was like... wut. So Bioware did make good on their promise. Sometimes the most unsavoury decision is the one that gives the best (in the moral sense) results later.

I'm conflicted.
Celene/Briala is abusive. But the presentation in the game is the more standard "lovers driven apart by ideology." And it's probably the best thing for Orlais. But they're borderline sociopaths. Gaspard is thuggish and not all that clever, but is probably the sanest one. But being able to arrest Florienne is so satisfying.
My head...

I never said it'd be immediate.
EDIT: Unless Inquisition has epilogue slides or something of the sort. Haven't finished the game yet. I'm just going off of what I know of the man. He seems like a warmonger rather then a capable ruler.
Still, he has his uses. Which is why I want to have all three work together, if I can only figure out how to do that.

It is. Celene and Briala working together is, in my opinion, the best solution for Orlais.
Since when is "the best solution for Orlais" the Inquisition's priority? I'm pretty sure it's about stopping Corypheus, not the long-term good of an archaic, fundamentally broken nation led by idiots.

However, Briala obviously DID let that "little murder" get to her personally, as evidenced by her dumping Celene's crooked butt in the book. She never got murdered. It's an inconsistency in character based on explicit events that have happened in the DA canon, doesn't matter that if it's in Orlais or Ferelden.

After his showing in the game, I have a suspicion that this was a plot devised by one his more politically-savvy comrades. Probably Remache.
