Unless you verbally b*tch smack Florienne, then the Inquisitor comes out pretty well

Oh god I love doing that so much.

Especially the "remember to smile" line.

Lovely.

Especially ending that with a stab. I only wish I could've gone "Someone be a dear and clean this mess up would you?"

How do you pwn that arrogant, bad haircut slattern? All I got to do was kill her in combat and judge her remains.  :(

So what was Briala's secret? That she sacrificed her own elves? I was confused on that part.... Can someone fill me in?

You need to have 85 or more court approval and choose the option to confront her when you return to the ballroom

I never said it'd be immediate.

EDIT: Unless Inquisition has epilogue slides or something of the sort. Haven't finished the game yet. I'm just going off of what I know of the man. He seems like a warmonger rather then a capable ruler.

Still, he has his uses. Which is why I want to have all three work together, if I can only figure out how to do that.

He gives the Empire an outward focus as a unifier, a smart goal. This is either an invasion of Ferelden which is an ideal time with Nevarra going to **** full of Venatori remanents, and the revenue from the coastlands citys (Which rival the free marches for trade these days) Would quickly refill the coffers and the war would far more than pay for itself.
Otherwise through war table operations he can make peace with Ferelden and focus on the northern borders of Orlais, fortifying them against Tevinter.

Celene seems to be better at outplaying him at the game, but he clearly has more common sense and intelligence, So when he makes his plays by drawing his opponents out of the game he is far more effective at destroying them, which he came very close to doing with Celene once already.

But yeah, while I admire Celenes policies of focus on the university, pushing for racial equality (Though unclear whether this was only done because of Briala) and focus on cultural development and Gaspard persues none of these things, the key is that while both contenders are easily manipulated, Gaspard is more easily manipulated by The Inquisitor or Briala (If she has blackmail on him), Celene is easily manipulated by the whims of the court and frets to much about their opinions to commit to courses of action, She has a fear of conflict which tbh isn't a welcome trait, and is known to be indecisive and easily changeable. And while I may not like that Gaspard has no interest in the University, persuing cultural development and equality. His persuit of millitary focus is actually more urgent right now, The civil war may have ended but the Empire has severely weakened from it and its wounds still fresh, It is still quite unstable and on the verge of more instability. Gaspard is the better one for handling this imo

Tbh I think that all 3: Celene, Gaspard and Briala are idiots, but Gaspard is the lesser idiot among them

The only thing that really worries me about Gaspard is that the guy is almost 70 years old, he will likely die within a decade and then another sucession crisis will arise. We havn't heard anything about him having any kids, and his sister is now dead so who does that leave for the throne?

If your court approval is high and you have most of the evidence against Gaspard/Briala I guess. Mine is usually 90+ so I just pwn her in public. It's beautiful.

I was initially gonna have Briala with Gaspard, but when I heard how Bri was screwing over her agents, particularly the ones who knew about her and Celene, I let Gaspard kill her. That said, I did feel kinda bad watching Florianne kill Celene.

But then Gaspard gifted me with a bunch of the graduating class of chevaliers, and then I felt all better!

Too bad I let his head roll in my game. The only good Gaspard is a dead Gaspard for me. Filthy war-mongering a-hole.

Ummmm, not so much war-mongering, cause he signed a peace treaty with Alistair thanks to Lady Josephine.

He still plans to fight Tevinter which is even worse for Orlais considering how other fights with Tevinter have gone. Considering the best Orlais ending requires Celene to live, guess we know who Bioware prefers. Remember how Bioware said that the optimal outcome sometimes requires making choices you don't approve?

Besides, my character had no idea a peace treaty was an option so the only thing my character saw was a war monger who wanted to return Orlais to expansionism which my character didn't like. Tell me, would you still support Gaspard if the peace treaty wasn't an option.

he fortifies the border, it doesn't say he invades

Furthermore Tevinter wouldn't be able to fight the Qunari and Orlais

lol@best ending

I find it funny how the mission is clearly intended for people who read the book considering you'd have little reason to side with Gaspard since the game doesn't show any of his honorable traits but does show his expansionist goals. Tell me, if you never read the book, would you really have a reason to not save Celene?

Yeah, Gaspard offers an alliance the second you meet him, is completely upfront about his dislike of the Game and his opinions.  everything with Celene is shrouded in political horsesh*t

for my dalish: yes celene burned down an alianage of elves. My dalish quizzy is strongly pro-elven, not sure which option I am going to go with celene/briala or briala as puppet master over gaspard.  but this will make her pause.

Celene also offers me one, Gaspard outright says he plans on becoming an expansionist and advisors outright say that Celene is opposed because she is seen as not being aggressive enough. Seems to me like the game supports Celene and doesn't go into her negative points to much

Yeah...except for when the games shows that she burns alienages.....

Yup. You need to get one piece of damning evidence for each of the 3.
