Except Gaspard's better at the Game then they are, so that won't work, And Celene isn't ruthless and that's not why we hate here, even if that were true.

Funny thing I agree with all you said about the consequences but I disagree about it not being a solution.

I think the elves at this point would be fools to wait for human rulers to give them rights, that did not work with Andraste and it is not gonna to work now either. I would say that maybe there was a change for a more peaceful solution before the slaughter that Celene and Gaspard did. Now I just hope it does not come to other exalted march like in the past against the elves, like you said but humans are not their future if they want to survive as a race.

im a elven support for many reasons but briala plan just hurts the cause even if they succed. There numbers would on the endangered species list

Please do not think i am some Xenophobe who believes the Elves should be in the slums, because i do not. i just don't believe force is needed to cause change in every instance. and i believe this war is just the spawned from more hate, but its obvious in a sense there are Abolitionist in Thedas who see Elves not that differently. Both sides will just become hate groups attacking each other and cause more distrust which will never lead to a unified Thedas (which the writer may never want)

Even the dwarves might take sides and i doubt it will be with the Elves.

I just cant in anyway see how a Exodus like this will help them. and even being given the Dales was a mistake instead they should have united together and i believe Andraste would have done that if she was alive after the war had ended. Integration is the key to cohesion.

Orlais love the Game. Gaspard doesn't seem to. This will clash and it's just waiting on that one elite who will send assassins or who will convince the others with their silver tongue. He'll need to work a lot to keep the entire elite happy.

People hate Celene for it but being ruthless is necessary if you want to win and I don't feel Gaspard has that.

Gaspard has the strength of character and the military support/credentials to actually break the elite if they get out of line.

Celene will play the elite's game and bend to their whims to keep the throne. Gaspard will just flip over the game board and crush whoever stands in his way to get the throne. He's his own man, where as Celene will always be beholden.

But was he playing the game? the game is normally played without armies or blades. but through sheer will and secrecy. what he did was set up a military trap he was guessing she would take. in fact we learn at the end of the book she beat him at the game when they were attempting to take the throne. And doesn't he even state in camp he hates the grand game?

Does that really matter to my point? There's no contesting that Gaspard is an absolute master of the game. He won't fall for the tricks any more than Celene will.

The Chantry has a close connection with Orlais and have for a long time. Lore seems to indicate it was natural for them to aid each other. Also Emperor Drakon tried to abolish the Game but only made it worse. It seems too entrenched a system to be easily done away with.

No it's simple have the Inquisition's forces move the peasants and Elves out of Orlais then...

Torch the place.

He can't keep his nobles in line, his people wont follow his orders and now he has a limp. all he has now is his military prowess and Honor, and that doesn't mean anything to the nobles of Orlais. Celene didn't have to threaten or bargain to take Halamirshal she just had to show she was alive and he bowed.

Gaspard is a good General, a smart tactician, and a good man. that does not in anyway makes him a good Emperor. and an empire is just people, people who let you rule because they believe yous should rule, if they believe you shouldn't rule they will try to not let you rule, and the nobles would do the exact same thing. and once he died. Orlais would be in its worst state. He has a presence and power and that might make the nobles fear him but once he is dead they will eat what ever heir or Stewart sits the throne.

100% supported by more than opinion statements. He obviously has supporters, and people obviously back him.

I like Celene, but I honestly think Gaspard would be a better ruler.

He had at least four barons (three former chevaliers/ current chevaliers) in his smoking lounge.

All of which backed him for the throne, including that poor man from Lydes...

If Gaspard stand alone without the nobles, there is a great possibility to overthrow him more easily from outside. There are pros and con in having strong nobles houses. That is why a war with Ferelden is a great solution to keep the nobles in line.

I read it, he had some noble support. He killed him on the spot if you remember right. That kind of thing will not bode well in the noble houses.

Because the man violated the terms of a truce; the majority of his noble support it appears has military connections.

They will get it.

After all, They learned the same things he did at the academy.

He gave him two commands to stop.

He won't be much of an Emperor if he cannot enforce commands.

Not to mention the Baron of Lydes was breaking a truce he agreed to.

I doubt it, you are assuming most the heads of the noble houses are Chevaliers and like you said he lives of military connections. Outside of that, he is alone really without the Game.
