Intersting. I'll put that in the console commands section of my site.

Edit:

OK, so the final procedure I've found is now:

mpbots true will make you disappear and have a bot.

spectate a few times until the camera is back where you issued the first bot (not in "spectate" mode). Create a new bot or some, repeat the same process a few times.

Be in spectate mode, and do mpbots false. It will delete the bot you are spectating and have you appear again, but you cannot use powers.

spectate again to get out of spectate mode and into original mode.

respawn to respawn yourself and have full access to your powers. You will still get the bots damage overlay but it seems fairly normal. This also will make you able to take damage (and show your health bar properly), so you are back to normal. They *will* not revive you so if you die you will lose the match.

If you change teams they will attack you. And oh boy are they OP. It'd make an interesting match - normal team has kinda dumb allies but they can't die, the enemy has a human that can harass the players (making them easier to kill) but the bots can defend them.

Could you please elaborate? How to change teams?

"Fourteen score and seven years ago our ancestors brought forth on this planet a new intelligence, conceived synthetically, and dedicated to the proposition that all quarians are created superior.

Now we are engaged in a great galactic war, testing whether that intelligence, or any organic civilization so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure against the Reapers. We are met on a great firebase of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of Firebase Hydra, as a final resting place for those quarians who here gave their soup that Rannoch might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this ground. The brave quarians, living and ruptured, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The Council worlds will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but they can never forget what they did here. It is for us the unpunctured, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of their Arc Grenades—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have ruptured in vain—that this galaxy, under Keelah, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the quarians, by the quarians, for the quarians, shall not perish from the geth consensus."

You can change teams with the changeteam command. You'll instantly die and players cant revive you.

Haha yeah, that was tcgtqu. He ninja joined in, but it was so crowded, it took me a while to realize he was even there. Mostly he was running around killing stuff, but in that gif he looks a bit stunned by the spectacle. Nothing but gorgeous flamer as far as the eye can see. Some of the mpbot flames were glitching out and spazzing up and down. It was like a Vorcha rave. This is definitely my favorite too.

I replied to some thread months ago about how fun I thought it would be if the multiplayer in the next Mass Effect included a feature to have your team be occupied by AI teammates in place of actual players, either for the entire duration of the game, or until an actual player joins and replaces an AI teammate in progress, host's choice.  In addition to that, I proposed that the host player have some way to manage the AI teammates' powers and weapon load-outs, and perhaps even their appearance.

I was subsequently mocked by several people about how stupid an idea that was and how no one would ever want such a feature, not even as an option.

I guess we now see that it wasn't so bad an idea.

I can't see why someone would have mocked you for describing what Infinity Ward did with Squad mode in CoD Ghosts. That's been out for a year.

Edit: Well, unless it was crashsuit, because...crashsuit.

Hey I'm just kidding, though hopefully it was obvious. Mpbots do seem to trivialize the game a bit in general though, and soloing in particular, but I think they're one of the best things ever. Who doesn't like twenty screaming flaming Vorcha?

Well, if you can control how many there are they need not trivialise the game. They can balance it. Many other MP games have used bots constructively, I would like to see this built in to ME4.

Yoo, I can't seem to create more than one bot. Could you give a more detailed description of how you can create a vast army of bots - and - be active at the same time?

EDIT: I found it!

Only, when I host...it seems I always fall through the map whenever I try to respawn.

I think the number of AI teammates you could employ would be limited to the same number as are usually allowed in a match, however many that turns out to be.  Though seeing a dozen bots is definitely fun, as evidenced in those videos.

If MP is four players again, then you could have three AI teammates, or if you're with another player, two, and so on.  You could also have the option to have none if you wanted to do a traditional solo.

There are a number of ways they could handle the host's management of AI teammates, I just hope it's ultimately an option.

On a somewhat related note, I hope MP in the next Mass Effect is six players.  There are six classes (assuming none get added in the next game) so six players would give a nice symmetry.  Themed matches where there's one of each class represented would be fun.
