It doesn't make sense for your non-Humans. Even if you're anti-Chantry, We still don't know who teaches us the ability (what if it is a Former circle Mage now anti-Chantry), and you can still decide to use your enemy's ability to your own advantage against them.I hate the fact that KE is tied to the Chantry becuase now I cannot play play Dalish Elf mage with it cause it wouldn't make sense for her, considering that she is pro-elf and anti chantry for what they have done to her people.
Why did they have to tie this spec to the Chantry religion? Now it really only makes sense for humans to play as KE.

You don't need to support the Chantry to get it. It's something the Chantry thought of creating for specific purposes.
But guess what.
WHERE ARE YOUR CIRCLES NOW??
You know the rest ![]()

Did it somehow only make sense for an elf to be an AW? It's Circle knowledge, and these are abused victims of the Chantry who've been victimized a lot more and a lot more recently than the elves.
It's a bizarre form of racism at play to not use KE as Dalish.

Well we will see how plays out. I just assume that we will have to do some quest in which we perform some great deed to the Maker/Chantry in order to gain the right of becoming a KE. For my Elf, it would kill the RP if I had to do that just to get the KE specialization.

There's apparently one quest, after which you pick so you'd be doing the same thing no matter what.

The class isn't what I was hoping for
, it just looked too much like a normal mage who "occasionally" fights with a melee hit.
I was hoping for something that looked well more melee oriented, with multiple melee oriented skills and attacks and a "energy" blade that was permanent or at least stayed out for a bit, rather then just appearing when you strike and then disappearing.
Basically was hoping for more of a "Jedi" type of melee mage.

BioWare keeps making this spec harder and harder to want to play, aren't they?

Yeah, it's basically a normal mage with a slow sweeping melee attack...? ![]()

What you want sounds kind of OP, honestly.

Why? They'd fill a role similar to a warrior but more focus on using magic attacks/abilities instead of what the warriors use.
IF it's op or not would totally be dependent on the numbers and balance, it wouldn't be inherently op just to have a melee focused mage with melee focused magic abilities.

If every attack costs 10 mana, a combo might be nice... this just looks way too slow to get excited about. Also, an active "Power Slash" attack wouldn't have been OP... it would just have been a melee version of any damage dealing spell, no?

Which is why Arcane Warrior was so OP.

That sounds like a Templar. Honestly what I would want is a few combos and a bit faster, but not an actual warrior-mage. I'll still pick the spec for RP reasons, but it's still disappointing.

Um... you wave your hand in front of you from right to left and a short beam of energy damages enemies in that arc... kind of.

So SB is a single (slow) melee attack, no cooldown, 10 mana cost? What about damage?
Did They show other abilities?
I thought I saw 300% weapon damage

Um... it deals Spirit damage I think... and the other active (there are only 2) was ... it looked like an active dodge that phases you out to avoid damage... which I have to admit sounds interesting.
