Um... you wave your hand in front of you from right to left and a short beam of energy damages enemies in that arc... kind of.

thanks.

so, you "cast" the sword, instead of "holding" it in your hand?  it's more of an arcing "wave blast?"

what color was it?

Yeah, it just appears when you slash with it.

It was a golden colour.

Which is why Arcane Warrior was so OP.

That sounds like a Templar. Honestly what I would want is a few combos and a bit faster, but not an actual warrior-mage. I'll still pick the spec for RP reasons, but it's still disappointing.

What? ARcane warrior wasn't op because they were a melee-mage, they were op because they could have super high resists and armor witih their spells and the enemies usually lacked elemental defense, that had nothing to do with them being op because they were "melee mages" but op because they simply weren't balanced number wise with their resist and enemies lacked any decent defense against them.

You can easily have a melee mage with skills and "balance" it not to be op.

The class isn't what I was hoping for :(, it just looked too much like a normal mage who "occasionally" fights with a melee hit.

I was hoping for something that looked well more melee oriented, with multiple melee oriented skills and attacks and a "energy" blade that was permanent or at least stayed out for a bit, rather then just appearing when you strike and then disappearing.

Basically was  hoping for more of a "Jedi" type of melee mage.

Yep, part-time melee, since the normal attack is still ranged.  I am disappoint.

Wow KE looks lame as hell, definitely wasnt what i was expecting it to be. It looks like the occasional melee mage or part time Knight but whatev. Shame, looks like Vivi will have to full the role for me, back to Warrior Reaver.

If i ever get around to a mage then its probably going to be a Necromancer.

The fact that it had all the benefits of both classes made it OP. All the buffs in it were irrelevant. Mages already had a ton of buffs and adding heavy armor onto it with a **** ton of spirit damage, unblockable, made them gods. This spec also does spirit damage, and I don't imagine it doing anything else.

Not without just making it another Templar. What would be the point?

Not what i wanted, that's for sure. Would have loved a toggle, no mana cost, but can't attack at range. No added bonuses besides that. Would have been a dream come true, but now it's pretty much set in stone that i'm going Templar. Shame, really, cause it sounded like it could have been pretty fun, but.. just not for me.

I'll probably have another character go mage, but he/she will probably be a necromancer. Heck, i would have been fine with it being a toggle and limiting our mana reserve instead of costing mana every time i attack with it.

Um... it deals Spirit damage I think... and the other active (there are only 2) was ... it looked like an active dodge that phases you out to avoid damage... which I have to admit sounds interesting.

I thought I saw 300% weapon damage

Thanks to both.
Not what I was expecting, but the dodge ability seems nice. So There aren't others other Resurgence, right?
Too bad They didn't show the passives.

It appears the KE can remain in the rear command position, and may gear up as they wish. Thanks for this Bioware! :)

I think it looked alright, though I'm now thinking about Rift Mage instead. The only abilities I saw were the blade, the fade(invulnerability/intangibility for 2 seconds), and the healing focus power(full health, rez everyone, 10 second glyph that heals every second you stand in it).

There are actually 4 actives! those 2, the focus skill and one that was under the last passive, it was shown in a fraction of a second! Now, for me KE is finally interesting!

Wait, They can use heavy armour without crafting?

So knight enchanter gains group heal as well as a Melee Spirit attack as a toggle. It does something like 200% weapon damage (the weapon being your Staff). The energy sword has a very large AoE. However, a Mage seems very fragile, especially with mage armor on. So you might want to stick near the tank and leave flanking enemies to a Rogue.

I'll have to watch the twitch replay.  but from what it sounds like, KE is NOT the melee focused mage build I'm looking for.  :(

guess I'll just stick to Templar.

I think I'm probably going to go Templar, since the main thing for me is the normal attack.  With the KE I'm going to have to run up to things to whack them, unlike my AW who can cast at a distance but then runs into melee range herself.

Problem is, how the heck can I justify a Dalish becoming a Templar?  :(

Spirit blade can reflect enemy ranged attacks. this means dragons just got a whole lot more doable.

Yeah, that was my problem too... I think I may go back to my 2 Handed Dalish Champion...  Sword and Shield looks kind of fun though...

Wait, They can use heavy armour without crafting?

Crafting may be involved, but this is fine with me as I want control over both the AC and appearance. For instance, I disliked that one of the better robes in DA2 was a duplicate of those worn by Sister Petrice; wanted the effects, but had no reason to wear her Chantry fashions.
