I thought I saw 300% weapon damage
Wait what does 300% damage in the Knight Enchanter tree?
Do you mean the Spirit Sword does 300% damage?

Its pretty much like the omni melee attack from ME3
how far away from the Inquisitor does the "blade arc" extend to? is there some range to it?
or do you have to be up close to do damage?
I think I'm probably going to go Templar, since the main thing for me is the normal attack. With the KE I'm going to have to run up to things to whack them, unlike my AW who can cast at a distance but then runs into melee range herself.
Problem is, how the heck can I justify a Dalish becoming a Templar?
Who says you're becoming a Templar? Cass has Templar skills but shes not a Templar. Its the same as picking Assassin as a Rogue but not actually being a cold blooded murderer. The specializations are just abilities you know, they don't define how you choose to use them.
Surely, a Dalish warrior whos committed to fighting demons spawning from the fade rifts can see the value of Templar skills.
What's the cooldown on the spirit blade?
honestly this spec seems to me just a support mage/healer spec not a jedi/AW spec some people were loooking for. Still good because they have the best heal in the game and also invisability/invulnerability but the way it looks and feels might disappoint people
What's the cooldown on the spirit blade?
I don't think it has a cooldown. Its a Toggle. You toggle it on or off. Its also the first ability you gain access to.

None!

Yeah, Spirit Sword does 300% weapon damage. The damage is based off your staff's stats.

Toggle? I thought it was just a single swipe per button press?
Toggle? I thought it was just a single swipe per button press?
Is that it? Ah, ok. Not sure about that. I'd prefer if it was a swipe per button press because auto attacks are boring. Its why I disliked AW in DA: O.

up close but wide arc honestly looks more defensive than offesnive to me. with the deflecting projectiles property and such. also seems KE spec is just as squishy as other mages.
Thanks Elhanan.
I still think I'll use the spec. and I guess the passives might increase defence.
It will be a good idea to increase your Barrier effectiveness and craft heavier armor for your Mage to use so that you can tank better than a Mage normally can. After all, being in Melee means you will get hit more often even if your not the party tank.
That said, whats interesting is that Spirit Blade doesn't remove your staff. So you can seamlessly switch between long range staff attacks and Spirit Sword Swipes.

Yeah, I didn't see any passive or ability that increases your defense. Hence why Barrier was being used and was heavily upgraded. However, the fact that spirit blade can deflect back at enemy fireballs and dragon breath attacks is awesome and has so many potential uses.
I made my Dalish Warden a Templar. I didn't have any trouble justifying it. It doesn't make you a part of the templar order. It just means Alistair taught you their talents. I picked it because it was my attempt at giving my non mage elf character something that would be helped by his magic stat bonus. (gameplay wise I don't know if that worked, but I don't regret the decision storywise. Why would Inquisition be different?
Looking at the twich video (on mute, as I avoid spoilers), it the spirit blade gives you a bonus to both guard and barrier - so it seems to be very effective at stripping away enemy defences. Spirit blade is a sustain (it has 10 mana per attack while active) and it can be pretty devastating as a finish since it's a detonator. To me it seems like a cool ability.
The one I think is far more worthless on PC is Fade Cloak (temporary invulnerability). It has a 2s window which means getting the timing right will be incredibly aggravating.
Another question about that Barrier spell because I'm not sure what I saw and I'd still like to be a KE for RP reasons. ![]()
So it seems like the Barrier spell and a lot of the other mage spells are GTAoE? Gawd, I hate that mess, because I want to play in real time and don't want to fiddle with targeting.
I'm wondering if I could lead the party with my KE, run in, use Cone of Cold (if that's even still in the game), cast a Barrier on myself, (or that Fade ability) and then start whacking things with Spirit Blade. I might be able to be arsed to put in that much effort.
Toggle? I thought it was just a single swipe per button press?
I don't think so - at least not according to the spell description. It says "costs 10 mana per attack while active" so to me it looks like a sustain.

Yeeeeeah boy. The pain train is coming.

Templar armour was an amazing choice in DA:O because the KC armour gave a huge bonus to spell resistance. My CE wore that for the whole series. 10-15 armour by DA:A were worth far less than his 80% spell resistance.

Ah, so I was right. It is a toggle. Also, Fade Cloak will be one of those moves for avoiding one hit kill attacks such as from giants throwing boulders at you.

Apparently when you're a Knight Enchanter you're a walking bomb.
I'm okay with this.
