I can just imagine the look on that smug Ice Dragon's face when it realizes that Immunity to disabling effects and taunt won't help block Firestorm x2, Fire Mine x4, Immolate x4, Fire Wall x4... rofl...

Don't forget to have the two Knight Enchanters in your party phasing into the dragon and exploding it every now and then. It's important. Kitty Pryde Pride.

Well, I won't... this is Eluvianus Rex's plan and he's going to be a Rift Mage.  I will just get by with whatever powers my team has.  Unless an ability is bugged and I need to get rid of it, I won't be respecing at all during the game.  Definitely not before a dragon fight.  I want to see if I can defeat them with the same party that I used to reach that point.  But to each their own...

And yes, phasing is one of my favorite KE powers, although I am more inclined to compare it to the Vision's (Avengers comics) power than Kitty Pryde.  It's pretty much the same thing, but he's a vastly superior hero than Shadowcat.

I'm not sure if I'll take the Phasing skill, especially if I already have Fade Step as my "get out of dodge" skill.

curious to see what the last Active spell on the bottom of the tree is.  I hope it's an offensive AOE spell where you conjure up an army of spirit blades and rain them down on your enemies.

I intend to use Fade Step as a gap closer, not just an escape technique. It can carry your Knight-Enchanter very quickly towards its enemies when it's time they get the business end of a sword. The Phase is actually a much more reliable escape plan, since you can move through enemies and are immune to damage.

*sigh* I wish I could add Fade Step, but I have too many skills mapped already, and none of them are expendable... <_<  Fade Step would have been great though.  That spell holds so many possibilities...

You really ought to try and jam it in there, man. I believe we start with two spells, and Fade Step could be one. Or you could play a human and get that extra spell off the bat and put it in Fade Step.

Not a chance.

Seriously though, there's just no space for this, even if I did have extra points to spend.... Right now I've got Spirit Blade, Fade Cloak, Barrier, Energy Barrage, Immolate, Winter’s Grasp, Blizzard, Resurgence.  I can't really see myself getting rid of any of those... I'll just deal with being a lumbering brute of a mage I guess.

Since we only have 8 slots available, I'm not sure if Fade Cloak justifies a spot.  plus, I'm not sure it would "fit" my Inquisitor from a rp perspective.

Doesn't Fade Cloak have the upgrade that is basically extemely strong telefragging?

yeah.  but the whole idea of "phasing" through enemies and making them explode doesn't really "fit" the type of Inquisitor I want.

as much as possible, I want my Knight Enchanter to be a "sturdy" armored front line fighter.  phasing in an out just doesn't really fit that.

Different strokes for different folks I suppose, though I do think you're gimping yourself. Knight Enchanter seems more like a more tactical front line fighter then a magical tank in my opinion.

I think...we can agree that...Ancient Elven Magic trumps Chantry Circle Magic...For AW > KE.

First, We don't know without playing. Second, Arcane WArrior will appear in MP, and it'll be likely very different from DAO .

On the slots thing, I plan to change my setup slightly based on the fight. I'm going to abuse the ability to see my enemy's weaknesses a lot .

on that note, i really really hope the MP arcane warrior isn't just the KE abilities with greenish icons and different flavor text.

While I think There might be some differences, I think the playstype will be similar.

Arcane warrior has KE abilities.

What did you expect? :P

By the way, you were taking AW and going in to tank anything, without any other spec? Because as i remember, if you didn't have Spirit healer, you were going down like, bleh.

Also, you had take out your decocrative sword, that you could auto attack with for like, laughable dmg, and use a staff for casting.

The only think i liked from AW was that they were able to wear massive armor. But we can wear plate as well, even if we have to craft it.

Well, I didn't have any problems with Battlemage as my second spec.  Combine the two and AW is both nigh invulnerable and capable of harming all surrounding enemies continuously.  Laughable ease :)

Indeed, but even the basic Mage back then had access to healing.

In other words, Arcane Warrior was a thing of Origins. If it was made into Inquisition with a more advanced inovative and new gameplay style, it would be something like the Knight Enchanter.

Basically they are the same thing, just different lore, and different mechanics. Both however can go melee to fight, and both can weay heavy armor and have abilities that help them tank.

They do however play very differently.

Also Battlemage was added afterwards. The strongest combination was AW-SH-BM. (BM=battlemage)

I am pretty sure we're gonna see people soloing this on nightmare with a lot of classes/specs.
