I rather like this idea, myself.
Whether or not it holds up, we'll know next month.

If I was writing this, I think I wouldn't clarify if the mage Trevelyan was the 1st kid or the oldest or whatever, because they have no role in the family anyway so leaving it to headcanon would be fine

I agree that they're probably the same person. The magi isn't a child of House Trevelyan as a circle mage.

This is what I'm planning, mostly because I want an older Mage character, the description seems to imply the youngest Trevalyan should be in their early 20s if they haven't joined the Templars or Chantry yet.

yes but i cant say i agree lol XDI'm sorely hoping that an expansion takes us to the Free Marches, so that Inquisitor Trevelyan can take the throne of Ostwick and join Viscountess Hawke of Kirkwall and Prince Vael of Starkhaven on their Exalted March to purge their nation of apostates.

I just meant you won't have extra power from your family name
Yeah, it's more than likely that being incredibly pro-Chantry, the rest of the Trevelyan family might actually end up being some of those people mentioned in the twitch stream demo as denouncing our Inquisitor as a heretic, due to the masses believing we're "The Herald of Andraste".

I wonder if there is an personal quest around this. Like an human mage turning on their family at some point of the story. I can see them treating you with disdain considering you are an mage. I'm sure such an pro Chantry family like that would see an mage child as an punishment from the Maker, or something of that extent.

Oh I like it, poor Mage Trevalyan, denounced twice by their family.

Considering they sent you to prison as a kid for religious reasons I'd wager claiming a blasphemous title wouldn't help their opinion

I would like to know too if we have a sibling-mage\rogue presented on the very same summit from "the other side" of the conflict. In DAO all Origines sort of happened (with a tragic outcome except for one we are playing). Could be the same here - you will survive but your sibling will not. You know, Carver\Betany thing.

I like to think human mage and human rogue/warrior are siblings. You pick the survivor.

But aren't they all the same person? The youngest of the Trevalyans?

I plan to make my female human mage embrace the title as fully as possible -- even to the point of believing she is Andraste reincarnate -- so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

I'm pretty sure they are the same person. Hawke, either born an mage or non mage doesn't stop him/her from being the same individual.

its possible but im just over-analyzing. It could be a hawke situation for all races but hey little known detailsI'm pretty sure they are the same person. Hawke, either born an mage or non mage doesn't stop him/her from being the same individual.

In this case it wouldn't mean much. The human mage will be estranged from his family anyway. The siblings could never know each other since the warrior/rogue human is the youngest and the human mage could have been sent away before warrior/rogue was born.
I also like to think there was a dwarf, qunari, dalish at the big event as well. ![]()

I hope we can see and interact with them the game.Like a close sibling/cousin or a uncle/aunt who cared about you even if you're a mage and your parents send you away.

Bioware's developed a bit of a talent for absolutely terrible introductions, so I wouldn't be surprised.
But...but...I must argue this point!
Two Rivers wasn't so ba- oh wait.
The intro sequence on the Endar Spire wa- oh.
Eden Prime wasn't s- crap.
ME2's was cinemati- wait, it got boring after the 100th time that I had to restart because I made an error in the character creator.
The Origin stories were amazing in DA- oh wait, but Ostagar is a bore.
You win.

They could be, but I think if they were locking us into the "youngest" slot regardless, they'd have included that in the human mage description. If they give us that wiggle room, I'd prefer to be an older child.
Regardless of whether a mage has lost their claim to nobility, a sympathetic family could still choose to support him or her and put some of their influence behind a mage inquisitor. Personally I doubt it, given the connections the Trevelyans have with the Chantry and Templars, but there could also be exceptions/mavericks in the family. I'm still waiting to see whether they require a human warrior or rogue to actually be under vows to the Chantry or Templars before I decide if I'll run one (I've had the impression they're leaving us some flexibility on that, but it's still not clear).
