I'm sure we all remember the Darkspawn Chronicles DLC for Origins.  While I personally loved it, it received a lot of criticism because it lacked depth.  Unintelligent grunting hurlocks can only convey so much personality, after all.

That being said, I would love to see a similar DLC, but this time with added depth to story, return centering around the Red Templars.  I envision they would have quite the awesome skill tree based on some of their abilities and red lyrium transformations I've seen in the gameplay, but even more so, the acquisition of red lyrium to be used as the resource to fuel your abilities could add an interesting gameplay mechanic.  Last but not least, I would love to see a taste of the story from their perspective.

Thoughts?

I could get behind this. Perhaps depending on race and class, we'd have some backstory for how we ended up corrupted by Red Lyrium;

An Human Warrior/Rogue became a Red Templar, while a Mage was experimenting with Red Lyrium for the Circle before it disbanded.

An Elven Warrior/Rogue/Mage discovered a deposit near their clan.

A Dwarf was attempting to smuggle it to the Red Templars and fell under it's thrall.

A Qunari mercenary discovered a shipment of the stuff on the job and took it for themselves, unaware of the risk.

Those are some great suggestions for backgrounds.

Considering that my canon Inquisitor is already a militant, bigoted Templar? I'd love to see this.

Well, Darkspawn Chronicles was partly disliked for that reason. On the other hand, it was a horrible, buggy mess as well.

This could work, but perhaps expand it a bit. Make it character DLC, basically a combination of Darkspawn Chronicles and Leliana's Song.

You see the backstory of the character, and they eventually join the Inquisition in some way.

On the other hand, by the time we finish DAI, we may all be sick of the Red Lyrium and Templars.
