In regards to your first point....that's pretty much what I was trying to say. We don't want armor specifically for women only. We just want armor that happens to adhere to a feminine aesthetic. So, you basically reiterated the same point I was trying to make, and I actually like the armor you provided as example(as well as your posts in this thread overall.) I think it looks quite nice and serves as an excellent example of real world armor with some nice flair. ;)

ok I understand better now  :)  I was confused by the use of the word feminine, which to me would be exclusively for women, rather than generally having more embellishments on armour for both men & women.

I suppose I just don't consider such embellishments particularly  feminine, just cool & nice to look at.

As for that last statement, I repeat, this isn't about armor "fitting the female form." It's about it having a certain appearance. After all, women typically bind their breasts before putting on armor, so there really shouldn't be breast cups in the breast plate. That's the last thing we want. Other than breasts, women aren't physically different enough from men for the overall physical shape of the armor to need to be changed much. In fact, any difference in actual physical shape would be quite trivial to the point of only having relevance for whoever is making the armor.

Actaully it's not just breasts but hips as well, I mention it because some games do a terrible job at depicting how amour should fit a woman's hips and make her look boxy.

It's even a big issue in modern day armies, uniforms are made for men but often mens trousers won't fit a woman because of their cut, so female soldiers have get larger sizes and use extra belts to get their combats to fit properly.

This is what I mean by fitting the female form. :)

Feminine can still be interpreted in many different ways. Words like flamboyant, pretty, expensive, fancy, etc. would be more on point. If you're sick of misconception use more specific terminology.

What has been explained as male armor in this thread ("dark, sharp, ragged") is not really masculine, I would call it Gothic. Was King Cailan's armor any of these 3?

What has been explained as feminine armor (soft edges, bright colors, ribbon, lace, fur, frilly, and cloth) can't really be labeled as the feminine aesthetic, extravagant would be a better word for example.

And then you wouldn't need like 5 paragraphs to pinpoint what you want, with much or most of it asserting what you feel the word feminine should be perceived like by the masses. It would just make this request seem much more straight-forward instead of a social argument.

The girls armor is sooo cute. I would love to have something like that and i think hoods, cowls ,cloaks and capes would have solved some of the issues but they cant animate it.

Wow, that's ridiculous. You seriously mean to tell me they don't design the uniforms to fit women properly? That's unacceptable and has to change. I mean, they know women are in the army. What the literal f***?! Yeah, definitely needs to fit properly.

Thought what was said was more reference to the armor like "hugging" the body, being more form fitting, skin tight. Well, seems we're on the same page. ;)

Didn't mean to create confusion with use of the word "feminine" either. I'm honestly dumbfounded by the amount of confusion it generates. Tried to explain previously what was meant by "feminine", but guess it still wasn't clear. It's because modern society has taken certain styles and labeled them as either masculine or feminine. Society has also deemed "feminine" things as exclusively for women, yes. We want these types of styles, just with the gender identity removed. Would have used another term for it because I really don't like using "masculine" and "feminine" as descriptors for anything. To do so implies that a certain something inherently carries qualities of a gender. In order to make that assumption, you have to attach gender identity to various abstractions other than your base physical gender that you are. This limits freedom of expression and gives rise to harmful stereotypes. I honestly wouldn't know what else to call it, though. Do any other terms even exist?

If anyone knows, then I'm all ears because, as it currently stands, it's very difficult to make this request without sounding contradictory and hypocritical.

Flamboyant, streamlined, extravagant, expensive, fancy...I dunno if those terms really equate to exactly what I am attempting to explain exactly. While you find it more accurate, as you stated, people have varying concepts of femininity. I should also point out that I wasn't trying to tell anyone how to perceive the word "feminine." I was actually trying to use more specific terminology, just as you told me to do, to clear up the confusion caused by the original poster's use of the word "feminine." Maybe the words I used weren't entirely accurate either, but that was the best I could do. I think delicate and pretty are fairly accurate, however. Perhaps moreso pretty than delicate since it is armor we're talking about. You have a point about the whole social argument thing. That wasn't my intent. I was trying to help.

I guess you must have disliked the templar armor then. With the long skirt and all.

I actually hate Templar armor. I think it looks awful. Don't know how they could wear it in real life. But that's just me. My response was probably more annoyed than anything to the guy who had quoted me before.

When people say they want feminine armor, do they mean armor designs with distinctly feminine features or just armor that looks pretty?

I ask because with the latter you can have armor designs that other than the fact that it's being worn by a woman, would be identical to that worn by a man.

Here is an example of what I mean:

90a72s.jpg

If something similar were in a DA game, presumably the male design would be practically identical. But yet that female character, wearing a getup that isn't distinctly feminine, could still be described as beautiful.

Both I think.

Soft and beautiful instead of hard and cool. If you can say it like that.

And also armor that looks like it was designed for a beautiful woman first.

And I love that armor, it looks gorgeous.

That's rather presumptuous. It also might make any males that want to wear the armor feel excluded. There's plenty of male armor that looks like that. I don't see armor designed for a woman, I see wonderfully crafted gauntlets, greaves, and surcoat. Han is driving at a very good point.

I would also like to see circlets implemented and perhaps a glamour system.

I just don't want to feel like the females came second for once...

And I mean, I'm not demanding that all armors to be designed for women first, but are a few too much to ask for? Like, maybe 3 or 4? Or one for every armor built for males first...

Here are some armors designed with a female in mind, they would probably look great on a male too. But they were drawn on a female body.

They already come in knowing they'd have to suit both genders. It would take a very biased designer to make each outfit and appropriate them later and it'd be a pretty lazy and thoughtless. Just because you don't like how a certain piece of armor looks, don't assume it was designed for men and appropriated for females. Don't make such quick assumptions about how the designer approached gear I'm pretty sure they had a good balance on which gender they approached gear on.

There are like 140 more armor types. I highly doubt their best designs are in the low level content

In the words of Elissario "soft and beautiful instead of hard and cool." We're not asking for extravagance. That's completely different.

How would you see out of that helmet? Also, the chest...Not practical, but it does look nice.
