I agree, Alistair's romance was really nice as well as Isabella's in the second one.
I would love a romantic one (male or female inquisitor, I don't care)

I very much enjoyed Alistairs romance, I thought it was very sweet especially the part where he gives you a flower and then he gets all flustered, but in order to do it, you have to play a female, and I am no female. "Always" yeah ok, I'll give you that, not everyone does and that's dependant on how they play the game, but a lot of people do so I chose to sum it up into "always". If this bothered you then I am sorry.
no, it didn't bother me, it is just a ... clarification, I guess - many players I know prefer not to play self-inserts. My own husband loves playing as female, for example. Almost never plays males. I myself play females and males as about 2 : 1 ratio and when I play females they don't always follow my personal preferences. I know a lot of other players like that. But I know a lot of players who prefer self-inserts, too - as I said, to each their own.)
Alistair's romance was great. But I also looove Aribeth romance in NWN and Viconia's in BG 2 , btw. Always play males for these two.
I am a man (ignore the profile pic...or don't and you can see what I find attractive). I find confident, authoritative women attractive, and both Josephine and Cassandra are perfectly fine by me. I don't know Josephine's background (though I might want her to tell me over a coffee), but Cassandra's is pretty epic. That kind of awesomeness is worth a look. I am just hoping that we don't have any weeping, child like romance options like a certain elf from DA2. I am going to be the Inquisitor and want a tough gal to be at my side in battle (and possibly in the bedroom if it goes there) in this game. Shy, passive waifs can just stay in the keep.
That being said I can't judge what you should want. If you don't like what you get then remember there are other rpgs with pretty faces in them.

I think what some people should keep in mind is how incredibly insulting it is to call Cass "ugly."I am a man (ignore the profile pic...or don't and you can see what I find attractive). Its an opinion
Unless you are going to tell people that they can't have an opinion, stop saying they can't call characters ugly

There's a difference between having an opinion and getting up in arms (and demanding change) over an ordinary looking woman. No one is doing that in regard to the male characters. Why do straight men feel entitled to beat this dead horse until they get something *better* than an ordinary looking female?
Why do you feel the need to generalize?
OP does not not speak for straight men everywhere, even if every straight man on this forum agreed with him they don't speak for straight men everywhere
But I'll indulge you, Dorian looks ridiculous, Cole looks like a gorram zombie (for obvious reasons admittedly), and Cullen still has some work to be done on his appearance

The word you're looking for is sexism. I thought privilege, but it's sexism. The very narrow standards of beauty in our society - Cassandra doesn't have long enough hair, or a large enough bust, to qualify as attractive according to the narrow checklist she's obligated to satisfy.
Sexism is lumping an entire group of people together as if it were monolithic, because some person from that group happened to post an opinion deemed offensive on the internet.

Sexism refers to the cultural assumptions that underlie the beliefs that there are certain narrow standards of beauty that women have to satisfy to be "attractive", especially when you have what are obviously model qualify companions.
The folks who complain about Cass almost always introduce themselves as straight men. OP isn't the first. So I repeat: why do straight men feel entitled to beat this dead horse?
If you notice, I didn't say "all" straight men, or straight men "everywhere". I'm spitting back out the vernacular with which the complainers have used to self identify. They're a group - a demographic - of straight men.
Would you be okay with those same men posing questions that began with..
"Why do women feel entitled..."
or
"Why do lesbians feel entitled..."
Respect is a two way street.

You said "Why do straight men..." you did not include any way to narrow down who you were talking about, you included all straight men in that group.
Why do we feel "entitled" to voice our opinion? On an internet forum? Surely you jest
It hasn't been just one person. It hasn't been just one complaint. This has been going on since they revealed Cass. It has been an endless, ongoing gripe. There's no way that anyone on these forums, who has been lurking for a considerable amount of time, can deny that. Don't try to delegitimize the ongoing intolerance by isolating it to this single, recent thread. Trust me, OP is following a long line of footsteps.
>intolerance
>I don't like how this virtual character looks
yes right next to the ANP and KKK

People complain about Cassandra because she looks nothing at all like she used to. She looks way more butch than she used to, and people are going to complain about it since theres no reason for her to look different. Its not a sexism thing. People complained about DA2 Zevran too..

And Unlike others..the lesbian dont get much...either in Bioware games or in others games.........and we still dont come with any entitlement or with <Why do I get X when I wanted Y<

Preorder cancelled.

Congrats, you don't mind the appearance of the companions, others do
Ypur lack of a problem with the companions doesn't mean people who do should shut up
Guest_Amanda Palmer_*
If a barrage of women frequented forums, social networks, and every other internet avenue, loudly criticizing the average (not ugly) characteristics of a specific companion and expected it to change because those characteristics don't mean the idealized standard of beauty that they've been spoonfed since........the beginning of time........ then YES I would be TOTALLY ok with those questions.
You are not an authority on what people must find attractive, average, or ugly
