Anyone who has seen the CC videos has seen the intro for them, you start the game and after picking your sex, race, and class and starting weapon for those classes that have more than one, then there you are right before the CC part in the fade.. Is this really going to be the beginning? I was kind of hoping that was just for developers and a staging front for first looks, but not how the game actually starts. I kind of imagined in my mind that we would create our inquisitor and actually be with our respective origin peers and then be told we were on our way or needed to go to the summit. I wanted to kind of interact with the people who were supposed to be there, even if i knew they were all going to die within the next 20 minutes.
Is the beginning really the beginning?

Yeah, me too. I hope we actually get an intro before we are thrown into the Fade and the explosion happens. Maybe what happens is that the game starts after the explosion, but you are captured and interrogated, and there is a flashback sequence as you tell everyone what you know. That would explain the game starting in the Fade already. Hopefully.

One can hope. I was looking forward to possibly seeing the summit in action, something similar to the Landsmeet in DA:O. Maybe you wouldn't have any or many dialogue choices, but you could watch some of the summit unfold and then BOOM. It begins. However, from what has been shown with the CC videos, I think it's right after the explosion.

Or maybe the Summit will be shown as flashback or something..........

Bioware has had terrible intros in ME3 and DA2. Don't expect a calm, reasonable start to the game. Bioware is adamant about "throwing you into the action".

Or, you know, is the ending really the end?
Heavy philosophical stuff, dude.

"Stop them? This isn't about tactics!......We need to band together!"
"That's it?"
"WE FIGHT OUR WE DIE!"
"Are you sure we can't get someone else?"
Hella good intro, what are you smoking?

It looks like the beginning to me. The start menu, the new game summit explosion scene, the load screen that depicts the blast, character customization starts in the Fade - this all indicates a genuine opening to me. I could be wrong, of course, but I do think its the actual start of the game.

Sadly from the look of things we will start out with the Inquisitor in the middle of a fade like area while seeing the Bright Person. Then the Inquisitor will go and touch the Bright Person's hand and then he will fall and wake up in the middle of the explosion area. After that go through some tutorial things and meet Cassandra and then the story begins.
If lucky during the Tutorial part we may get to experience flash backs where we get to choose dialogue and affect what happened before the explosion.
After that the 1st part of the game will be about how the Inquisition is formed and our base of operations will be a rundown old large Cabin. After the Inquisition is formed then we will be able to create our Inquisition Stronghold and upgrade, design, and strategies in it.

(*Monotone*) Yes. That was a great introduction. I now see the error of my ways. ![]()

I'm thinking we start there, but this being the Fade, we're thrown into semi-real flashbacks. This would be the perfect way to introduce backstory, as well as a tutorial.

@In Exile, What? You're one of those people who still thinks the trial scene would have been better than "WE FIGHT OR WE DIE!!!!1!!" /sarc
I can't imagine how you would think that. After all, we would missed all the great melodrama ... and stuff. It almost would have been like a sensible opening or something.

I think Shepard scrubbing the side of the Normandy with a comically long mop and getting told by carrier pidgeon that the Earth is being invaded would be better than what we got.

I'm picturing the Red Dwarf opening here, so a carrier pigeon in a tiny space suit, flying through deep space.

Hey, hey. ME3 had a great intro. Two games worth of it in fact. ![]()
(Though I imagine anyone who didn't play ME1 or ME2 were probably confused out of their mind.)
But yeah, I am definitely on Team Interrogation-Flashback

Considering the disappointing "trial" of ME3 and the beginning of DA2, Bioware embraced the idea to get the player into the action as fast as possible.

I liked an idea that got put forth a while back, that Cassandra will interrogate you and you'll flash back to the peace conference then. Would make sense, given that the Inquisitor is probably dazed and confused for the first bit of the game without any real recollection of what happened before.

Didn't they say early on that our origins will not be playable? Even only a tiny snippet. I'm guessing that's the true beginning.

Pretty much, yeah. I liked how it was done there. Especially the little feature they put in where how much you see depends on how much detail you go into. Was handy for replays.

At this point I don't care how the beginning is as long as I can begin! Come on Nov 18th, this month is going by so slow!
As much as I understand they want to get DAI right this time which is why the pused the october 7th release to November 18th release due to a bunch of bugs they yet to fix back then.
I kind of wish they had fix those bugs and issues sooner so they could have kept the October 7th release.
