So with the revealing that new Unique Dialogue options, Inventory Space, and extra things can be unlocked by learning certain perks what type of Perks will you aim for 1st?

The Perk System is the character building system for DA Inquisition. They provide unique dialogues and other bonuses.

For example, Arcane Knowledge perk provides Unique Dialogues that allow the Inquisitor to represent his or her understanding, Knowledge, and explain things to NPCs about Magic and Demons. Without this perk the Inquisitor will not have knowledge about Magic and Demons and will be given dialogues that often ask NPCs to explain Magic and Demon topics to him or her instead

Antivan Tailoring and Imperial Court Tailoring, as another example, will both increase Inventory space by 15 per perk which makes a additional 30 Inventory space.

Optimal Cutting Provides 10% chance to obtain a extra Herb when gathering.

I think dialogue options > everything else, though I think I'll pick RP-specific options (e.g. no arcane/fade perk for non-mages).

Dialogue and lore for me. Anything that expands the story really would be my priority.

That's actually a really cool feature. I like it.

I imagine I'll invest in the dialogue ones that'd make sense for the character I'm playing to have.

As I usually try to get the "Persuade" option maxed as soon as possible, or at least have high Charisma in order to unlock dialogue options, I'll probably go for the dialogue/knowledge options.

My first Inquisitor will be a human mage and I plan on him being knowledgeable on the Chantry, magic, and history, anyway.

Dialogue according to imagined hobbies. I'll actually try to RP perks as much as possible first playthrough according to what my Inquisitor values. Clothes horse? They get the tailoring perks (and extra inventory space).

Nug Herding as a perk, semi-confirmed rumour!

I'd have to see the list of perks and consider the character that I'm playing to decide.  It would depend on what I'm wanting to get out of it and the kinds of choices I'm wanting to make.

it will also depend on how important my potions become this time around.  If they end up my primary means of survival and I have to give consideration to their drop rate I may take certain perks.   If armour is important to me and I'm not liking the drops I may take perks that make crafting them easier or improve the bonuses I get out of it or something.

Once I can see the list and decide what I'm taking into DA:I first then I will know better.

Definitely the extra dialogue options and xp for codexes.

Do we know if picking certain things locks out others?

Not per say, but there is a limit to how many perks we can take. Choose wisely...

Myself I will go for dialogue options and rare weapons.

I suspect extra-dialogue will be the priority for most people, including myself.

I'll also go with RP for dialogue , I'm playing a Dalish first ...he's not a mage so no deep magic knowledge.

He's also clueless about the Chantry , he's just good at Dalish history.

Not sure if there's a perk for that.

Next I'm playing a scholar mage , so I will probably take all the dialogue perks.

The fact that there are two separate perks for clothing options 'Antivan tailoring' and 'Imperial Court tailoring' just makes me giggle for some reason. That seems so silly next to 'exclusive training' and 'tempered glass flasks'.

Within limits. I can see my dwarf taking the history perk because knowledge makes her more than a carta thug, but I don't see a passion for the arcane. And we haven't seen Connections perks at all.

I wonder if the gather extra resources perk has ever been useful in any rpg. I've seen it before but the games I play they usually provide more then enough without it.

It might be one of those 'useful at the start, useless at the end' kind of perks. Unless they balance it out with some extra rare plants, or the plants can only be harvested once. I think it likely that plants can only get harvested once, like in Origins. We'll have to buy the rest.

It's been several times already but dialogue and lore. I always max things that help others see things my way first. An ability would really have to contribute to combat or item creation for me to even consider taking it instead and I just don't see bioware making an ability so useful that it would tempt me away from the dialogue choice. If they did I can see people complaining that the choice isn't really a choice.

Who would skip the 15% additional chance to crit? That isn't a real choice.

Well someone who believes the combat is already too easy wouldn't be tempted away. What's 15% more crit to someone that already makes their enemies soil themselves with an angry glance?

It depends on priorities in the end.

DAI allows players to make the Best Armor and Weapons in the Game through Crafting so gathering may be useful for them but the Optimal Cutting is for Herbs which will be used to craft potions and Grenades.

A Rogue class may find this more useful since Tempest Specialization focus on Rogues being alchemist with their Bee grenades and stuff.

Definitely going for extra dialogue perks appropriate to my character (mage = arcane knowledge, ect.).  For the perks regarding rare weapons or armor, I might go with armor first time around.
