It must be said. The companions in this look hideous.

Save for Dorian and Cullen, the companions have some major uncanny valley going on. What's up with the artwork in the Dragon Age series? DA2 made Alistair ugly, and now DAI made Cassandra ugly. Just look at the Witcher 3 character models. I'm not saying that every companion needs to be a supermodel, but they should at least look human. They should also probably look better than the character models from the first Dragon Age game.

It has been said, again and again and again in infinium. Also, don't compare to the Witcher 3, that's made only for next gen. This is cross gen, a completely different kettle of fish. If you don't like them, put a helmet on them

And I must say this:

BioWare really doesn't give a crap if you, or me think the companions are ugly.  Frankly, most of us don't give a crap if you or anyone finds the companions ugly.  Don't like it, vote with your wallet and don't buy it.  Otherwise, you're wasting your time and looking childish on top of it.   They aren't going to change companion appearances just because you or anyone else doesn't like it.

You know what I did with the last game I tried out where I didn't like the art style?  I uninstalled it, lamented over it for about 5 minutes, and then decided I wasn't going to buy anymore games from them.  Simple.  I didn't harass their current fans.  I didn't harass their devs and insist that they had to change their entire art direction just because I didn't like it.  I left them alone, because I can and do respect the work they did.  Even if it wasn't for me.

Try having some class and do the same here.

The companions look varied and human with human quirks and flaws this time rather than a collection of samey porcelain dolls like in DA2. A huge improvement in my opinion.

If you want perfect looking people make a video game on your own using barbie dolls, I on the other hand prefer companions who look like you know they could be real people who have flaws but that's just me

I smell a troll topic....a repetitive one at that

It's a sign of our lazy society when even trolls can't be original anymore. Pfft. Kids.

Seriously though, no body finds everybody attractive, or even the same set of people attractive. The companions are all attractive to somebody, and that's all they need to be. Faces should tell stories, not pander to our loins.

I think that we can pander to ourselves when we are in the CC, designing our own protagonist. If we want someone drop dead gorgeous - awesome. If we want someone hideous - go for it. But to dictate the appearances of npc's and companions? I dunno...

There are a lot of games out there that do pander to "teh loinz" and I think that has caused a great deal of brainwashing. And when I say "brain", I mean genitalia. XD

I'm sorry, I thought this was the "Feedback & Suggestions" forum where people are supposed to express their thoughts about the game.  Am I wrong?

And yeah, I do plan on voting with my wallet. Don;t worry your pretty little head about that.

I don't know where you got that I want them all to be perfect-looking. My probem is they barely look human.

Except the companions in DA:O looked much better. This is a matter of design, not graphics

You're allowed to express your view but everyone here is free to stand up and voice their disdain for it. It's not a you talk we listen deal, its a you talk and then we talk as well. When there are over a dozen threads talking about the same issue that have already gotten people annoyed and in some case angry posting another thread on the SAME ISSUE is more than just poking a bee hive; go post in those threads and don't add to the clutter. If you've made up your mind about not wanting to get the game why do you come back to complain about the thing you seem to walked away from, just walk away.

Also, I did not say graphics affect appearances, I pointed out the pointlessness of comparing Witcher 3 to DA:I. Beside being fantasy games they are not in the category as each other. Its like comparing Star Wars to Aliens, two completely different things even though they are both sci-fi. Furthermore I don't believe that the DA:O characters looked two much better, everyone looked the same two me and honestly from certain angles Leliana reminded me of a fish and I'm still not a fan of Morrigan's look.

I'm sure the Witcher 3 is a very pretty game but if the previous examples are anything to go by it will be nowhere near as much fun, or as good as DAI. I know what I'd rather have

I do find it funny that in the game where the general artstyle was grim'n'derpy (DA2) the companions were generally pretty. In a game where the artstyle is prettier, the companions are uglier. Poor Cass.

1) Sera: Still hot and an outdated screenshot from the Alpha build.   The game hadn't even gone into in-house Beta yet.

2) Cass: That's early art, not even a screenshot.  You might want to check out some of the more current images and videos.

3) Cole:  Sorry for the spoiler, but he's a walking spirit that intentionally looks like a corpse by the art team.  He's supposed to look like crap and he's not a LI either.  I noticed that the rest of the screenshots you put up are LIs.  His armor texture, by the way, was just a temp placement.  They hadn't gotten in yet.

Before you start assuming, why don't you actually look around youtube and on the forums for some current screenshots?  You know, stuff from the last month or so?  Because that will actually give you more of an idea of what these characters will look like in game.  It goes Gold (meaning it's done in-house and just about ready for launch) in about 2 weeks according to twitter.

Here's a concept: Wait for the game to come out first.  Play it, with the final build and graphics, and then come back.  Otherwise, I really don't care about what DA looks like in comparison to TW.

You like TW?  Cool, then go enjoy and look forward to the sequel.  I couldn't get into the series, but the fans certainly enjoy it.  More power to them.  That's why it's nice to be a gamer.  Choices and variety are good things.

You want DA to be like TW?  You're just peeing into the wind.

That supposed hair, it looks like someone took a torn wet cloth and tossed on his head. He is probably bald under it, like so many DAI characters.

I was talking to the guy who got pissy at me expressing my opinion. Not to people criticizing my opinion. Anyway, I haven't decided I'm not getting this game. I'm going to buy it if I think the game will be good. As far as I'm concerned so far though, the character designs aren't a selling point to me.

Why is comparing two fantasy games made at the exact same time unfair? It doesn't matter that its a different series. Humans should look human, ya know.

I didn't know corpses gelled their hair into stylish emo 'do's.

No, I'm not buying the game unless I like what I see from demos and what I hear from reviews. I've been burned by Bioware too many times lately. Hopefully since SO MANY PEOPLE have expressed disdain toward the character designs, it might be a hint for Bioware to do something about it. That's why I'm giving feedback. Not because I already decided I don't want the game; but to say what would make me want the game more.

You know I'm getting kinda sick of the whiny teenager-esque statements on this forum. For goodness sake the graphics could be top notch but that doesnt mean a damn thing if the gameplay sucks. A polished turd is still just that. Games developers arent going to get everything 100%. Ever. Even if they ressurected Michealangelo himself! They are not trying to be The Witcher They are trying to be Dragon Age.

Stop putting so much need into how shiny it is and make sure they deliver on a good story and exploration system. Thats what's key here not how shiny the armour looks.

This is Bioware's own forum therefore, it should not require a rocket science degree to figure out that if you say anything and I mean 'anything' against Bioware here, you will meet a strong flaming squad.

As for giving feedback; well hate to break it to you, the ship has long set sail.

P.S. If it makes you feel better, the quote in my signature should explain what you have encountered here.
