Was planning on getting this for the PC version. Just curious if this game will have mod support?

A toolset is up in the air still, but I am sure there will be some mod support, despite this claim frostbite being hard to mod, I am sure some will crack it and do wonderous things.

If you did a bit of research, you could have found that out yourself. The Frostbite 3 engine is not very mod-friendly, as mentioned various times in the past.

Its been said plenty of times that it won't be moddable now, Bioware said there is a chance of course but if there will be mod system for DA:I it'll for sure be after lunch.

Most publishers hate mods from communities because mods have the potential to reduce DLC sales. So guess ea is probably extremely happy that DA:I is not modder friendly. I'll also add this, the reason why Bioware used Frostbite for DA:I is probably due to pressure from ea to make DA:I unfriendly to mods... conspiracy much... ![]()

BioWare needed a new engine for this game anyways. May as well use EA's in-house one.

Yep the devs said they were quite surprised with what modders were able to do with DA2 despite not being mod friendly.

Most EA games are not mod friendly. They want to charge for dlcs... =[

Not at release but they did say it's something to look into down the line,
So not for a long time if they do make a mod tool.

No. Frostbite 3 is virtually unmoddable. Some of the misplaced optimism on this thread is because Bioware recently changed their stance from 'No.' to 'Probably not.'

There are a lot of games that devs talked about and said they won't be moddable until some crafty coder came along and created tools for it. I wouldn't be surprised if that were to apply to DAI as well seeing as it is a very popular franchise.

Honestly I see no upside to locking out modders. It's not like they'll produce high quality story content that replaces Bioware's DLCs. So why not let the modding community improve the gameplay experience...for free! Any money they lose will be negligible compared to what they make back in extra sales due to increased popularity. Wasn't that the big deal with Skyrim? (it certainly wasn't it's story.)

Modding doesn't improve gameplay experience for consoles.

I wouldn't expect anything big, but stuff like increasing/removing the potion cap and making health regenerate fully will probably be modded in, along with other relatively "simple" mods.

The ultimate answer will be "what kind of mods are you expecting?" Almost every game made can have mods made. It just depends on to what degree. Obviously a developer tool would allow a larger variety of mods than not having a tool, but most 'modding' is simply done at the resource level in the files anyway.
If the game engine points to a model or a texture file, it doesn't "know" what that model/texture is supposed to look like. Model/texture replacers are almost guaranteed to be made for a game like this. New hairstyles, makeups, etc. are all going to fit into this category.
Now, you won't be able to design your own stories and such like that without a toolset, but any popular game is going to be modded. Pretty sure the only reason that Frostbite has a reputation for 'non-modding' is because it is typically used for MP only games where playing with mods is a ban-able offense.
