You'd think the fact that they have a reputation for giving rubbish hairstyles in their CC that for * once* they'd try to blow everyone away with their awesome hairstyles...

Or they could focus on what they are best at so as to not lessen those (story and companions)

Was it confirmed that the hairstyles we saw on the livestreams are the only ones we're going to get? Because I know some games that ended up having more hairstyles than the ones that were shown on previews even a few weeks before release. I want those braid hairstyles for my fem inquisitor so bad :(

It was confirmed that we had seen all the Fem-Qunari hair. IDK about the others.

Support mods and modders if you want more of these options and not companies selling u the game in pieces.

I'll support modder when modded hairstyles will be on cosoles too.

So if I have to pay to have better hairstyles, so be it. I'm fine payng, as long as I get good things.

sigh. Looking at the hairstyles, I only see (as usual) only two hairstyles I like. The pixie one and the "David Bowie" one. All the others are or indiffent to me (I don't like long hair, even less braided ones) or just ugly (buzzcuts everywhere, but not for the Qunari Ladyes where they would have been gorgeus)

I was hoping at least for the return of these two haircuts from DA2:

And those people are the issue with video games today and companies milking us to death. If its a free update I am fine with it, I will not support $2 hair dlc when I bought the deluxe edition of the game.

EDIT:

Also on pc I think its possible there will be mods for these kinds of things.

mod frostbite? Good luck.

Some of those 20 hairstyles are shared between genders.

I am not too concerned as I am bald in real life I can live with any hair option in a video game. I also remember a few of the hair options in Origins and 2 being particularly frustrating because they looked too clean when I was covered with blood or they stuck out of my armor in weird angles.

I am not devaluing the op's complaint by the way I am just saying that this is such a small thing I am not concerned. If you enjoyed the game with Final Fantasy hair you will enjoy the game with a crew cut. The hair will not factor in your final verdict.

I was so looking forward to using the female human and elf models shown here. :(

Nothing in the current CC even comes close:

Lol, What the hell! I'm REALLY disappointed of the lack of NORMAL SHORT hair. Like this:

short-messy-hairstyles-men.jpg

Second human Inquisitor's hair is the closest thing, but it's not what I'm looking for. And Dorian's hair. Meh. Having a haircut similar to my companion is weird.

As a normal gamer without knowledge about all this, I can only guess how difficult it is to make proper hair. It isn't even the most important thing, nothing that will lessen the fun or experience we will make in DA:I. It's only a wish, something people - fans - would enjoy to have. When I saw the concept arts, I wanted nothing more than to create a Qunari female with long, white hair ^_^ Or a dwarf with a thick, braided hairstyle. It's kind of disappointing to see that we will have (as usually) just short to middle long options, but hey, maybe they will change their minds. I at least hope they will. (sorry for unintended misspellings, still trying to learn english)

It won't ruin the experience?  I may never play a female Qunari (which was one of my first choices) as a result because the hairs available have no variety and are all the kind that prevent me from being able to get into the character.  I consider that a pretty big experience being ruined.  One race I looked forward to most I will not be able to enjoy as a result.  That's pretty big I think.

This, basically. I've really been looking forward to playing a female Qunari, but the hair... Technically there are a lot of options in the slider, but most of those are different horn options (which do look pretty cool) and the actual number of different hair styles is ultimately very limited. Why not separate the horn styles from the hairstyles? So I can choose exactly which I want to combine with which? And if you go hornless, couldn't you just use all the regular hairstyles? Though I'm glad there are at least cornrows like Sten had.

Eh. I don't really care too much, as long as there's a few I like for each gender(which it looks like there should be). Well that is for elves/dwarves/humans. Qunari on the other hand are fairly unacceptable in my book.

Yep we only have the fem-qunari hairstyles confirmed so far.

If you watch the livestream closely you'll actually see that in neither human or elf do they show all of the options as the slider is not moved all the way right so unless they've shown the remainder elsewhere I think there are some we actually haven't seen yet. Neither of those vids showed the dwarven hairstyles especially not the female options as they got distracted by beards instead.

For me the qunari hairstyles are disappointing but I'll find a way to play one anyway and I'm hoping they manage to polish/fix the textures before release or just after at least.

So as I was rewatching the Character Creation twitch demos once more, I noticed something. Each of the past games have had roughly 20 hairstyle choices per gender. However, in the demos we only have around 20 in general EDIT: with several bald/shaved styles in addition. Since now, each gender can wear the same exact hairstyles, it means we are only getting half the choices we were offered in past games. I don't recall who said it, but we were told we were getting even more options than before in terms of CC and hairstyles, but we really haven't seen that.

Why are we only getting a few styles to choose from when before we had so many more options? I'n not trying to complain, but merely asking the devs and fans a question and hopefully getting an answer. There are some styles in the CC I have seen and loved, but it just seems so limiting and I'm not sure they intentionally meant to give us only half as many as before. I do think they wanted to give us equality between the genders so we would have more freedom that way, such as men having longer hair.

Well the elf male has a lot of hairstyles that are not available to the human male and I have seen a few human female styles that aren't available for the male. So there probably are more hairstyles than in either of the previous games it's just that some of them are gender or race restricted. I actually think it's good that a lot of them are unisex though, especially some of those longer styles.  :P

Actually, there is a comparison: they were both made using the same engine. BF4 managed to give a female character LONG hair (pulled back in a ponytail) that didn't clip during cinematic cutscenes.

I'm watching the video you posted and that hairstyle is basically just ponytail attached to the hat. And it does clip like all heck -- check out at 2:30 when it cuts into character's shoulders with each head movement.

Regarding the screenshots of DAI characters in your first post, these were concept/base models for each of the races, done with 3rd party software and not produced with CC in the game. So as such no, they weren't really false advertising as when they were posted it was along the lines of "this is what we hope the elves/humans/dwarves will look like, when it comes to their facial features and such". Not "this is exactly what you'll get in the game".

Well, I would be lying if I said it wouldn't bother me. Like I said, I was dreaming about snow white hair. But seriously, the character editor has a lot of options. Make the most ouf of it, create a Qunari female as beautiful as you would like. If we are lucky there is some nice armor out there, and the females will look great even without long mane. And maybe they will add some more hairstyles when we keep asking after it  :)  Don't give your hopes up.

Oh I'll try, trust me, but with what I've seen, I really need some more options to succeed.

*laugh* Yes. It's really horrible, but there are possibilities. As long as there is no proper hair, we could try to change our perspective. A stunning, proud Vasoth female should be well within the given options. We just have to be creative ^^ But I'm sure no one here has a problem with that.

Because things for which people are content, they tend not to make a big deal about.
