Well, like I said, hair determines how your character will look in the end. Your character can look completely different because of the hair. And the fact that not even one of those hairstyles come close to what I had in mind just kills it for me. Even the long ones, they are sooo dull I would just kill for one decent braided hairstyle or anything that has some personality in it.
I know they did great with the facial stuff in the CC but it definitely feels like hair was put last. I mean look at it in regards to the absolutely gorgeous environments and really great armor we've seen. The lack of detail on the hair we have now clashes with the very detailed face textures we have as options to choose from. (Which I'm so glad we do, nothing was worse than looking like an NPC in Mass Effect because of your bland face.)
Hair is one of the easiest ways to identify a person, and thusly the easiest way to express yourself. I don't like to think this way, but I can only assume the reason for the lack of more complicated styles with braids or longer hair was to simply give time to other things. (I dont want to beat a dead horse but I totally think all the effort for Qunari went into their horns)
That's why I really feel like getting DLC or a patch with more styles can help devs focus on more varied options for us. It allows them as much time as they need to tweak them and get them to their standards. Adding them to the Mirror for changing your face is the most logical tack on for them and they are both well wanted by the fans.
But maybe this is just me, highly mourning the fact I can't use that side braid option... Or braids in general. Braids just scream Dalish to me and as of now, we don't really have any styles that seem more natural...
