I'm also really surprised that there isn't a single braided hairstyle since this was so common on previous games. I honestly don't understand how in interviews they say they have lots and lots of hair options when 70% of those options are super short manly hairstyles that are all very similar. Those of us who want more feminine hairstyles only have like a couple of options and even then they are so similar and bland and lacking personality. Where are the braids, the bangs and the cute chin length hair?

 

Yeah, for some it's just hair, but for others it's a big deal because we have an Inquisitor in your minds that we would like to recreate but can't because of the limited options and it's just sad because the CC looks amazing, but the lack of good hair is a buzzkill. Hair is pretty much the most noticeable thing on someone's appearance so it pains me how little attention it gets from Bioware. And I won't even talk about the Qunari hair because man, that is disappointing. Good thing I never planned to play as one.

 

I just wish someone would confirm once and for all if there will be more hairstyles at launch or not. And if not, I'm really hoping they will give us more if/when they release the black emporium dlc.

I think what bothers me the most is that out of all the hairstyles shown so far- the majority is very very short, or "traditionally masculine" in look- not to mention, most of which have the same flat texture!! Where are the braids, or locs, or curly/wavy hair options?? 

 

I understand if certain styles were too problematic~ but all those hair textures I listed above are capable of being fixed closer to the head to avoid clipping. For example- that dwarf inquisitor greyscale face model we all saw with the side braid... I "get" that that might be problematic in game.. HOWEVER why not have more than 1 braided up do? One more similar to Josephine's? Heck now that we're talking about it- why can't I just have Josephine's hair? They seemed to have changed it since the twitch stream. But both are goregous and if they've already been made why can't my inquisitor get in on that??

For me the "clipping" issue is just a bad excuse because even if it's indeed problematic to make long hair (like that long braid on the picture on the first post) there are tons of possibilities for short and chin length hair that wouldn't cause clipping AT ALL. Or even shoulder length since we have a couple of those already. In my opinion they just didn't think they should invest time with hairstyles so they made them as simple as they could. And the fact that they had so much time with this game and created such a detailed CC you would expect at least something a bit better for hairs than previous games. And no, I will not get over this.

All hairs are unlocked for both genders so basically what you see on this picture is what you're going to get (picture was posted here):

So if you don't want a shaved head, you get about 16 options for both men and women... With no braids at all... And no real details. Basically the simplest of simple. :'(

Edit: well the bun could be counted as a braid...but still.

I'm just happy they seem to have a few more options for my Black!Inquistor. Would have liked an option for Dreads or a high-top fade though.

The center-right elf in the third to bottom row seems to meet the criteria for mini fro. So yeah, I'll give Bioware some props at least in finally giving some variety in this regard.

Not gonna lie -- That's going to disappoint me immensely. The CC is essentially the thing I'm liking the most about this game and usually it's what I generally care about, when it's given as an option.

 

Here's hoping for mods for the PC version I guess.

The only thing holding out hope for me at the moment is this guy- bless 'im:

 

 

because it's a specific male only type of hair loss pattern ..... So hey maybe that means lady inquisitors get ONE BONUS hair to make up for this one... maybe it's the hair of all hairs too. *___* lmfaooo idk I'm grasping at straws here.

Um... they have confirmed the qunari hair only (sadly). They don't take the sliders all the way to the end (right end) in the videos posted at the start of this thread and these pictures come from them right? So unless there's an example somewhere where they definitely go all the way through all the options we haven't seen them all yet right?

BioWare also loves cosplayers so a well-designed helmet gives real people something to wear to identify as the Inquisitor.

And those people are the issue with video games today and companies milking us to death. If its a free update I am fine with it, I will not support $2 hair dlc when I bought the deluxe edition of the game.

I agree. If they have technical difficulties they can iron out later, it would be appropriate to offer the improvements in a patch. I wouldn't mind a "cosmetics package", however, as long as it isn't limited to things that should've been in the original game.

 

As for mods, I hear Frostbite-based games are notoriously difficult to mod. 

 

Anyway, if the hairstyles shown are the only ones this will be a significant disappointment.

BioWare also loves cosplayers so a well-designed helmet gives real people something to wear to identify as the Inquisitor.

Qunari can't even wear helments, and they got far fewer hairstyles than the other races.

I meant male humans. They showed us all the options for human males and that one wasn't available.

I don't think that comes with hair, during the CC there seems to be particles flying around and I think that screenshot just had bad timing.

One problem I have had in Bioware games have always been the hair in character creator and it seems like this time will be no different Looking at the screenshots, I feel like the face and the hair are from different planets. The face detail is so high but then there is the hair that looks just a mess.

...that looks like a new hairstyle! Maybe there's hope yet!

Edit: now I'm second guessing myself... Maybe it's the same slicked back style the human had (the white hair with the darker eyebrows?)

I keep envisioning that style pictured above ending in a really pretty French braid... *wistful sigh*

I believe we haven't seen the hairstyle the female elf has, or the human male for that matter. At first I thought they were the same but it's slightly different I think. And it's definitely not the same as the blonde elf! Which gives me hope we haven't seen all hairs after all. But still no braids

There should also be a hairstyle for female Hawke. We haven't seen that one in the mix yet, I believe.
