my bad- sorry. Though if the female human has it I feel like the male human probably will too- since the theme here seems to be unisex hair..? :/
Well it didn't look like it was available for males and I am pretty sure they did show them all in the stream. They could have just quickly skipped over it or something but it didn't look like they did.
My point was we have only seen the Human Male, Elf Male and Qunari Females full range of hair options. There are differences between the elf male and the human males options.
I think there probably will be differences for each gender too, Like you pointed out it would be weird for females to have those male pattern baldness styles for example. So for all we know the female human, Elf and Dwarf could have a few styles that we haven't seen yet.
It doesn't seem like they have that many haircuts at all and I hope in future games they work on that a little more or like others have said give us dlc.Btw where is the curly hair or long hair they keep talking about.

They possibly will, because in future games they don't have to build all the hair scratch like in this game
Bioware has problems with hair on frostbyte, thats why all the hair looks bad. So I think these are the only ones they could do without it glitching appearance.
I think Bioware and most developers have problem with hair. It never looks right.
Wow, I just went through reading the previous 6 pages on this thread and suddenly realized something. Although at first I was a bit disappointed at the lack of choices in hairstyles, it occurs to me that I am still looking forward to playing this game. And more importantly, after watching the videos of the new character creation system, it seem as though it will be so much easier to create a character to my liking that I think the hairstyle will be less important. I think I will at least wait until I have the game in hand before I complain too much about what is missing.
*laugh* Yes. It's really horrible, but there are possibilities. As long as there is no proper hair, we could try to change our perspective. A stunning, proud Vasoth female should be well within the given options. We just have to be creative ^^ But I'm sure no one here has a problem with that.
I did end up having to re-envision my qunari after I saw the options, but I'm still certain that Acantha will turn out to be striking and gorgeous after a few hours in the CC.
I'm still holding out hope for future DLC. I'll play my inquisitors with what we have now, but maybe we will get our braids and more detailed hair come the maybe DLC.
Until then, I feel like a lot of people's inquisitors will use the same few styles that are really good. Makes me sad that we will have less diversity in that way. Plus, I really want Josephine's hair. >m<

Rumor has it that all of Bioware employees are bald, so that's why they can't create good hair for their characters.
In both ME and DA games, the hair option is terrible, and I don't think it has to do with engine limitation since the modding community could do hair so much better than the default ones.

We probably should have seen 30 hairstyles before 30 mounts.
I'd personally like to see the mounts first as they're flashier, are a novelty, and have a more practical purpose. Given what's in the game already, I don't mind the lack of hair options at the moment; but it's a good excuse for a complementary patch or a greedy DLC.
I don't really like the hair options from what we've seen. I know they cannot create true long options, due to clipping issues, though I wish there were at least more semi-long options. I believe there were only three, with one being more of a mullet, so not entirely long. I would have enjoyed more 'medieval' looking styles, perhaps something such as Bethany's from the last game. I did love the ones from the early models posted in the OP, it is a shame they do not seem to have made it into the game. I can understand why the dwarf one hadn't, but the human and elf do not seem as though they would cause more clipping than others we have seen.
I feel harsh on all this nit-picking, as the character creator has otherwise blown me away with its improvements. I think Bioware did an amazing job. However, were they ever to implement something such as a 'Black Emporium' DLC, then this is something that I would like to see included.

It is shown that what we saw in the mass pic a few pages back really is all the hair we get. The first 2 we hadn't seen were just straight up bald options. Man, I really hope we do end up getting a DLC for them because while I can muddle through with what we have, I'm disappointed and really miss the pretty braids and other hair variants we had before.

Not to be a jerk, but I wouldn't hold my breathe. Lack of CC options has always been complain in Bioware Games and Bioware has never once release a DLC to add more options in that regard.
The funny (and sad) thing is, i prefer the old hairstyles compared to the new ones. I am now wishing they stuck with some of the old hairstyle models and i never thought that would or could ever happen. Is very difficult not to think the hairstyles shown so far are probably all there is.
I just hope some of the modders out there can find a way (and i'm confident they will) to put npc hair into CC. I could live in peace by using for example Morrigan's hair on my female character. Fingers crossed.

This is just... incredibly disappointing. I'm all for the inclusive, unisex fairness... I like that idea in theory. BUT when there are so few to choose from, and the majority of the hair styles are typically "masculine"- this just doesn't even feel fair. A SLOT IS USED UP IN THE FEMALE HAIRSTYLES CONTAINING A MALE PATTERN BALDNESS STYLE. I just...smh WHY WHWYWHWY ;___; I'm all for someone who want to make a female inquisitor suffering from male pattern baldness, but for the majority of female inquisitor players, I'm guessing this will feel like a wasted slot. -__-
On the surface it feels very superficial and silly to be this upset over video game character creation hairstyles... But considering the amount of time- nearly 4 years?? the game has been in development, as well as the incredible amount of detailed customization they've been boasting "30 mounts", "5 million possible skyhold customizations", etc... These hairstyle options are BEYOND underwhelming. I just feel like every time a bioware game comes out, there have been valid complaints about the lack of hair options, the lack of stylishness of it, the lack of variety of it texture-wise (little to no locs, afros, curly hair, braids etc)... Time after time we've been over this... It may not matter to some players (lucky for them!) but it matters to a ton of others. And yet still... here we are. HOW.
So excited for this game otherwise- but... this whole hair slot in the character creation is such a buzz kill...
Ily bioware- again, we're hard on you, because we know you can do better than this. Everyone keeps citing clipping issues as the sole reason why these styles are so underwhelming but honestly, we are reasonable- we are open to compromise. If you can't give me long flowing hair just yet (despite this being next gen), ok it's a new engine, yes, I will try to understand. HOWEVER, I'm sure you could've had many more styles that would avoid that problem and still be more interesting and stylish, show more variety, included more traditionally "feminine" looks, etc... lmfaooo I mean what is this incredibly small, majority of which are traditionally masculine oriented, selection of hairstyles I'm looking at?! I can't even. It's a jokeeee.
Agh I'm sorry- I'm just really really bummed over this. I mean, even including the looks from previous games would help?? I realize this is a new engine so you can't just transfer them in, but at least you KNOW the look should work, in that they all won't cause clipping issues right? Morrigan's hair, Leliana's, flemeth's hair (even with the horns) *coughqunaricough* ... I also wish they'd allow us to have say the hair styles of DA:I ladies like Cassandra, Josephine, Sera etc... I get that they want certain character to have an ICONIC look but, if they're going to skimp on the hair styles, then please just gimme all you have!
I just don't get how they can animate 30 different mounts which vary in texture and size, but then give me like 20 versions of the same haircut. Can someone explain this to me... ??? ;-;
Really I hate being so negative I just- I think the frustration stems from the fact that it has been a constant complaint of bioware games of the past. Years of this problem, and still, it feels like we're not being heard- that's why it's upsetting and confusing.

Bravo.
This whole "hair clipping" "hair is difficult to animate" and "new engine" i get it, really. But There are tons and tons of hairstyles that would be easier and still cute, it didn't need to be a rapunzel style super flowy long hair. I would be fine with a delay if it was to make the hair better, and its not just the awful hairstyles, the textures are just not looking good either. Since a long time most players have been saying that hair is important, I just can't belive that in all these years they couldn't make a single beautiful hair for the game. Mass effect, SWtor hair was bad, sure, but i could at least find one or two i liked. Same with DAO and DA2. And there was always a npc/companion with cute hairstyles on these games, Morrigan,Tallis, Ashley, Miranda... So that proves they CAN do non-bald/buzz,better hairstyles, they just rather not do it. I mean, these hairstyles on DAI are clearly made for males, the hairline, the patterns, the cuts, everything.
Here are some examples of hairstyles i'm talking about, that could have worked just fine with the game.
Spoiler
And about making Hawke in the CC, when my hawke sees her new avaliable hairstyles, she'd probably throw herself off a cliff before using any of these lol
That being said, i am happy for the people that liked the hairstyles. I'm just not one of them.
