It's not so much the class roll as what path to take for me. I'll be going Mage for several play throughs with different races but for the main canon play I'm so undecided on what abilities to take. I'll be rolling with Human Mage, Dorian, Blackwall, and Cole. So I plan to have Dorian focus on the Lightning Magic and maybe one or two support spells along side his Necro stuff. For my Inquistor I guess I'm leaning towards fire dps and Necromancer as my specialization. But only because I'm not sure if Entropy is making a comeback.

Only Warriors have the roll talent, OP.

You mean they have the dodge roll?

Entropy has been replaced by Rift Mage.

Think Rift Mage as the Upgraded version of Entropy.

Yep Warrior has Combat Roll which allows them to dodge attacks by rolling.

Useful skill for avoiding dangerous attacks that can prove fatal or break a block skill.

Is that, like, available for the two-handed weapon tree or can a weapon and shield warrior do it too?

Combat Roll is in the Battlemaster tree.

Not certain if Shield warrior can use it since I've only seen Two-handed weapon Warrior use it in the trailer.

Ah, well I don't know how I feel about that but thanks for info. Best to see and save judgement as I play.

Actually, Rift Mage includes the Stone Fist spell and the Focus power is Firestorm (at least, that's the case for Solas).  Unfortunately those are the only two skills we now anything about, but it seems to be an offensive damage tree... you can see a screenshot in the opening post of this thread and draw your own conclusions:  http://forum.bioware...trees-in-depth/

Thanks! After watching the second detailed video I've decided to go with Inferno tree as the focus of my Inquisitor!

Good choice.  Enjoy that 1600% damage Fire Mine.  ^_^

I like to mix things up and I can't decide which way to go this time either. Know that you will be absolutely fine in terms of gameplay whichever class you choose - you are effectively playing as your whole party, so it doesn't really matter if the Inquisitor is squishy or if some other companion is squishy instead. Your mage/s are usually the last to go down anyway if you're playing right.

My Warden was a heroic female Dalish Archer (she died, it's very sad), and Hawke was a badass male Mage who hated all other mages and was a hardline Templar supporter. This time I quite fancy playing as a massive, motherly female Qunari warrior who just wants to grab the Templars and Mages, bang their heads together and send them to bed early with no supper. She's as fed up with this Mage / Templar business as I am.

Two problems with this: I'm not sure the character creator will let me create that character in a way I'll be happy with, and all of the most appealing companions seem to be warriors already. I think I will want Cassandra and Blackwall in my party more often than not, so when it comes down to it I suspect I will end up playing as a rogue simply because having a rogue seems essential and because the mage companions seem more appealing to me than the rogue companions.

I always play mages first so of course I'm going to recommend going with a mage. :)

I've always been drawn to playing the mage, it's just that once I start I almost immediately want to change class. I think that even though rouges are fantastic for the stealth aspect and depending on the specialisation their dps, I much prefer to role the tank class, the whole sword and shield really appeals to me. Well at least for my first play through anyway

Though with the reveal of Knight Enchanter being the Arcane Warrior Tree of DAI being a Mage may be interesting as well if looking for that Melee mage experience since Knight Enchanter functions as a combination of Arcane Warrior and Spirit Warrior.

KE is very different from AW, IMO. Comparatively speaking (and I mean relative to other classes in the game), the KE looks like it will be better at damage and not as good at tanking. So kind of an anti-AW.

First play through, Mage at range, with a lot of tactical view interuptions. Think that is my best way of learning the capabilities/limitations of companion characters. Find when I use a Warrior class bash and hack style, I have no idea of what's going on around me except for my target.

I thought I was sure I was going to roll a rogue first, then Cassandra had to screw it up by being able to use Templar abilities without getting hooked on lyrium. Now I'm undecided.

I was about to make a thread similar to this, but mainly the methods you use to solve one's indecisiveness. Honestly I sort of roll a dice, best of 3 to make up my mind. 1-2 Rogue, 3-4 warrior, 5-6 a mage. Sometimes I don't even do the whole best of either.

Play all three. I know I will.

My first playthrough will be as a mage.

I dont want to put you any pressure but you Must play as a Mage. Lol i am kidding i think the players with the biggest twist are mages and templars and if you and any other race than human boom a perfect match for a more challenging game (maybe??).
