Good places to go for really eye catching stuff is Behance. When you're searching, click all creative fields and scroll down to MakeUp Arts (MUA). Not all of it would be do-able in DA:I but it's very good for inspiration if you need it and can't find any that you like in this thread.

Well for crazy ideas, I'm probably going to make a male Geisha because the men where indeed Geishas first! After that I can't say what I'd do with my fem hero but the first one is going to be an elf, blonde is highly likely, I'll probably give her a scar or more if I can, then with makeup its going to be very interesting as I usually do lip gloss and eyeshadow only  so I'm excited to see how pretty I can make her with lipstick,blush,and eyeliner along with freckles thats going to be cool I never played a freckled character before I think if I can make her so pretty I'll be like, " She so cool" in everyshot because I made someone neat I wouldn't see in regular media with such a unique engine, I'm preparing though to spend at least 3 - 6 hours just toying with the system before I even begin to play!

My human Eavan is going to be the girliest, cutest, flirtiest red-head I can possibly make. Red curls, a slight tan with freckles, a pouty pink mouth, and big turquoise eyes with long lashes.

 

My qunari Acantha is going to be much more subdued. Either bald or a blonde mohawk with golden ram horns, bronze skin, orange-y/gold/brown eyes, and wine red lips.

A few makeups that I'm planning on trying out to see how it works the pink and purple and pink ones I'll be testing on a dwarf rogue and the red one on a human mage and the green one on an elf either mage or rogue

take away some of the gleam/shinyness in the eye shadow and I think this look looks very nice

 

I also really like the colors in this one especially around the eyes.
